The conventional data envelopment analysis (DEA) measures the relative efficiencies of a set of decision making units with exact values of inputs and outputs. In real-world prob- lems, however, inputs and outputs typically have some levels of fuzziness. To analyze a decision making unit (DMU) with fuzzy input/output data, previous studies provided the fuzzy DEA model and proposed an associated evaluating approach. Nonetheless, numerous deficiencies must still be improved, including the α- cut approaches, types of fuzzy numbers, and ranking techniques. Moreover, a fuzzy sample DMU still cannot be evaluated for the Fuzzy DEA model. Therefore, this paper proposes a fuzzy DEA model based on sample decision making unit (FSDEA). Five eval- uation approaches and the related algorithm and ranking methods are provided to test the fuzzy sample DMU of the FSDEA model. A numerical experiment is used to demonstrate and compare the results with those obtained using alternative approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, we consider the problem of the evaluation of system reliability using statistical data obtained from reliability tests of its elements, in which the lifetimes of elements are described using an exponential distribution. We assume that this lifetime data may be reported imprecisely and that this lack of precision may be described using fuzzy sets. As the direct application of the fuzzy sets methodology leads in this case to very complicated and time consuming calculations, we propose simple approximations of fuzzy numbers using shadowed sets introduced by Pedrycz (1998). The proposed methodology may be simply extended to the case of general lifetime probability distributions. 展开更多

Speech recognition systems have been applied to inspection and maintenance operations in industrial factories to recording and reporting routines at construction sites, etc. where hand-writing is difficult. In these actual circumstances, some countermeasure methods for surrounding noise are indispensable. In this study, a new method to remove the noise for actual speech signal was proposed by using Bayesian estimation with the aid of bone-conducted speech and fuzzy theory. More specifically, by introducing Bayes’ theorem based on the observation of air-conducted speech contaminated by surrounding background noise, a new type of algorithm for noise removal was theoretically derived. In the proposed noise suppression method, bone-conducted speech signal with the reduced high-frequency components was regarded as fuzzy observation data, and a stochastic model for the bone-conducted speech was derived by applying the probability measure of fuzzy events. The proposed method was applied to speech signals measured in real environment with low SNR, and better results were obtained than an algorithm based on observation of only air-conducted speech. 展开更多

For random vibration of airborne platform, the accurate evaluation is a key indicator to ensure normal operation of airborne equipment in flight. However, only limited power spectral density(PSD) data can be obtained at the stage of flight test. Thus, those conventional evaluation methods cannot be employed when the distribution characteristics and priori information are unknown. In this paper, the fuzzy norm method(FNM) is proposed which combines the advantages of fuzzy theory and norm theory. The proposed method can deeply dig system information from limited data, which probability distribution is not taken into account. Firstly, the FNM is employed to evaluate variable interval and expanded uncertainty from limited PSD data, and the performance of FNM is demonstrated by confidence level, reliability and computing accuracy of expanded uncertainty. In addition, the optimal fuzzy parameters are discussed to meet the requirements of aviation standards and metrological practice. Finally, computer simulation is used to prove the adaptability of FNM. Compared with statistical methods, FNM has superiority for evaluating expanded uncertainty from limited data. The results show that the reliability of calculation and evaluation is superior to 95%. 展开更多

Solving complex decision problems requires the usage of information from different sources. Usually this information is uncertain and statistical or probabilistic methods are needed for its processing. However, in many cases a decision maker faces not only uncertainty of a random nature but also imprecision in the description of input data that is rather of linguistic nature. Therefore, there is a need to merge uncertainties of both types into one mathematical model. In the paper we present methodology of merging information from imprecisely reported statistical data and imprecisely formulated fuzzy prior information. Moreover, we also consider the case of imprecisely defined loss functions. The proposed methodology may be considered as the application of fuzzy statistical methods for the decision making in the systems analysis. 展开更多

The aim of this work is to develop an Internet and fuzzy based control and data acquisition system for an industrial process plant which can ensure remote running and fuzzy control of a cement factory. Cases studies of the proposed system application in three cement factories in Algeria, SCAEK(Setif), SCIMAT(Batna), and SCT(Tebessa), are discussed. The remote process control consists of alarms generated during running of the processes while maintaining and synchronizing different regulation loops thus ensuring automatic running of processes smoothly. In addition, fuzzy control of the kiln and the other two mills ensures that the system is operational at all times with minimal downtime. The process control system contains different operator station(OP), alarms table and a provision to monitor trends analysis. The operator can execute any operation according to his authorised access assigned by the system administrator using user administration tool. The Internet technology is used for human security by avoiding all times presence of operators at site for maintenance. Further, in case of a breakdown, the problem would be remotely diagnosed and resolved avoiding requirement of an expert on site thus eliminating traveling cost, security risks, visa formalities, etc. These trips are difficult to organize(costs, visas, risks). So the enterprise can reduce downtimes and travel costs. In order to realize a process control system guided by operators in the main control room or through Internet, the process control is based on programming in PCS 7 utilizing Cemat library and Fuzzy Control++ Siemens tools. 展开更多
