A Study of a Moral Dilemma Stories Teaching Model Focusing on the Development of Higher-Order Thinking --"Synthetic polymers" as an example

Cultivating students'higher-order thinking is one of the important goals of modern education,and innovative teaching model is an effective way to achieve this goal.Aiming at the inadequacy of the existing moral dilemma stories approach in the transformation of knowledge and behavior,this research constructs a new Project Based Learning-Ethical Dilemma Stories(PBL-EDS)Teaching Model applicable to China's secondary education stage based on the innovative features of the moral dilemma stories approach on the core competencies,taking the chemistry subject as an example to carry out practice,and puts forward suggestions for the implementation of the teaching model.Chemistry as an example to carry out the practice,and suggestions are made for the implementation of the teaching model.

Nurses'critical thinking disposition and professional commitment:a cross-sectional study

Objective:High-quality and successful nursing care delivery in a variety of situations requires critical thinking training and professional commitment.The present study aimed to investigate critical thinking disposition,professional commitment,and the relationship between these 2 variables among nurses.Methods:As a result of stratified random sampling,201 nurses were enrolled in the present cross-sectional study.Data were gathered using a socio-demographic form,the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory(CTDI),and the Nurses'Professional Commitment Scale(NPCS).Results:Although the critical thinking disposition scores were at a moderate level(115.70±13.55),the mean score for professional commitment was high(91.37±11.77).A positive correlation was found between critical thinking disposition and professional commitment(r=0.67,P=0.001).Conclusions:Nursing managers are urged to employ strategies to enhance nurses'critical thinking disposition and professional commitment.

On Critical Thinking Skill Cultivation in EFL Teaching

Critical thinking has been recognized internationally as an essential skill for high-quality talents.This article analyzes what the experimental researches on cultivating critical thinking skills in EFL teaching have achieved and identifies the three weaknesses to be addressed in the future.Firstly,there are divergences among scholars on the concept and subskills of critical thinking.Secondly,the teaching modes and methods explored by the experimental researches are more personalized than systematic,which reduces their application and guidance value.Thirdly,the reliability and validity of the experiments need to be improved,and the cultivation practices tend to improve the critical thinking skills of some students,without considering the differences among students,especially the students with relatively poor language proficiency.

Fostering Critical Thinking Skills in the EFL College-Level Classroom Through Online Collaborative Document Tools

Skills of Cultivating Critical Thinking in English Speech

English speech is an important way for international cultural exchange in the context of globalization.Meanwhile,the cultivation of critical thinking has been universally recognized as one of the goals of higher education.However,critical thinking,as a top-level cognitive ability,is extremely abstract and complex,so how to put it into English speech is a challenge.Therefore,in order to simplify the issue,inspired by the interdependent relatiomhip between critical thinking and creativity,this article helps to explore some skills of cultivation.

Analysis of Critical Thinking Skill Training Exercises in EAP Writing Context

Critical thinking,as higher-order thinking,is the use of relatively complex cognitive skills like analyzing,reasoning,making judgments.This paper analyzed the distribution of exercises on critical thinking skills in EAP writing context for EFL students.The data were randomly collected and systematically coded according to the new version of Bloom’s taxonomy of critical thinking cue questions:lower-order thinking(LOT,including remembering,understanding,and applying)and higher-order thinking(HOT,including analyzing,evaluating,and creating).The findings showed that HOT exercises have a higher proportion than LOT exercises in EAP writing context for EFL students.Most cue questions in HOT exercises greatly emphasize the training of critical thinking skills and enhance the effectiveness of promoting learners’critical thinking skills.Therefore,critical thinking skills,as a product of training and practice,tend to be trained to improve students’language learning and development,and especially to facilitate development of cognitive and higher-order cognitive skills.Based on the findings,the training of critical thinking is expected to be improved in English learning for EFL undergraduates,so as to make improvement in cultivating Chinese EFL students’critical thinking skills.

On Cultivating Intercultural Critical Thinking Ability in English Teaching for Non-English Major Graduates

After discussing the important concepts that guide English teaching in universities in China, the author draws a roadmap of Language and Intercultural Critical Thinking Integrated Approach (LICTIA) for English teaching for non-English major graduates in Central University of Finance and Economics, and then expounds on the particulars concerning the application of LICTIA in English classes. English teaching for non-English major graduates aims to cultivate graduates’ global competence and intercultural critical thinking ability besides the improved language skills.

Cultivation of Reading,Writing,and Critical Thinking in the Teaching of Selected Readings in American Literature

Selected Readings in American Literature is a required course for the third year of English major,and it is also a compulsory course for the Bachelor Degree of English Language and Literature at School of Foreign Languages,Leshan Normal University.The course uses the combination of English literary reading and course paper writing to develop students’English reading and writing skills,while focusing on the cultivating critical thinking skills of English majors.

Integral Thinking and its application to Integral Education

After the exploration of different kind of thinking skills oriented to dis-cerning complex issues and phenomena,this article argues about the need to use a new modality of thinking,defined as integral thinking.Based on the holonic theory and on the proprieties of the holons and their part-whole relationships,the paper proposes and characterizes integral think-ing,a kind of thinking that is holistic but also has span and profundity,going beyond conventional Aristotelian epistemic-inspired ways.Integral thinking joins in a single model the assets of premodern,modern and postmodern thinking systems;and helps in going beyond the nowadays syncretism of many perspectives.Integral thinking is the kind of thinking appropriated to the contemporary need to think integrally in science,cul-ture,professions,and arts or about the evolution of personal conscious-ness.It’s useful also to be applied in the diverse professional fields,espe-cially when comprehensive approaches are needed.Integral thinking can be used in holistic education and pedagogies.The use of integral thinking in the educational actuality can help to characterize the integral education practice and agenda.

Discuss the Framework of Edward de Bono＇ s Parallel Thinking Dispositions and Critically Evaluate Its Pedagogical Implications for Teachers in Foreign/Second Language Classroom

The educational orientation in 21 stcentury has shifted from traditional approach that solely driving academic achievement, to a comprehensive orientation that emphasises innovation and diversity. Following this trend, teaching students the skills of thinking such as creative thinking, critical thinking, etc. has been widely recognised as a hot topic in the recent classrooms.Some researches show that Edward de Bono's six thinking hats are affording both teachers and students well-structured framework for thinking skills' training. Therefore, in the EFL/ESL classroom, teachers' teaching targets are likely to promote students' learning outcomes through teaching thinking skills depending on Six Thinking Hats approach and a majority practices show that the results are satisfied.

Critical Thinking Process in English Speech

With the development of mass media,English speech has become an important way for international cultural exchange in the context of globalization.Whether it is a political speech,a motivational speech,or an ordinary public speech,the wisdom and charm of critical thinking are always given into full play.This study analyzes the cultivation of critical thinking in English speech with the aid of representative examples,which is significant for cultivating college students’critical thinking as well as developing their critical thinking skills in English speech.

用T4C模式培养高阶能力:对杜威教学法的重建

约翰·杜威的五步教学法在教育领域具有重要意义。本研究重新审视了杜威的五步教学法,强调该教学法忽视的杜威哲学中的要素:民主、共同体中的交流与合作、对工具的使用、对结果的反思,以及最终作品的产生和共同体的改善。本文通过深入研究杜威著作,结合其中蕴含的其他重要要素提出了T4C模式。T4C模式强调个体的探究性学习(C1代表批判性思维和问题解决,杜威称之为反思性思维或实践)是在共同体中利用工具(Tools,如概念、技术等)以合作(C2)和交流(C3)的方式开展的。这种探究性学习的预期结果是获得创造性的新体验和新工具(C4)。T4C模式为现代社会所迫切需要的工具使用能力、批判性思维、交流能力、合作能力和创新能力等高阶能力,提供了培养框架,其本质在于用高阶能力培养高阶能力,有助于实现杜威社会政治理想中民主与教育的根本关联。

启发式临床医学与案例教学法在内分泌科临床教学中的应用

目的 探究启发式临床医学教学法与案例教学法应用至内分泌科临床教学当中对教学效果及质量的影响。方法 选取2021年2月—2023年1月在湖北医药学院附属国药东风总医院内分泌科实习的54名实习生为研究对象,将2021年2月—2022年1月参与实习的27名实习生纳入对照组,将2022年2月—2023年1月参与实习的27名实习生纳入观察组。对照组实习期间开展传统教学,观察组在实习教学期间应用启发式临床医学教学法结合案例教学法。比较2组出科考核(理论知识、实践技能、病例分析)分数,比较其入科及出科批判性思维能力测试量表(critical thinking disposition inventory-Chinese version,CTDI-CV)评分、医患沟通技能评价量表(set the stage, elicit information,give information,understand the patient’s perspective,end the encounter,SEGUE)评分,调查2组对教学方法有效性的看法。结果 观察组理论知识、实践技能、病例分析出科考核分数[(84.96±6.96)分、(81.48±6.82)分、(83.79±7.15)分]均高于对照组[(79.85±5.73)分、(74.26±6.13)分、(77.95±7.64)分],差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。出科时,2组CTDI-CV总分高于入科时,观察组CTDI-CV总分高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05);2组SEGUE总分高于入科时,观察组SEGUE总分高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。观察组增强临床思维评价、提高自主学习积极性评价、促进团结协作评价、提高应变能力评价认可人数多于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。结论在内分泌科临床教学中应用启发式临床医学教学法及案例教学法,可提高实习生临床综合能力水平,增强其批判性思维,使其与患者开展高效沟通,对科室临床教学质量的提升具有促进作用。

基于雨课堂的混合式教学在外科临床技能培训中的应用研究

目的探讨基于雨课堂的线上线下混合式学习在临床医学专业本科生外科临床技能培训中的应用效果。方法选取2019年2—6月苏州大学苏州医学院2016级五年制临床医学专业学生64名作为对照组,另选取2023年2—6月苏州大学苏州医学院2020级五年制临床医学专业学生65名作为观察组。观察组给予混合式教学,对照组给予常规教学。对比两组临床技能操作考核成绩、临床思维能力考核成绩、教学质量评分及教学满意度。结果观察组临床技能操作考核成绩和临床思维能力考核成绩、学生教学满意度、各项教学质量评分均明显高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P均<0.05)。结论在临床医学专业本科生外科临床技能培训中,采用基于雨课堂的混合式教学法的教学效果理想,能够提高其临床实践技能操作能力、提升医学生临床思维能力、提高学生的教学质量及教学满意度。
