A Lovely Place(2019)is a collection of the Norwegian writer Kjell Askildsen’s short stories that is translated from German into Chinese by Yang Zhizi.It contains 18 short stories,whose male characters are mainly anal...A Lovely Place(2019)is a collection of the Norwegian writer Kjell Askildsen’s short stories that is translated from German into Chinese by Yang Zhizi.It contains 18 short stories,whose male characters are mainly analyzed by researchers.The paper argues that female characters are playing an indispensable role in compensating the males’life stories and enlightening their worldviews according to Chinese Yin-Yang theory.The females can be classified into the following three groups in terms of their important relations to the males.Firstly,the female is the male’s companion in a certain part of the latter’s life.Secondly,the female facilitates the male’s intellectual growth either spontaneously or purposefully.Thirdly,the female struggles for independence to set an example for the male.The female characters in A Lovely Place present such femininity as beauty,energy,nostalgia,sentimentality,motherhood,etc.,stimulate the males to reflect on their own identities and fulfill their muscularity,and function as the genuine protagonists in the collection as far as the gender relations are concerned.展开更多
Based on the treatise by Gerhard Bungert and Marlene Grund published in 1983,titled Karl Marx,Lenchen Demuth and the Saar,author Gisela Hoffmann,who lives in St.Wendel in the Saarland,Germany,which is the birthplace o...Based on the treatise by Gerhard Bungert and Marlene Grund published in 1983,titled Karl Marx,Lenchen Demuth and the Saar,author Gisela Hoffmann,who lives in St.Wendel in the Saarland,Germany,which is the birthplace of Helena Demuth,wrote the play“Powerful Women Around Karl Marx”.It has been performed multiple times,the latest of which is on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8,2018 in Trier,Germany.Along with presenting research on Helena Demuth as a historical person,this article will examine how Helena Demuth,as a historical and literary figure,can be said to embody a dynamic between exitus and new beginnings,changes and interferences.The article also examines how the figure of the Continuum,with the four dimensions physical(body),psychological(emotion),social(behavior),and sexual(desire),can be used to illuminate the person of Helena Demuth in all her facets,not the least of which are her connections to Jenny and Karl Marx.展开更多
Aquaculture in pond and floodplain was accelerated in Bangladesh in the 1990s as a means of better production and income which was backed by the donor agencies,NGOs,and the government.Currently,the commercial actors a...Aquaculture in pond and floodplain was accelerated in Bangladesh in the 1990s as a means of better production and income which was backed by the donor agencies,NGOs,and the government.Currently,the commercial actors are involved in the aquaculture systems due to the availability of production technologies and inputs.This paper aims to explore how the commercialization and privatization of floodplain aquaculture become the cause of the sufferings of the natural resource-dependent people and biodiversity loss in the floodplains.Now,Influential people hold control of the common pool floodplains and restricted the access of the Small-Scale Fishers(SSF)to manage the aquaculture.Our findings suggest that the SSF,for whom the seasonal floodplains were an important source of livelihood,their livelihood has been destroyed and overall wellbeing have been negatively affected.Besides that,lending enough evidence to the increased inequality,a new group of poor has emerged.Because instead of ensuring the welfare of SSF,Bangladesh government has leased the floodplain lands to the powerful rich people.In addition to growing inequalities,natural resource degradation has welcomed social vulnerabilities.However,no development initiative will ever be sustainable and effective if the existing socio-ecological setting is not considered.Bangladesh government should take robust attempts to revisit fisheries policies to ensure livelihood resilience of fisheries resource-dependent community by managing the access rights of the common pool resources.展开更多
