Its primary function is to absorb the vibrational shocks that are occasioned by irregular road surface to provide the vehicle with stability and ride comfort. The main objective of this study is to design a suspension coil spring made of structural steel for light duty vehicles with the aim of weight and cost reduction. This study was motivated by the government of Ghana’s actions to industrialise the automotive sector of the country through government policies and programs. The study made use of high carbon steel and low carbon steel as the control materials and structural steel as the implementing material. This was done to determine the suitability of structural steel for vehicle suspension coil spring. The study analysed parameters such as total deformation, equivalent Von Mises stress, maximum shear stress, and safety factor in the static structural analysis. The fatigue analysis also analysed parameters such as fatigue life and fatigue alternating stress. The results of the study revealed that the suspension spring made of structural steel has superior properties against all the parameters set for this study apart from deformation. The two control materials that are known for suspension coil spring design and manufacture have better properties to withstand deformation than the implementing material.展开更多

Then making use of the Q type multi-dimensions cluster analysis, we get the results that the water masses in the western Taiwan Strait include the follying: the coastal water along Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangdong Provinces, the diluted fresh water of Minjiang, Jiulong and Hanjiang Rivers; the mixing water in the Taiwan Strait; upwelling cold/warm water to the northwest of the Taiwan Shoal and the upwelling water to the east of Guangdong. The mixing weter in the Taiwan Strait during spring and summer is composed of a Kuroshio branch, the surface weter of the South China Sea, outal wier along Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangdong Provinces. While in autunm and winter, it is mixed up from Kuroshio branch, the shelf weter in the East China Sea, and the coastal water along Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangdong. There is an obvious seasonal change of growth and decline in these water masses.

文摘Displacement-monitoring-based back analysis is a popular method for geomechanical parameter estimation. However, due to the delayed installation of multi-point extensometers, the monitoring curve is only a part of the overall one, leading to displacement loss.Besides, the monitoring and construction time on the monitoring curve is difficult to determine. In the literature, the final displacement was selected for the back analysis, which could induce unreliable results. In this paper,a displacement-based back analysis method to mitigate the influence of displacement loss is developed.A robust hybrid optimization algorithm is proposed as a substitute for time-consuming numerical simulation. It integrates the strengths of the nonlinear mapping and prediction capability of the support vector machine(SVM)algorithm, the global searching and optimization characteristics of the optimized particle swarm optimization(OPSO)algorithm, and the nonlinear numerical simulation capability of ABAQUS.To avoid being trapped in the local optimum and to improve the efficiency of optimization, the standard PSO algorithm is improved and is compared with other three algorithms(genetic algorithm(GA),simulated annealing(SA),and standard PSO).The results indicate the superiority of OPSO algorithm. Finally, the hybrid optimization algorithm is applied to an engineering project. The back-analyzed parameters are submitted to numerical analysis, and comparison between the calculated and monitoring displacement curve shows that this hybrid algorithm can offer a reasonable reference for geomechanical parameters estimation.

文摘We present a statistical investigation of the degree of influence that assumptions made in relation to the mechanical parameters of a pylon have on its ground-induced vibrations. The study is set up by using as a key kinematic variable the displacement at the top of a reference,a stand-alone pylon with a uniform cross-section and fixity at its base.Next, statistics are produced using a dimensionless displacement ratio defined between the‘parental’and the‘subsidiary’cases, the latter defined for the pylon(a)resting on compliant soil,(b)having an attached top mass, and(c)being non-uniform with height.Furthermore, two materials are examined, namely, steel and reinforced concrete(R/C).More specifically, this displacement ratio is independent of the excitation and plays the role of a transfer function between the base and the top of the pylon. Both horizontal and vertical motions are considered, and the equations of motion are solved in the frequency domain. The ensuing statistical analysis is conducted for the following parameter combinations:(a)pylon founded on soft, intermediate, and stiff soil;(b)low, intermediate, and high-mass ratios of the attached mass to the pylon′s mass;(c)a constant and quadratic degree of pylon tapering with height.Spearman correlation coefficients are calculated for all the above combinations to arrive at statistical results that establish validity bounds and quantify the degree of influence of each assumption on the pylon′s response.
文摘The method described in this work provides a sensitive and fast technique for investigating the primary structure of peptides with molecular weight up to 3340 amu. Usually, the metastable ion kinetic energy spectra (MIKES) and collisional activated decomposition (CAD) spectra provide complementary information for the FAB mass spectra, the MIKES and CAD spectra generally contain high-mass sequence ions.
文摘A mass balance analysis was undertaken for liquid steel production using a computer program specially developed for the AC electric arc furnace at an important alloy steel producer in Turkey. The data obtained by using the computer program were found to be very close to the actual production ones.
文摘The suspension coil spring is one of the most important components in a vehicle suspension system. The two control materials that are known for suspension coil spring design and manufacture have better properties to withstand deformation than the implementing material.

文摘Surface mass anomalies estimated by mass concentration(mascon)approach using Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)observations with regularization constraints generally present higher spatial resolution than the spheric harmonic(SH)solutions. To analyze the influence of different types of constraints on the estimation of mascon solutions,we carried out a closed-loop simulation experiment to estimate surface mass anomalies over South America based on simulated GRACE intersatellite geopotential differences.Tikhonov regularization with spatial constraint(SC),uniform weighting constraint(UWC),and a prior information constraint(APC)were employed to stabilize the mascon solutions, and the corresponding optimal regularization parameters were determined based on the minimum residual root-mean-square(RMS)criterion.The results show that mascon solutions estimated under different types of constraints are consistent and equivalent when the optimal regularization parameters are selected. The spatial distributions and main characteristics of regional surface mass anomalies estimated by the three types of constraints agree well, and the values of residual RMS with different constraints are very close. But due to the smoothing effect of regularization, the signal strength of mascon solutions is a bit weaker than that of original true signal, especially in the regions with strong signals. In addition, due to the ill-conditioned problem is more serious for higher grid resolution, the relative contribution of the three types of constraints to the final mascon solutions would be stronger. The results show that the averages of relative contribution percentages of these constraints for 2°×2° mascon grids are 80%-90%,while the corresponding values for 4°×4° mascon grids are 30%-60%.However,based on the minimum residual RMS criterion, the accuracy of estimation results is not affected by the type of constraints and their relative contribution to the final mascon solutions.
