Previous studies of Islamism basically focus on representative scholars and their thoughts on Islamism. This article attempts to sum up the pivotal doctrines of Islamism and hopefully shed light on its future trends through a comparative study. It suggests that the doctrines of self-sufficiency and‘Jahiliyyah’(ignorance)of Islamism, the doctrine of‘Islamic State’and Islamic Order, and the doctrine of Allah’s Sovereignty and political consultation function as the three pivotal doctrines of Islamism.Relevant comparison indicates that, although specific Islamic thinkers have their own foci, their thoughts are all in a similar vein.In addition, with the development of times and the advancement of society, the analysis of Islamism,by no means a fossilised set of ideologies, also undergoes constant changes and adjustments. 展开更多

The issue of a dual system of education has been largely discussed among Muslim scholars and intellectuals all over the world.Efforts have been made by scholars through the proposal of different ideas and approaches towards achieving an ideal Islamic curriculum. This paper aims to share the experience of Brunei Darussalam in implementing a design model of an Islamic curriculum. The idea of designing an Islamic curriculum model was formally discussed among educationists in 1998,although the issue of dualism of education in Brunei was raised much earlier,in the 1970s.Towards achieving this,on January 3,2004,the Ministry of Education in Brunei Darussalam implemented the‘Integrated Education System’in all primary schools in Brunei Darussalam. This system was implemented for only two years(2004,2005).A fieldwork research study using a survey questionnaire was conducted in 2008 among 114 general primary school teachers to explore the issues and challenges encountered in implementing the system. The findings have demonstrated that although the issue of dualism in education is currently a significant topic of discussion within Muslim societies, teachers and educationist lag far behind in realizing this issue, ostensibly because they have not been exposed to the matter. There are also other issues and challenges in implementing this system, which will be discussed later in this paper. 展开更多

In the years following independence,Kazakhstan witnessed a reemergence of religious phenomenon, particularly in the form of‘Islamic revival,’generating a kind of post-Soviet‘Islamic extremism’narrative. The discussions, describing Islamic revival as a‘security concern’and‘potential threat’to Kazakhstan’s secular objectives have deluged the academic, political, and policy discourse.Nevertheless, the question essential to contextualise the whole debate is whether the nature of‘Islamic revival’does follow the prescriptive conditions as anticipated by the privatisation of religion theory, reducing the stimulus of religion to an individual’s‘private matter’or whether it has become a social function, affecting people’s inspirations and aspirations both at the individual and collective level. To analyse this question methodologically, the study discusses theoretical formulations that are relevant to understanding the nature and scope of Islamic revival in the postSoviet Kazakh context. Then, the study examines the practical impact of Islamic revival and makes reference to an institutionalization of Islam through religious, economic and political institutions. The study argues, after independence, despite the secular and authoritarian nature of the government,‘Islamic revival’has become an institutionalised phenomenon and its appearance and social function in the public space has increased rather than decreased. 展开更多

Local seasonal migrations have long been common in France, and the migrations can be throughout the whole Europe. The identification and assessment of such migration in European countries trace back to 1805 under the Napoleonic Empire regime, when nationality was based on jus sanguinis(Latin, right of blood)with the ultimate purpose of ensuring sufficient recruits in the Napoleonic armies, which is unlike the Republican France today that defines nationality on the basis of jus soli(Latin, right of the soil, also known as birthright citizenship). At the beginning of the 21st century, immigration has become a major challenge to the French domestic policy, and is closely linked to the issues of public safety, national identity, labor market, development of the European Union public policy, and the integration of the second generation by the secular, republican French model. The migration within and outside of the Europe demonstrates four conceptual issues:European residents’country of origin,French nationality, the exercising of French citizenship, and the construction of a personal identity in the context of a more and more complex family ethnic composition after the restructuring. 展开更多

The main purpose of this paper is to identify the function and the lexical features of the sentence in the delivery of information of waqaf and zakat in Malaysia based on the background, participants and goals.A sample of the Friday sermons issued by the Malaysian Department of Islamic Development in 2009 has been selected;this contains information concerning waqaf and zakat resilience in the Malay language. The unit of analysis is the sentence of the paragraph. The approach of analysis is based on the functionalism in sentence and lexical features of the Malay language proposed by Asmah Haji Omar(2000;2005).As discussed in this paper, both the function and the lexical features of the sentence are able to link the background, participants and goals with the enhancement of the language users’awareness in the delivery of information of waqaf and zakat. 展开更多
