When using magnetic field sensors to measure magnetic field gradient as the coefficients of tensor, field differentiation is generally approximated by field difference. As a result, magnetic objects positioning by magnetic field gradient tensor measurement always involves an inherent error caused by sensor sizes, leading to a reduction in detectable distance and detectable angle. In this paper, the inherent positioning error caused by magnetic field gradient tensor measurement is calculated and corrected by iterations based on the systematic position error distribution patterns. The results show that, the detectable distance range and the angle range of an ac magnetic object(2.44 Am^2@1 kHz) can be increased from(0.45 m, 0.75 m),(0?, 25?) to(0.30 m, 0.80 m),(0?,80?), respectively.展开更多

The global convergence results are developed in a very general setting of computing trial directions by this method combining with the line search technique. Close to the solution set this method is locally Q-superlinearly convergent under an error bound assumption which is much weaker than the standard nonsingularity condition.展开更多

In this work, gradient descent method together with regularization is investigated to study the electricity output related to vacuum level and temperature in the turbine. Ninety percent of the data was used to train the regression parameters while the remaining ten percent was used for validation. Final results showed that 99% accuracy could be obtained with this method. This opens a new window for electricity output prediction for power plants.展开更多

This paper presents an alternative adaptive filtering design based on the minimum symbol error rate (MSER) criterion for communication applications. It is shown that the MSER filtering is smarter, as it exploits the non-Gaussian distribution of filter output effectively. Consequently, it provides significant performance gain in terms of smaller symbol error over the MMSE approach. Adopting Parzen window or kernel density estimation for a probability density function, a block-data gradient adaptive MSER algorithm is derived. A stochastic gradient adaptive MSER algorithm, referred to as the least symbol error rate, is further developed for sample-by-sample adaptive implementation of the MSER filtering. Two applications, involving single-user channel equalization and beamforming assisted receiver, are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and generality of the proposed adaptive MSER filtering approach.展开更多
