Samples were taken,under standardized procedures, on the same individual at different time such as (A) before leaving to Antarctica(B) 2 weeks after arrival at Great Wall Saution(C) 12. 5 months after arrival(D) after returning back to Beijing for a break(summer-over memos) (E)after returning back to Dening for a long break(winter-over member).Results showed that a Prominent increase of urinary Noradrenaline(NE) in Antarctica(B) decreased at(C),and retUrned to the normal range in comparison with(A) and(D). The increase Of urinary Adrenaline was even greater than that of NE at Antarctica(B). It indicated that an rather early response in activation of sylnpothetic system,especially the adrenal glands,gradually lowered down as time went on.Plasma and urinary cortisol also inereased significantly at Antarctica(B), but sustained for a long time even after returning back to Beijing. Both parameters are closely related to stress syndrome.Plasma Tryptophan decreased significantly at Antarctica (B). Some even sustained after retUrning to Beijing(E). Whether or not,such changes might correlated to the change of 5-HT metabolism in brain,in turn to show some effeCt on psychoological or mental disturbanceS,which should be carefully evaluated.Serum MDA, the perokidation product, increaSing together with the findings of decreased RBC SOD activity, the scanvengrr for O2, and increased plasma glucuronidase, the lysozyme release from damage of lysosome membrane, strongly indicated the presence of cellular damage by increasing O2 production and membrase perokidation and with damage Of lysosome unduly. Severe cold and extensive ultraviolet expeure should be considered carefully.The sitwficances of the above findings were discuss and the possible preventive or therapeutic measures have ben suggested. Since the destruction of the ozonelayer might increase the extent of ultraviolet radiation,it is worth to further investigate the biological damage effect of ultraviolet in Antarctica.展开更多

We measured plasma levels of noradreali...To determine the effect of humoral factors and their interaction on the developement of acute hypoxic pulmonary pressor response (HPPR), we performed studies in 16 mongrel dogs. We measured plasma levels of noradrealin (NE), angiotensin Ⅱ (AII), prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), 6-keto-prostaglandin F1α (6KPGF1α), thromboxane B2 (TXB2), leukotriene B4 (LTB4) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) before, during and after HPPR. Multiple regression analysis showed that the changes of pulmonary arterial systolic pressure (PASP) and pulmonary arterial diastolic pressure (PADP) correlated well with those of plasma concentration of NE, PGF2α and 6KPGF1α, respectively (r were equal to 0.633 and 0.668, respectively, P<0.01). The results of orthogonal experiment analysis with an injection of exogenous NE, PGF2α and PGIα into main pulmonary artery of dogs showed that NE and the interaction of PGF2α and PGI2α increased PASP (P<0.05) and PGI2 attenuated PASP (P<0.01). The interaction of PGF2α and PGI2 and of PGF2α and NE increased PADP(P<0.01) and PGI2 attenuated PADP (P<0.01).展开更多

METHODS: Wistar rats were divided equally into three g...AIM: To study the effect of blocking intestinal lymphatic circulation in two-hit rats and explore the significance of intestinal lymphatic circulation in two-hit. METHODS: Wistar rats were divided equally into three groups: mesenteric lymph duct ligation group, non- ligation group and sham group. Mesenteric lymph was diverted by ligation of mesenteric lymph duct, and the two-hit model was established by hemorrhage and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) methods. All rats were sampled for serum pre-experiment and 24 h post- experiment. The organs including kidney, liver, lung and heart were collected for pathomorphologic observation and biochemical investigation. The nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were determined in serum and tissue homogenate. RESULTS: Pathomorphology study showed that the structures of kidney, lung, liver and heart tissues were normal in sham group; congestion, degeneration and necrosis in non-ligation group; but only mild lesions in ligation group. After two-hits, the contents of AST, ALT, BUN, Cr and LDH-1 in the serum of non-ligation group and ligation group were obviously higher than that in pre-experiment group and sham group, but obviously lower than that in non-ligation group. The contents of NO2-/NO3-, NOS, iNOS and MDA in the serum of non- ligation group were significantly increased, compared with pre-experiment and sham group, but SOD was significantly lower. These parameters were significantly different in ligation group compared with that in sham group, but NO2-/NO3-, iNOS and MDA in ligation group were significantly lower than that in non-ligation group. CONCLUSION: Ligation of mesenteric lymph duct could improve the disturbance of organic function and morphologic damage in two-hit rats; the lymphatic mechanism in two-hit should be emphasized.展开更多

Levels of 22 cytokines, chemokines and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) were measured and analyzed.RESULTS: The following proteins showed significant increase from childhood to adult: interferon-gamma(IFN-γ), interleukin(IL)-13, IL-6, IL-12(p70), IL-10, CCL2, CCL3, CCL4, CXCL8, CXCL9, CXCL10, IFN-α2 and VEGF(all P〈0.05). IFN-γ, IL-13, IL-12(p70), IL-10, CCL3, CXCL9 and VEGF also showed moderate strength age-related increase in the adult group(r〉0.5). The strength of correlation between aging and CCL4 were fair(r=0.398). The concentrations of IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-1β and TNF-α were low in both groups.CONCLUSION: From childhood to adult, the immunological milieu of the anterior chamber become more pro-inflammatory and pro-angiogenic.
