By creating a labor market dynamic general equilibrium model, this paper derives the pass-through mechanism of exchange rate's employment and wage effects,carries out an empirical study on the employment and wage ...By creating a labor market dynamic general equilibrium model, this paper derives the pass-through mechanism of exchange rate's employment and wage effects,carries out an empirical study on the employment and wage effects of RMB exchange rate for manufacturing sectors in China and the United States based on ridge regression, and examines the role of industry characteristics in this process. Research findings suggest that: RMB depreciation will drive employment and wage growth for most of China's laborintensive manufacturing sectors, and RMB appreciation will increase employment for certain capital-and technology-intensive sectors; but RMB depreciation has insignificant employment and wage effects for most sectors in the US. Hence, in achieving the longterm stability of RMB exchange rate, China should take advantage of RMB appreciation's manufacturing upgrade effect and ensure the steady growth of manufacturing employment.The US should make breakthroughs in various links of its economic development in order to tackle unemployment, instead of blaming RMB exchange rate. In addition, the nature of business activities and trade union characteristic are both significant factors that lead to differences in inter-sector employment levels of Chinese and US manufacturing sectors.Technology characteristic and other monopolistic characteristics exert decisive effects on the difference of wage return for various sectors in China and the US.展开更多

Discovery rates for all metals, including gold, are declining, the cost per significant discovery is increasing sharply, and the economic situation of the industry is one of low base rate. The current hierarchical str...Discovery rates for all metals, including gold, are declining, the cost per significant discovery is increasing sharply, and the economic situation of the industry is one of low base rate. The current hierarchical structure of the exploration and mining industry makes this situation difficult to redress. Economic geologists can do little to influence the required changes to the overall structure and philosophy of an industry driven by business rather than geological principles, However, it should be possible to follow the lead of the oil industry and improve the success rate of greenfield exploration, necessary for the next group of lower-exploration-spend significant mineral deposit discoveries. Here we promote the concept that mineral explorers need to carefully consider the scale at which their exploration targets are viewed. It is necessary to carefully assess the potential of drill targets in terms of terrane to province to district scale, rather than deposit scale, where most current economic geology research and conceptual thinking is concentrated. If orogenic, IRGD, Carlin-style and IOCG gold-rich systems are viewed at the deposit scale, they appear quite different in terms of conventionally adop- ted research parameters. However, recent models for these deposit styles show increasingly similar source-region parameters when viewed at the lithosphere scale, suggesting common tectonic settings. It is only by assessing individual targets in their tectonic context that they can be more reliably ranked in terms of potential to provide a significant drill discovery. Targets adjacent to craton margins, other lithosphere boundaries, and suture zones are clearly favoured for all of these gold deposit styles, and such exploration could lead to incidental discovery of major deposits of other metals sited along the same tectonic boundaries.展开更多

In this paper,the influence mechanism on spillover effect is explored from the angles of network and industry information. The food industry has developed into a leading industry in Northeast China.However,various economic indicators have shown a significant downward trend in recent years.Through the systematic analysis of the development...The food industry has developed into a leading industry in Northeast China.However,various economic indicators have shown a significant downward trend in recent years.Through the systematic analysis of the development trend of food industry in Northeast China in the past ten years,especially in 2014,it is found that in the context of stable and smooth operation of the food industry in China,the efficiency of the main processing industries declines in the three northeastern provinces of China,there is a simultaneous decline in the share of output value of the leading industries in the output value of manufacturing sector in three provinces,the collective and individual capital withdrawal is obvious in the paid-up capital,and there is a simultaneous decline in the industrial production and sales rate and the export delivery value.The food industry in Northeast China has plunged into the dilemma of development.Finally,this article puts forward some targeted recommendations from aspects of policy making,industrial agglomeration and enterprise cultivation.展开更多

This approach provides indirect power quality compensation of the load voltage and the source current. Recent studies have suggested that the iUPQC has technical advantages in comparison with the conventional UPQC due to its reduced switching frequency characteristic. In this paper, these technical advantages are investigated. Thus, the iUPQC performance is verified through a 150 kVA industrial equipment and technical design specifications are discussed: the iUPQC power circuit design, the converters arrangement and the driver configuration. Experimental results are provided to validate the technical feasibility and power quality compensation performance.展开更多
