It is supposed that the transmit antennas are distributed while the receive antennas are still centralized, and the general case where both the time delays and the frequency offsets are possibly different for each transmit antenna is considered. The channel is supposed to be frequency flat, and the macroscopic fading is also taken into consideration. A carrier frequency offset estimator based on Maximum Likelihood (ML) is proposed, which can separately estimate the frequency offset for each transmit antenna and exploit the spatial diversity. The Cramer-Rao Bound (CRB) for synchronous MIMO (i.e., the time delays for each transmit antenna are all equal) is also derived. Simulation results are given to illustrate the per- formance of the estimator and compare it with the CRB. It is shown that the estimator can provide satisfactory frequency offset estimates and its performance is close to the CRB for the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) below 20dB.展开更多

The average bit-error-rate (BER) expressions of the FFH/BFSK SNZ receiver and the average BER expressions of an FFH/BFSK spread-spectrum (SS) communication system with frequency offsets of multitone jamming for the sake of understanding the simulation results better. Simulation results show that BER performance of the FFH/BFSK SNZ receiver with diversity under the worst case multitone jamming (MTJ) and AWGN suffers from multitone jamming's frequency offsets when the jamming power is moderate, which is validated by several simulations with different frequency offsets configured in multitone jamming. Therefore, an FFH/BFSK SNZ receiver under multitone jamming can be combated with the help of frequency offsets of multitone jamming.展开更多

Although SCM in an OFDM system has been investigated extensively, nevertheless, the bit error rate(BER) of the system with CFO is not yet available in the literature. This paper presents the BER analysis of a dual hop OFDM AF relay system with ordered subcarrier paring schemes, i.e., best-to-worst(BTW) SCM and best-to-best(BTB) SCM. Accurate close-form expressions are derived for end-to-end BER while considering a dual-hop fixed gain AF relaying system with CFO in Rayleigh fading channel. To provide more insights, their closed-form asymptotic expressions are then obtained. It is shown that the presence of CFO causes the BER of system maintain a fixed level even while signal-to noise ratio(SNR) is in high regime. The simulation results verify that the derived average BER expressions are accurate in Rayleigh fading channel.展开更多

The Quasi-Constant Envelope Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(QCE-OFDM) technique can achieve both high spectral efficiency and low peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR). Therefore, the QCE-OFDM technique is considered as a promising candidate multi-carrier technique for satellite systems. However, the Doppler effect will cause the carrier frequency offset(CFO), and the non-ideal oscillator will cause the carrier phase offset(CPO) in satellite systems. The CFO and CPO will further result in the bit-error-rate(BER) performance degradation. Hence, it is important to estimate and compensate the CFO and CPO. The frame offset owing to incorrect start point position of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) window, and the carrier frequency offset (CFO) due to Doppler frequency shift or the frequency mismatch between the transmitter and receiver oscil ators, can bring severe inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI) for the OFDM system. Relying on the relatively good correlation charac-teristic of the pseudo-noise (PN) sequence, a joint frame offset and normalized CFO estimation algorithm based on PN preamble in time domain is developed to realize the frame and frequency synchronization in the OFDM system. By comparison, the perfor-mances of the traditional algorithm and the improved algorithm are simulated under different conditions. By building a cooperative antenna system; an algorithm of joint channel estimation and Doppler frequency offset (DFO) estimation is proposed based on Ricean channel model. First, a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) algorithm for DFO is designed, show- ing that the Doppler estimation can be obtained by estimating moving velocity of the train and the path loss with the exploitation of pilots that are placed inside the frame. Then a joint detection algorithm for the receiver is proposed to exploit multi-antenna diversity gains. Last, the theoretical Crammer Rao bound (CRB) for joint channel estimation and DFO estimation is derived. The steady performance of the system is confirmed by numerical simulations. In particular, when the Ricean fading channel parameter equals 5 and the velocities of train are 100 m/s and 150 m/s, the estimation variances of DFO are very close to the theoretical results obtained by using CRB. Meanwhile, the corresponding sig- nal to noise ratio loss is less than 1.5 dB when the bit error rate is 10-5 for 16QAM signals.展开更多

The results indicate that the PN preamble based algorithm both in frame offset estimation and CFO estimation is more accurate, resource-saving and robust even under poor channel condition, such as low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and large normalized CFO.

文摘The challenges of severe Doppler effects in high-speed railway are considered. Meanwhile, the corresponding sig- nal to noise ratio loss is less than 1.5 dB when the bit error rate is 10-5 for 16QAM signals.

文摘In an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) system,a time and frequency domain least mean square algorithm(TF-LMS) was proposed to cancel the frequency offset(FO).TF-LMS algorithm is composed of two stages.Firstly, time domain least mean square(TD-LMS) scheme was selected to pre-cancel the frequency offset in the time domain, and then the interference induced by residual frequency offset was eliminated by the frequency domain mean square(FD-LMS) scheme in frequency domain. The results of bit error rate(BER) and quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) constellation figures show that the performance of the proposed suppression algorithm is excellent.
文摘An efficient scheme of integer frequency offset estimate for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is proposed based on a training symbol with several identicalparts. In this scheme, the received training symbol is first reshaped into several sub-symbols.It shows that the reshaping process in-troduees time diversity multiplexing. After a special fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm is applied to the sub-symbol,the integer frequency is estimated by finding the maximum magnitude of the resulting fre-quency domain signal. To improve the estimate performance, diversity combining methods are presented to makefull use of the multiple frequency domain sub-symbols.Compared to the traditional scheme, theproposed one has an improved estimate performance demonstrated by the computation simulation, while maintaining a very low complexity.

文摘This paper proposes a simple method to enlarge the estimation range of conventional carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation methods based on correlations among the identical parts of the preamble. A novel preamble is designed, which is composed of one regular OFDM training block with even numbers of identical parts and one irregular OFDM training block with odd numbers of identical parts. The initial estimates obtained over the two training blocks are next exploited to jointly estimate the CFO. By elaborately selecting the numbers of identical parts for the two training blocks, the proposed CFO estimator can estimate frequency offset over tens of the subcarrier spacing. Simulation results showed that the proposed CFO estimator satisfies the estimate range requirement for the practical OFDM systems, while achieving a very good estimate performance.

文摘The traditional fractional frequency offset(FFO) estimation schemes for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) in non-cooperative communication have the problems of susceptible performance with the frequency offset values and the number of OFDM symbols,a novel fractional frequency offset blind estimation scheme based on EKF for OFDM systems is conceived. The nonlinear function of the frequency offset is calculated by employing the correlation. And then the frequency offset is estimated by means of the iterative algorithm of EKF.The finally fractional frequency offset is estimated by adopting repeated the above process.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is robust to the frequency offset values without any requirements of a prior knowledge.

文摘Constant envelope orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CE-OFDM) is a waveform that can achieve 0d B peak-to-average power ratio and avoid the signal distortion caused by the nonlinear power amplifi er. However, the carrier frequency offset(CFO) in CE-OFDM systems can cause errors at phase unwrapper module. In this paper, a CFO estimation scheme is proposed for CEOFDM in satellite communication system. As the null subcarrier is inherent in the conjugate symmetric symbol structure at the transmitter, the proposed scheme uses the null subcarrier as prior information to estimate the CFO at the receiver. The ideal estimation range of normalized CFO is obtained by mathematical analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can estimate the CFO accurately under additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel and multipath fading channel, especially for moderate and high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).

文摘In this letter, the sensitivity of an uplink Multi-Tone Code-Division Multiple Access (MT-CDMA) system to the Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) is investigated. The analytical expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) of uplink MT-CDMA in the presence of CFO is derived in a multipath Rayleigh fading channel which is verified through simulations. Both Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) are considered in combining multipath signals in the analysis. It is found that the BER performance can be improved with the number of multipath increasing in the presence of CFO.
