Objective:To investigate the adhesion potential and cell surface properties against enteric pathogens Salmonella typhi.Salmonella para typhi A and Vibrio cholera.Methods:Adhesion potentials of spore and vegetative pha...Objective:To investigate the adhesion potential and cell surface properties against enteric pathogens Salmonella typhi.Salmonella para typhi A and Vibrio cholera.Methods:Adhesion potentials of spore and vegetative phase were studied separately for the isolates.Hydrophobic nature was measured on the basis of affinity towards the xylene.Autoaggregalion and coaggregation were studied on the basis of clumping of cells.In vitro adhesion studies were done on mucous which were prepared from infant child faeces.Biofilm production of superior adhesive isolate was confirmed by SEM analysis.Results:Spore and vegetative phases of isolates possessed a different rate of adhesion potentials on intestinal mucous,which indicated that cell surface properties were involved in adhesion process.Spores showed a higher hydrophobicity than their vegetative cells which remained less or non hydrophobic.Vegetative phases showed capabilities for autoaggregation and coaggregation.Spores were found to be more adhesive on intestinal mucous than vegetative phase.Among enteric pathogens Vibrio cholera registered higher adhesion potentials with supporting cell surface properties.Among the five sporeforming isolates,isolate BM-3 possess superior adhesion than enteric pathogens and also exhibited biofilm formation which enhances colonization potential.Conclusions:Spore and vegetative cell phases shows differences in adhesion potentials.Cell surface properties and adhesion studies reveals that isolate BM-3 can be selected as superior isolate which is capable for biofilm production.In short,isolate BM-3 possesses an enhanced adhesion potential than enteric pathogens towards intestinal mucous which is a desirable probiotic character.展开更多
In recent years, the disorder of rural space, the gradual decline and extinction of traditional culture, the destruction of natural environment, the excessive consumption of natural resources and so on all lead to the...In recent years, the disorder of rural space, the gradual decline and extinction of traditional culture, the destruction of natural environment, the excessive consumption of natural resources and so on all lead to the increasingly backward problem of rural human settlements. Under this background, people also gradually turn their attention to the renovation and planning of rural human settlements. Based on practical investigation, this study analyzed the importance of village renovation planning and summarized the basic principles of village renovation planning. Based on the theory of The Sciences of Human Settlements, applying rigorous comprehensive research methods, it put forward the main contents of village renovation planning: land use planning, economic and industrial planning, comprehensive renovation of residential environment, renovation of residential buildings, environmental improvement, infrastructure renovation and construction management measures. This study took Xukou Village renovation planning of Peixian County, Xuzhou City as an example, systematically and comprehensively analyzed the existing problems, and put forward targeted renovation strategies to build a village renovation planning system and to provide good experience and reference for the sustainable development of rural human settlements and provide reference and basis for the government to formulate relevant policies and take corresponding measures and solve practical problems.展开更多

The results indicated that the main cause...This study assessed the contribution of former poachers to wildlife conservation in Volcanoes National Park, the main causes of poaching activities in Volcanoes National Park. The results indicated that the main causes of poaching and other illegal activities are associated with poverty, ignorance and culture and commercial purposes. The results further illustrated that poaching cases decreased in the Volcanoes National Park where, from 2018, the snares removed from the park reduced from above 1000 to 600 snares. In the same year, only 3 poachers from Kinigi and Shingiro Sectors were arrested. The findings illustrated that introducing of revenue sharing scheme where, 10% of the park’s revenues are shared to the local communities living adjacent to the park, and constructing a buffalo wall stone around the Volcanoes National Park are of the important measures which contributed to solve completely the problems of poaching and human-wildlife conflicts in the volcanic area. However, some respondents reported that the construction of buffalo wall did not prevent animal from escaping the park, they have proposed the construction of strong fence such as electrically fenced wall.展开更多

This study aimed to evaluate emerging trends of drug resistance to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) among 290 former blood donor HIV-1 inf...This study aimed to evaluate emerging trends of drug resistance to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) among 290 former blood donor HIV-1 infected patients in Hubei, China, from 2004 to 2006, all of whom had received anti-HIV-1 therapy. The presence of NRTI- and NNRTI-associated mutations were established by sequencing; genotypic and predicted phenotypic drug resistance were evaluated using HIVdb Program version 5.0.1 (http://hivdb.stanford.edu/ pages/algs/HIVdb.html). Genotypic drug resistance analysis showed significant increases in percentages of patients carrying HIV-1 strains with M41L, T215Y/F, D67N, K103N, G190A/S, Y181C/F or L210W mutations. Of the variants' predicted phenotypic drug resistance, highly significant increases were detected in percentages of patients carrying HIV-1 with high resistance to zidovudine (AZT) or stavudine (D4T) in NRTIs, and to delavirdine (DLV), efavirenz (EFV) or nevirapine (NVP) in NNRTIs; intermediate resistance to abacavir (ABC), AZT, D4T, didanosine (DDI) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in NRTIs, and to etravirine (ETR) in NNRTIs; and low and potential low resistance to lamivudine (3TC), ABC, emtricitabine (FTC) or TDF in NRTIs, and to ETR in NNRTIs.展开更多
