The static task scheduling problem is NP-complete in its general form. The complexity of the problem increases when task scheduling is to be done in a heterogeneous environment, consisting of processors with varying processing capabilities and network links with varying bandwidths. List scheduling algorithms are generally preferred since they generate good quality schedules with less complexity. But these list algorithms leave a lot of room for improvement, especially when these algorithms are used in specialized heterogeneous environments This paper presents an hybrid genetic task scheduling algorithm for the tasks run on the network of heterogeneous systems and represented by Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs). First, the algorithm assigns a coupling factor to each task to present the tasks should be scheduled onto the same processor by avoiding the large communication time. Second, the algorithm generate some high quality initial solution by scheduling the tasks which are strongly coupled with each other onto the same processor, and improve the quality of the solution by using coupling initial solutions, random solution, near optimal solutions obtained by the list scheduling algorithm in the crossover and mutation operator. The performance of the algorithm is illustrated by comparing with the existing effectively scheduling algorithms.展开更多

The basic DTPN modules are presented to model the corresponding variable structures in RPL, and then the scheduling model of the whole RPL is constructed. And in the scheduling algorithm, firing sequences of the Petri nets model are used as chromosomes, thus the selection, crossover, and mutation operator do not deal with the elements in the problem space, but the elements of Petri nets model. Accordingly, all the algorithms for GA operations embedded with Petri nets model are proposed. Moreover, the new weighted single-objective optimization based on reconfiguration cost and E/T is used. 文摘Task scheduling is the main problem in cloud computing that reduces system performance;it is an important way to arrange user needs and perform multiple goals.Cloud computing is the most popular technology nowadays and has many research potential in various areas like resource allocation, task scheduling, security, privacy, etc. To improve system performance,an efficient task-scheduling algorithm is required.Existing task-scheduling algorithms focus on task-resource requirements,CPU memory, execution time, and execution cost.In this paper,a task scheduling algorithm based on a Genetic Algorithm(GA)has been presented for assigning and executing different tasks. The proposed algorithm aims to minimize both the completion time and execution cost of tasks and maximize resource utilization. We evaluate our algorithm’s performance by applying it to two examples with a different number of tasks and processors. The first example contains ten tasks and four processors;the computation costs are generated randomly. The last example has eight processors, and the number of tasks ranges from twenty to seventy;the computation cost of each task on different processors is generated randomly. The achieved results show that the proposed approach significantly succeeded in finding the optimal solutions for the three objectives;completion time, execution cost, and resource utilization.
文摘Due to the NP-hardness of the job shop scheduling problem (JSP), many heuristic approaches have been proposed;among them is the genetic algorithm (GA). In the literature, there are eight different GA representations for the JSP;each one aims to provide subtle environment through which the GA’s reproduction and mutation operators would succeed in finding near optimal solutions in small computational time. This paper provides a computational study to compare the performance of the GA under six different representations.
