[Method] Based on the agricultural statistics data of Guangxi and al over China, yield com-parative advantage (YCA) index, efficiency comparative advantage (ECA) index, scale comparative advantage (SCA) index, concentration ratio comparative advantage (CRCA) index, comprehensive comparative advantage (CCA) index, ratio of yield per unit area (RYPA) index and sowing area ratio (SAR) index were established and calculated to determine the watermelon production comparative advantages in 31 provinces (cities) in China. Spacial patterns of the comparative advantages were produced by using GIS software. [Result] Nine provinces Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei, Jiangsu, Hunan, Zhejiang and Guangxi were the dominant regions in watermelon production al over the country. The Central and Eastern China showed the integrated comparative advantage in watermelon production, while the Southern, Northeastern, Northern and Northwestern China can be considered as the potential places for watermelon production in future. Southwest China gave more priority to watermelon production, so the comparative advantages kept increasing here. [Con-clusion] Based on this study, watermelon production should be a prior consideration among the agricultural products in Guangxi. Related measures should be developed to optimize the regional distribution of watermelon in Guangxi and China to promote healthy competition in watermelon production.展开更多

During 2012-2014, a comparative field trial was carried out in Lingyun County of Baise City in northern Guangxi to compare plant height, yield, stem-leaf ratio and nutrient composition am-ong Pennisetum purpureum Schumab cv. Purple, P. purpureum Schum cv. Guimin and P. purpureum Rich × P. americana King grass cv. Reyan No.4. The results in-dicated that average annual fresh yield of P. purpureum Schumab cv. Purple reached 141.4 t/hm2, which was 2.3 t/hm^2 higher than that of P. purpureum_Rich×P. americana_King grass cv. Reyan No.4; both average annual fresh yield of these two species was lower than that of P. purpureum Schum cv. Guimin. Stem-leaf ratio of P. purpureum Schumab cv. Purple was the lowest (1.17), which was 17.8% lower compared with P. purpureum Schum cv. Guimin, with significant differences (P〈0.05), indicating that P. purpureum Schumab cv. Purple had more leaves. Crude protein content of P. purpureum_Schumab cv. Purple was slightly lower than that of P. purpureum Rich×P. americana_King grass cv. Reyan No.4, while P. purpureum Schumab cv. Purple was superior to P. purpureum Schum cv. Guimin and P. pur-pureum Rich ×P. americana_King grass cv. Reyan No.4 in other indicators. Specifi-cal y, P. purpureum Schumab cv. Purple contained 26.6% of dry matter, 39.1% of nitrogen-free extract and 2.9% of crude fat.展开更多

The ostracods studied in this paper are all from the coastal zones of Gaode and Weizhou Island, Zhuang Autonomous Region of Guangxi. The present study shows that the richness and diversity of the ostracods from Gaode area are rather lower as compared with those from Weizhou Island, where individual numbers increase constantly from supralittoral to sublittoral zones. The ostracod associations of Weizhou Island are similar to those reported from the east coast of the Weizhou Island, and most of them are littoral and benthic forms of the order Podocopida and only a few of them are members of the order Myodocopoda (e. g. Ruti-derma, Cylindroleberis and Polycope). In this paper, the distributive character of the ostracods in the studied areas is analysed and discussed synthetically on the ground of their ecology, which will provide new information for the study of ecologic habitats, biogeographic provinciality and the Cenozoic biostratigraphy of ostracods.展开更多

There have been83 species(22 families, 8 orders) of wild mammals illegally traded and smuggled in China, mainly found in the southwest border, especially in Yunnan and Guangxi.Smuggling has seriously affected the ecological security of China, so it is necessary to intensify efforts to fight such crime, and enhance the people’s awareness of wildlife protection.展开更多
