An Empirical Study of the Effect of Inquiry Teaching on the Development of High School Students'Critical Thinking Under the New Curriculum Standards

The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China has issued three guideline documents to encourage inquiry teaching to help students develop their ability to question,which is a defining feature of critical thinking.Two of the documents have clearly stated that English subject teaching should focus on building students’thinking capacity.Critical thinking is an essential feature of building thinking capacity and a key element of the core competencies the English subject seeks to cultivate.This research measures the performance of students of two high school classes in the exams conducted at the beginning,in the middle,and at the end of the experiment period during which inquiry teaching was applied to enhance students’critical thinking ability.The experiment results show that inquiry teaching can improve students’academic performance in English study and help them better develop their language skills.The implementation of the inquiry design in teaching listening,reading,and writing conforms to the law that governs the development of critical thinking,and the adoption of inquiry teaching can promote the development of critical thinking.

2013 Curriculum Reflected in an International Oriented Senior High School, Yogyakarta

Curriculum is one of important factors which contribute to improving learner＇s ability and potency in education. Curriculum used in school has a purpose to make learners be active and creative persons. It is an education plan that emphasizes the competency of learners. Indonesia, through its Ministry of Education, implements 2013 Curriculum officially that reflects the competency of learners. This curriculum is actually similar with competence-based curriculum which concentrates on learners. In senior high school level, English becomes one of the subjects of final national examination and also this is the last level for learners before they continue their study to university. International oriented school is a school that applies English as a second language and also a school cooperates with or uses international standard curriculum. Reflecting learning and teaching English in senior high school especially in the international oriented school is very important and needs special attention. This research investigates the implementation of curriculum in the international oriented senior high school in Yogyakarta. From the research, it is known that the school officially does not implement 2013 Curriculum. However, ACT （Assessment Certificate Test） curriculum and the values of the school automatically reflect the 2013 Curriculum because the school empowering implementation of competency-based curriculum in learning process that focuses on learner-centered learning, facilitating assessments of process of learning and fostering learners＇ autonomy through the curriculum is reflected in the school essentially in the programs and activities.

Research on the Status Quo of the Curriculum of Public Physical Education in High Schools

With the advancement of high-quality education,the importance of physical education courses has been increasing.Traditionally,the teaching of sports which mainly teaches students’sports skills has mandatory learning characteristics.With the development and improvement of the physical education curriculum,the current public physical education curriculum in high schools is considered more scientific in terms of teaching content and form,focusing on the cultivation of students’interest in learning,and improving the students’various abilities and physical fitness.This article mainly analyzes the status quo of the curriculum of public physical education in high schools and proposes corresponding countermeasures.

In this paper, we conduct research on curriculum system construction plan for animation design and production of specialty in high vocational colleges. With the development of animation industry in our country, the existing higher vocational anime education already cannot satisfy the needs of the enterprises. Anime professional teaching reform is imminent. This article stands on the basis of existing animation specialty teaching reform, the analysis summarizes common problems, and proposes the corresponding solution hope to make their efforts to the development of animation education. We insist on teachers in the teaching process, and in the case of the classroom into more comprehensive knowledge, to improve the students＇ technology at the same time, more to improve students＇ comprehensive qualities to look for the better education performance.

本文以对１９９１ 至１９９４ 年到美国作访问学者的中国教育家的调查所得资料为基础，报告了对美国和中国中学理科教育的目标和课程设计所作比较研究的结果。两国理科教育的理想目标相似，但在两国学校里的真正重点颇有差异。在课程设计上，美国理科教育的范围比中国的大，但深度远不如中国。这些差异也反映在课本及课堂活动上。本文还讨论了两国中学理科教育变革的有关问题。

Design and development of large-scale in-situ PRACLAY heater test and horizontal high-level radioactive waste disposal gallery seal test in Belgian HADES

In Belgium,the Boom clay was selected as a potential host formation for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste（HLW）.To demonstrate the suitability of Boom clay for bearing thermal load induced by the HLW,a large-scale in-situ heater test,called PRACLAY heater test,will be conducted in the underground research laboratory（URL） in Mol.Owing to the limitations of the test（a short period of time compared with that considered in a real repository,different boundary conditions,etc.）,the test is designed to simulate,in a conservative way,the most critical state and phenomena that could occur in the host rock.The PRACLAY gallery was excavated at the end of 2007;the heating phase will begin in 2010 and will last for at least 10 years.The PRACLAY gallery itself leaves an opportunity to study the possibilities of sealing a disposal drift in Boom clay and testing the feasibility of hydraulic cut-off of any preferential pathway to the main access gallery through the excavation damage zone（EDZ） and the lining with a seal in a horizontal drift（horizontal seal）.Indeed,this is a generic problem for all deep geological disposal facilities for HLW.An annular seal made of compacted swelling bentonite will be installed in the front of the heated part of the PRACLAY gallery for these purposes.This paper provides detailed considerations on the thermo-hydro-mechanical（THM） boundary conditions for the design of the PRACLAY heater test and the seal test with the support of numerical calculations.It is believed that these important items considered in the PRACLAY heater test design also constitute key issues for the repository design.The outcome of the PRACLAY heater test will be an important milestone for the Belgian repository design.
