The mass communication model and interactive ritual chain theory, which serve as communication paradigms in the new media era, facilitate and enhance the synergy between the fields of social history of medicine and health communication. This study employs a comprehensive framework based on the five elements of the mass communication model:information source, communication subject, communication object, message content, and post-communication feedback.Additionally,it incorporates the interactive ritual chain theory to examine the evolving dynamics and developmental trajectory of research in the social history of medicine during the new media era.Conclusively, this paper acknowledges the existing interaction gaps in the interaction between health communication and the social history of medicine research while outlining the challenges for fostering collaboration and proposing strategic optimizations for effective integration. 展开更多

Chinese civilization, with its long and continuous history and rich cultural heritage, plays a central role in China’s dialogue with other civilizations. Therefore,it is necessary to collect and refine the defining symbols and best elements of Chinese culture and showcase them to the world;develop discourse and narrative systems with Chinese characteristics, better tell China’s stories, and make China’s voice heard. This effort can help Chinese civilization shine globally, interact with other civilizations, and promote its communication and influence worldwide. In China, history museums,as physical carriers of Chinese civilization, are an important component in developing Chinese discourse and narrative systems and an important channel to better tell China’s stories and make China’s voice heard.Improving the artistry of museum exhibitions caters to the public’s growing demand for a more enriching cultural experience and substantially promotes Chinese culture on a global scale. With the communication of Chinese civilization as the main focal point, this study investigated the current issues related to the artistry of history museum exhibitions in China and defined the artistry of history museum exhibitions and their connotations.Based on an in-depth analysis of the artistry of historical museum exhibitions within China, this paper enumerated the areas where improvements could be made to enhance exhibition artistry, intending to promote the communication of Chinese civilization. 展开更多

The present study discusses how the emergence of semiology has outlined a new trajectory for visual and pictorial studies.First,we outline how Ferdinand de Saussure’s thoughts on the sign and its relation to visual communication has developed.Second,we interrogate its impact on art history,an already established science of visuality, throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.Third,we briefly discuss whether art history’s answer to reading Saussure is a denial or a positive affirmation of political responsibility shared by visual studies in general. The study highlights some of the most pertinent parts of the Saussurean legacy for the study of visual communication as a system, and some of the challenges and opportunities this legacy has created. 展开更多

Background and Aims: A comprehensive family health history still offers the best data for calculating risk of most complex diseases, but lack of informant accuracy hinders its use. Young adults transitioning from the parental home to more independent university life may be poor historians. The purpose of this study was to describe the quality of family health information acquired by young university students and to characterize the process by which they learn family health facts. Methods: Thematic content analysis was applied to interviews with undergraduate students enrolled in diverse classes across disciplines at a public US university. Results: Two processes, hanging around and trickling down, described the ways young adults learned family health information. The majority of respondents described both empowerment and a sense of vulnerability that resulted from having their family health information. Conclusions: Family health history provided by young adult students is characterized by inaccuracies related to lack of information and misunderstanding of information that is available. Young students are typically transitioning from the care of local primary care physicians into relationships with new healthcare providers, and are interested in family health history. Thus, this transition is an opportunity for nurses to construct an organized family health history with them. 展开更多

This study offers a multifaceted perspective on the history and theory of North American urban development. It extends a framework that deconstructs the complex urban evolution process into the three stages of assembly, disassembly, and reassembly.Urban development is explained through planning, architectural and critical theoretical perspectives. This study examines the inextricable links among land use regulations, public policies, transportation, urban economics, and communication technologies and underlines their impacts on shaping suburbia and downtown redevelopments. It argues that today’s revived traditional cores and medium-to-high-density mixed use developments are not mere incarnations of historic urban models.Despite responding to certain real-market demands for livable and vibrant urban environments, these quasi-traditional developments are driven by globalization forces and facilitated by cutting-edge technological advancements.Using combined evidence from theoretical investigations and interviews with experienced professionals, this research demonstrates the complexity and multidimensionality of urban development processes that require in-depth understanding of current global socioeconomic and technological transformations. 展开更多

Marx probed into the laws of the evolution of world history and the international system from the perspective of grand history, incisively revealing the inherent historical dynamics and evolutionary secrets of the laws of this development and thus providing a new analytical framework for our understanding of the nature of international relations and the characteristics of the era.Compared with related international relations theories of the same period,Marx’s international outlook had a unique class standpoint and methodological principles and adopted rigorous speculative logic and lofty values.Marx conducted scientific research and dialectical analysis of the laws of evolution and the intrinsic nature of international society, especially the historical mission of the proletariat. These ideas, unique in the intellectual and theoretical spectrum of international relations, provide an intellectual guide for the innovation of Chinese diplomatic theory in the new era. 展开更多

In contrast to history, which strives for a neutral and objective stance from which to narrate the past, literature can be thought of as multi-functional when it comes to traumatic history: as healing, in that it restores meaning where it has been destroyed; as subversive, master-narrative; as complementary, in in that it tells counter-histories of the that it integrates suppressed voices and painful experiences into the collective memory; or as disturbing, in that it narrates trauma as a persisting condition that continues into the present. This article looks into literary representations of trauma that make use of different narrative modes to reconstruct the past and to deal with collective trauma in 20th-century China. In order to understand the relationship between historical trauma a,'ad collective memory and to demonstrate the way in which memory relates to the past and to what extent memory shapes the collective identity of the present, the paper utilizes the concepts of communicative and cultural memory, as formulated by Jan and Aleida Assmann. 展开更多
