The design of a global positioning system (GPS) software receiver is introduced. The design of a global positioning system (GPS) software receiver is introduced. This design uses the concept of software radio, and it consists of the following parts: front-end, acquisition, tracking, synchronization, navigation solution and some assisting modules. In the acquisition module, the acquisition algorithm based on circular correlation is utilized. The input data and the local code are converted into the frequency domain by means of the fast Fourier transform (FFT). After performing circular correlation, the initial phase of the C/A code can be obtained and the cartier frequency can be found in 1 kHz frequency resolution, which is too coarse to use for the tracking loop. In order to improve the frequency resolution, the fine frequency estimation through a phase relationship is then achieved, by which, the frequency resolution is improved dramatically. Experiments show that the inaccuracy of the carrier frequency can be estimated within a few hertz by the fine frequency estimation method, and the fine frequency attained can be directly used for the tracking loop. 展开更多

The schemes and effects of electronically jamming GPS’s C/A code receivers are studied by using CW as the narrow band jamming signal and BPSK signal modulated by Gold code which is incoherent to that adopted by GPS as the wide band one. By simulating with Monte Carlo method and programming in Matlab language, the various jamming results in terms of bit error rate under several jamming scenarios are obtained. Through analyzing the simulation results and quantitative dependences of jamming effects on the distance from jammer to GPS receiver and the jammer’s height over ground, it is concluded that jamming with wide band jammer is much more effective than that with narrow band one. 展开更多

With research on the carrier phase synchronization and symbol synchronization algorithm of demodulation module, a synchronization circuit system is designed for GPS software receiver based on field programmable gate array (FPGA), and a series of experiment is done on the hardware platform. The result shows the all-digital synchronization and demodulation of GPS intermediate frequency (IF) signal can be realized and applied in embedded real-time GPS software receiver system. It is verified that the decision-directed joint tracking algorithm of carrier phase and symbol timing for received signals from GPS is reasonable. In addition, the loop works steadily and can be used for receiving GPS signals using synchronous demodulation. The synchronization circuit for GPS software receiver designed based on FPGA has the features of low cost, miniaturization, low power and real-time. Surely, it will become one of the development directions for GPS and even GNSS embedded real-time software receiver. 展开更多

The traditional fast acquisition is analyzed, the fast acquisition of the GPS receiver aided is presented by INS information, and the signal is fine captured by spectrum zooming. Then the algorithm is simulated by sampled GPS intermediate frequency (IF) signal and the result verifies that this acquisition can dramatically improve the capability of GPS receiver and reduce its acquisition time. 展开更多

This article deals with a problem of the robot localization in the outdoor environment by using the GPS (global positioning system) data. In order to navigate the robot, it is necessary to transform the global position into the local map in the form of two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. The transformation is based on the model of the Earth-WGS 84 reference ellipsoid. The aim of this article is to experimentally evaluate a set of low-cost GPS receivers applicable as position sensors for small outdoor mobile robots. The evaluation is based on series of measurements executed in different times and places. The measured data is processed by given procedure and acquired positions are transformed into the local coordinate system. Accordingly the accuracy of the measured positions is statistically evaluated. The evaluation of used GPS receivers is done by comparison with data acquired by high-end geodetic GPS system Leica 1200, which is used as a reference GPS system. 展开更多

Improved Circular Correlation Methods for Acquisition in Software GPS Receiver

In this paper the authors explore the Global Positioning System (GPS) signal acquisition and tracking algorithms used in software GPS receiver. Acquisition time is the most important parameter in evaluating the performance of a software GPS receiver in terms of its speed. A trade-off study is done to seek a good balance between the acquisition accuracy and the processing time. The frequency-domain acquisition method by circular correlation, used in a software GPS receiver, has been improved by studying the power spectrum of the Coarse Acquisition (C/A) code alone. The analysis of C/A code reveals that its power spectrum is symmetrical; hence only half the points are required to perform circular correlation. Besides, either half of the spectrum is asymmetrical where a larger amount of power is concentrated in almost one-quarter of the spectrum on its either sides. This further reduces the number of points used to perform correlation. Comparative results of MATLAB simulation of full-size, half-size and quarter-size circular correlation done on actual data stored on hard disk are provided, and they agree with those obtained using GPS receiver. Further reduction in acquisition time has been achieved by investigating the effect of length of the noncoherent pre-integration period. The improved acquisition methods pave way for further development of new algorithms to enhance software GPS receiver performance. 展开更多

This paper presents a 12-channel,30Gb/s front-end amplifier realized in standard 0.18μm CMOS technology for parallel optlc-fiber receivers. In order to overcome the problem of inadequate bandwidth caused by the large parasitical capacitor of CMOS photo-detectors,a regulated-cascode structure and noise optimization are used in the design of the transimpedance amplifier. The experimental results indicate that, with a parasitical capacitance of 2pF,a single channel is able to work at bite rates of up to 2.5Gb/s,and a clear eye diagram is obtained with a 0. 8mVpp input. Furthermore, an isolation structure combined with a p^+ guard.ring (PGR), an n^+ guard-ring (NGR),and a deep-n-well (DNW) for parallel amplifier is also presented. Taking this combined structure, the crosstalk and the substrate noise coupling have been effectively reduced. Compared with the isolation of PGR or PGR + NGR,the measured results show that the isolation degree of this structure is improved by 29.2 and 8. ldB at 1GHz,and by 8. 1 and 2. 5dB at 2GHz,respectively. With a 1.8V supply,each channel of the front-end amplifier consumes a DC power of 85mW,and the total power consumption of 12 channels is about 1W. 展开更多

高分多模卫星已在轨稳定运行,并使用星载BDS/GPS双频双模导航接收机实现了自主定轨功能。根据导航接收机在轨实测数据,开展了BDS模式和GPS模式下的载噪比、收星数等观测数据质量的对比分析,基于下传的原始观测数据完成了精密定轨解算,... 高分多模卫星已在轨稳定运行,并使用星载BDS/GPS双频双模导航接收机实现了自主定轨功能。根据导航接收机在轨实测数据,开展了BDS模式和GPS模式下的载噪比、收星数等观测数据质量的对比分析,基于下传的原始观测数据完成了精密定轨解算,并采用内符合评估方法完成了实时定轨精度分析。经分析研究,导航接收机最高载噪比BDS模式较GPS模式高1 dB•Hz,平均可用星数BDS模式较GPS模式多0.6颗,精密定轨位置精度和速度精度BDS模式和GPS模式均在1.63~5.34 cm、0.0017~0.0046 cm/s之间,实时定轨位置精度和速度精度BDS模式和GPS模式均在3.10~4.23 m、0.00291~0.00394 m/s之间。结果表明,BDS信号与GPS信号的载噪比、可用星数和定轨精度均基本相当,表明BDS已具备为航天器用户独立提供时间、位置及速度等信息服务的能力。 展开更多

The designed RF front-end is fabricated in 0.18 μm RF CMOS technology. The low noise characteristic is achieved by the noise canceling technique while the bandwidth is enhanced by gate inductive peaking technique. Measurement results show that, while the input frequency ranges from 100 MHz to 2.9 GHz, the proposed reconfigurable RF front-end achieves a controllable voltage conversion gain(VCG) from 18 dB to 39 dB. The measured maximum input third intercept point(IIP3) is-4.9 dBm and the minimum noise figure(NF) is 4.6 dB. The consumed current ranges from 16 mA to 26.5 mA from a 1.8 V supply voltage. The chip occupies an area of 1.17 mm^2 including pads. 展开更多

C/A码的捕获,在软件GPS接收机中的地位举足轻重.通常软件GPS接收机中没有专门用于相关运算的硬件部件,提高软件GPS接收机的捕获灵敏度的同时降低捕获的运算量,是软件接收机实用化的关键.利用先叠加再相关的方法,可以减少相关运算的次数... C/A码的捕获,在软件GPS接收机中的地位举足轻重.通常软件GPS接收机中没有专门用于相关运算的硬件部件,提高软件GPS接收机的捕获灵敏度的同时降低捕获的运算量,是软件接收机实用化的关键.利用先叠加再相关的方法,可以减少相关运算的次数,但必须考虑载波误差对相关函数峰值的影响.在此基础上,研究了数据预处理中,线性插值的参数选择问题,最后,提出了最佳路径算法,进行进一步的相关累积,在延长相干累积时间长度的同时,避免导航数据跳变对累积的影响,提高捕获的灵敏度.仿真结果表明,在信噪比SNR=-37dB的情况下,算法仍能捕获到所有卫星信号.实际接收的数据也表明,算法能明显增加捕获到的卫星数量.由于算法采用了多种措施来降低运算量,因此算法的运算量适中,非常适合在软件接收机中采用. 展开更多
