Institutional theory has proved the influence of institutional pressures on organization practices and structures. Meanwhile, with the soaring use of corporate social performance (CSP), more researchers are focusing on exploring the relationship between institution pressures and CSP which is still not completely understood yet. Against this background, the paper aims to fill the gap through generally hypothesizing that different types of institutional pressures individually and collectively affect CSP via the mediating effect of corporate environmental strategy. First, based on the previous and extensive literature review, the theoretical framework and research hypotheses are constructed. Next, canonical correlation analysis about the panel data of 51 Chinese large-scale power generation enterprises from 2004 to 2009 is made to test the relevant hypotheses. Finally, based on the data analysis results, the study draws some conclusions and policy implications for promoting the CSP of Chinese enterprises, including enhancing the steering function of government policies and industry regulations and emphasizing the intermediary role of media. 展开更多

This research investigates the determinants of green supply chain management(GSCM)adoption and its impact on organizational performance, while considering the potential moderating factors influencing GSCM adoption.Despite the growing prevalence of GSCM practices among Korean firms, the factors driving their adoption have not received sufficient attention. To bridge this gap,the study uses structural equation modeling, integrating stakeholder theory and resource-based theory to explore how green entrepreneurial orientation(GEO),institutional pressure, and relational capital affect GSCM adoption.Additionally, the study explores the effects of GSCM implementation on competitiveness and economic performance.Drawing data from a sample of 213 Korean manufacturing firms, the PLS-SEM analysis highlights the significant influence of GEO,institutional pressure, and relational capital on GSCM adoption.Additionally, the study emphasizes the positive impact of GSCM implementation on firm competitiveness. These findings provide valuable insights for enhancing sustainability in supply chain management and are applicable to similar context countries such as Taiwan,China,Japan, and the Netherlands. 展开更多

In this study,we examine the peer effect on climate risk information disclosure by analyzing A-share listed companies in China. We find that industry peers influence target firms’climate risk information disclosure through active(passive)imitation resulting from cost-benefit considerations(institutional pressures).Leader companies are more likely to be emulated by within-industry follower companies and target firms prefer to learn from similar withinindustry firms.Executive overconfidence and performance pressure negatively affect target firms’willingness to emulate their peers. Finally, the peer effect of climate risk information disclosure demonstrates a regional aspect. Our findings have implications for reasonable climate risk information disclosure at the micro level and effective regulation to move toward achieving carbon peak/neutrality at the macro level. 展开更多

The focus of this article is this question: under China's present household registration system, what factors influence migrant workers' decisions to obtain urban household registration in order to stay permanently in the city? Our research finds that if willingness to give up their land is used as the indicator for behavioral permanent migration, the main factors that influence migrant workers' intention to migrate will be their individual motives for migration, i.e. choices based on economic rationality. If wishing to transfer their household registration to the cities where they work is used as the indicator for institutional permanent migration, the main factors that influence their intentions will be regional conditions and the pressure of institutional legitimacy, and their choices will be socially rational in that they are seeking institutional protection to improve their life in the city. Groups with different aspirations vary in their individual motivations for migration and the degree to which they feel the pressure of institutional legitimacy. 展开更多
