Objective: To observe the curative effect of Chinese medicine prescription (Yueshi, Zhongbai, Qingdai, Phelloderma phelloderma and glycyrrhiza) on children with herpetic stomatitis. Methods: 90 patients were divided into 2 groups by random number table method. 45 patients in the observation group were treated with traditional Chinese medicine, and 45 patients in the control group were treated with iodine glycerin. The total effective rate after treatment was compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the treatment group was 95.55%;the total effective rate of the control group was 71.11%;the total effective rate of the two groups after treatment was compared;the treatment group was significantly better than the control group;the difference was significant (P 0.05). Conclusion: The external use of Chinese medicine in the treatment of pediatric herpetic stomatitis has achieved good results, improving the condition of children, and significantly improving the clinical efficacy.展开更多

Most herpesvirus infections are mild or asymptomatic. However, when the virus invades the eye, a number of pathologies can develop and its associated sequelae have become a considerable source of ocular morbidity. The most common culprits of herpetic eye disease are the herpes simplex virus(HSV), varicella zoster virus(VZV), and cytomegalovirus(CMV). While primary infection can produce ocular disease, the most destructive manifestations tend to arise from recurrent infection. These recurrent infections can wreck devastating effects and lead to irreversible vision loss accompanied by a decreased quality of life, increased healthcare usage, and significant cost burden. Unfortunately, no method currently exists to eradicate herpesviruses from the body after infection. Treatment and management of herpes-related eye conditions continue to revolve around antiviral drugs, although corticosteroids, interferons, and other newer therapies may also be appropriate depending on the disease presentation. Ultimately, the advent of effective vaccines will be crucial to preventing herpesvirus diseases altogether and cutting the incidence of ocular complications.展开更多

Medical records of three eyes of each AK and herpetic keratitis who had AS-OCT examination were reviewed in this study. Slitlamp biomicroscopy and AS-OCT was performed on the initial visit and on every follow-up visits in all patients. In all three AK cases, reflective bands in the corneal stroma that correspond to the area of radial keratoneuritis were observed. The depth of the reflective bands varied in each case. After AK treatment, slit-lamp biomicroscopy confirmed that radial keratoneuritis had resolved and AS-OCT confirmed that reflective bands in the corneal stroma had also disappeared in all patients. Unlike the AS-OCT results found in AK, highly reflective HEK lesions were observed only in the subepithelial area, not in the stroma. AS-OCT seems to be helpful analyzing the specific depth of the lesion which enables to distinguish AK from HEK.展开更多

Its frequency is higher among immune compromised individuals. Herpes zoster presents with characteristic painful grouped vesicles on erythematous background along the dermatome area and could be complicated by post-herpetic neuralgia. The current review examined the risk factors and discussed herpes zoster in different situations, treatment and concluded by discussing the future research trend of herpes zoster.展开更多
