But those are usually not formed or created in our needs. Most of data providers deliver their data in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, which is compatible with ArcGIS, the most widely used GIS (Geographic Information System) software in GIS sector. However, those table data contain much unnecessary information that do not need for a certain project. Using the raw data can increase processing times and reduce performance of geoprocessing tools. This study shows steps of how the raw data are being processed using ArcGIS ModelBuilder and Python script.展开更多

This is largely because the challenge of including spatial data has not yet been well met. Potential for adoption of SD and GIS methods in combination is exemplified with the results of a decision-support exercise designed for simulation and prediction of the dynamic inter-relationships between socio-economic development and environmental quality for the "Wen, Pi, Du" county in Sichuan province, southwestern China.展开更多

This paper introduces the construction process of the model, the integration of the model with GIS, the interactive application of the system and users and the visual dynamic expression of water pollution accidents. By combining the statistical analysis of the spatial and environmental database in the system, the scientific simulation of the temporal and spatial relationship of the development of water pollution accidents on the client side is realized and providing precise decision support for early warning and control of water pollution diffusion.展开更多

Bayou Chinchuba in St. Tammany parish Louisiana is selected for this water quality model. Developed with HSPF (Hydrologic Simulation Program in Fortran), the model is used to calculate NO3, PO4, and BOD loading rates for varying scenarios of land use development. GIS tools are used to determine, visualize, and compare the total loads generated within sub-basins of the watershed based on the model simulation results. With the GIS calculation of NO3, PO4, and BOD total load and visualization enhancement, this tool simulates existing conditions and compares the water quality impact to 2020 expectation values.展开更多

Traditional method, which is carried out mainly by means of twodimensional drawings and textures, is not efficient and intuitive enough to analyze the whole project and reflect its spatial relationship. Three-dimensional visual simulation provides an advanced technical means of solving this problem. In this paper, triangular irregular network (TIN) model simplified by non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) technique was used to establish the digital terrain model (DTM) of a super large region. Simulation of dynamic water surface was realized by combining noise function with sine wave superposition method. Models of different objects were established with different modeling techniques according to their characteristics. Application of texture mapping technology remarkably improved the authenticity of the models. Taking the tidal defense engineering in the new coastal region of Tianjin as a case study, three-dimensional visual simulation and dynamic roaming of the study area were realized, providing visual analysis and visible demonstration method for the management and emergency decision-making associated with construction.展开更多

CYCLONE simulation model takes charge of simulating stochastic duration of activity and efficiency of resources, while CPM model performs project scheduling. This combination avoids the shortcomings of both models. Furthermore, geographic information system (GIS) technique is utilized to visualize the construction processes which are otherwise difficult to be understood by static results described. Application in practical project verifies the feasibility and advantage of the technique.展开更多
