As electric vehicles (EVs) reach a higher penetration of the car sector, cities will need to provide publicly accessible charging stations to meet the charging demand of people who do not have access to a private charging spot like a personal garage. We have chosen to limit our scope to San Diego County due to its non-trivial size, well-defined shape, and dependence on personal vehicles;this project models 100% of current vehicles as electric, roughly 2.5 million. By planning for the future, our model becomes more useful as well as more equitable. We anticipate that our model will find locations that can service multiple population centers, while also maximizing distance to other stations. Sensitivity analysis and testing of our algorithms are conducted for Coronado Island, an island with 24,697 residents. Our formulation is then scaled to set the parameters for the whole county.展开更多
Currently,construction of facilities in the Arctic is carried out on sand islands,but there are limitations for remote coastal conditions.These restrictions are associated with the lack of quarries with construction s...Currently,construction of facilities in the Arctic is carried out on sand islands,but there are limitations for remote coastal conditions.These restrictions are associated with the lack of quarries with construction sand in the immediate vicinity of the work site,as well as the risk of seasonal flooding of the territories.This article includes conceptual solutions for construction of modular piling in Arctic nearshore conditions,upon which drilling rigs and auxiliary equipment can be placed for the purpose of subsequent wildcatting,development and exploratory extended reach drilling wells(with measured depth about 15000 m).During the construction of the modular piling foundations,a mathematical simulation of the thermodynamic condition of the frozen ground was conducted,and the bearing capacity of the foundations was assessed.The proposed solutions will solve these problems by constructing modular pile foundations and placing the necessary infrastructure on them,taking into account the distribution of loads during operation in seasonally flooded areas.展开更多

Drawing upon the relevant spirit of the Military Commission’s documents and leveraging the author’s own work experience in branch offices, this article thoroughly explores the factors influencing the comprehensive assessment of the project and proposes quantitative representation methods for these factors. Utilizing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a hierarchical structure model and judgment matrix for the evaluation factors of the communication troops’ camp construction planning project are constructed, enabling the determination of the weightage of each factor. This provides a certain level of support and reference for the project approval and management by branch offices, while also offering valuable insights for the approval and management of camp planning and construction projects in other types of troops and battlefield projects.展开更多

The promotionand adoption of electric vehicles can effectively alleviate these problems, but the planning ofelectric vehicle charging facilities needs to be resolved as soon as possible. Even though solid waste management is widely researched,there is scanty literature addressing the influence of physical environmental attributes on solid waste management service provision in informal settlements.The ...Even though solid waste management is widely researched,there is scanty literature addressing the influence of physical environmental attributes on solid waste management service provision in informal settlements.The aim of this study was to investigate the nexus between physical infrastructural planning and waste management service.To obtain relevant results,this study used the case study of Peleng township in Botswana.The study relied on empirical data collected from 91 ran-domly selected households.ArcGIS was used for mapping 550 purposively selected households,and for visualization of the physical infrastructure.This study concluded that the community is at the forefront of dealing with waste problems in their settlement.However,their interventions have fallen short of becoming profitable and sustainable due to a failure of the government to integrate solid waste management into mainstream urban development planning.The findings revealed that there is minimal government intervention for improved solid waste management in the area.It recommends that adequate attention must be given to road infrastructure and physical developments in order solid waste management in Peleng,Lobatse.展开更多
