The Translation of Slangs in Two English Versions of Jin Ping Mei

The Chinese classical novel Jin Ping Mei abounds with a large number of slangs,which correspondingly leads to the difficulty of the novel’s English translation and also gives rise to the emergence of diversified English versions.The two English translators,Clement Egerton and David Roy,adopted completely different translation strategies when dealing with Chinese slangs in the novel.Their different translation purposes account for the significant disparity concerning the slang translation.Clement Egerton pays more attention to the novel’s plot in his English version The Golden Lotus,rather than the unique expressions of the original language,so that in the concrete translation process,a domestication strategy is adopted for the sake of the target language readers’understanding,resulting in distortion and omission of the slang expressions in the translated text.By contrast,the translation purpose which guides David Roy’translation The Plum in the Golden Vase is to convey the complexity and literariness of the original Chinese text,and hence the foreignization strategy is employed concerning slang translation,which aims to accurately reproduce the unique expressions of slangs in the original text.Comparatively speaking,David Roy’s translation succeeds in preserving the Chinese slangs to the greatest extent both in form and meaning,and can shed light for the slang translation in other Chinese literary works.

A Study of the Treatment of Disfiguring Diseases in the “Qian Jin Fang”

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has been passed down for more than 2,000 years.TCM beauty products driven by the principles of identification and treatment with various dosage forms and exhibit mild and safe efficacy are bound to become a main component of the beauty industry in the future.Xu once commented that“Qian Jin Fang”is different from the traditional prescription system,which emphasizes the use of medicines.In this paper,we mainly selected the prescriptions for the treatment of disfigurement diseases such as acne,scarring,black dryness,face hyperpigmentation,black mole,and rosacea from the article titled,“Upper Seven Orifices Disease-Facial Medicine IX”in the Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang[1].By studying and analyzing the original composition of the formula,understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of the disease,and exploring the characteristics of the formula concerning the efficacy of TCM,their properties,flavors,and meridians,we summarized the characteristics of the Qian Jin Fang.It is based on the external treatment of disfigurement diseases,with a wide variety of drugs,flexibility,and accuracy.This method draws upon analogies while utilizing excipients and harmonizers to focus on the combined healing approach of treatment and nourishment.

鸡传染性支气管炎病毒Jin13株的分离与鉴定

为了对近年从郑州郊区鸡群中分离到的1株传染性支气管炎病毒(Jin13株)进行定型鉴定,作者采用气管环(TOC)中和试验、血凝抑制(HI)试验、单抗交叉ELISA、序列分析和免疫试验对其进行了研究。气管环(TOC)中和试验和血凝抑制(HI)试验表明Jin13病毒只与M41阳性血清反应,而与其它ND、EDS76、H9AI、IBD标准阳性血清不发生反应,序列分析证实该分离毒Jin13株是IBV。在交叉气管环(TOC)中和试验和交叉血凝抑制(HI)试验中Jin13株与肾变型Y株不交叉(R≤0.25),而与马萨株血清型的M41株和H52株有明显交叉(0.25≤R≤0.8);单抗交叉ELISA结果显示Jin13株与针对M41株的J1单抗有很好的反应(≥640～1 280),而与针对肾变型Y株的单抗C2几乎不反应(≤40),这进一步证实了Jin13与呼吸型M41株、H52株属同一血清型。与M41株相比较,Jin13株S1氨基酸序列在第126,386,390,461位出现了突变,又在S1基因第1 166位出现一个新Aiu I酶切位点,是M41株的一个变异株。对Jin13株纯化后原代毒进行免疫效力检测证实其免疫原性优于M41株和H52株。Jin13毒株是一株免疫原性良好的IBV地方流行毒株。

JiniSolve:一种基于Jini的元计算架构的基本体系结构及其初步应用

Discovery of Jinning Cycle Magmatism in Eastern Part of Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt and Its Significance

From the isotopic dating study of gneissic granodiorite, the authors discovered magmatism of the Jinning cycle. Intrusive rocks were formed in the Neoproterozoic, whose Pb Pb ages range from (913±4) Ma to (1 011±4) Ma and U Pb concordia age is (703±15) Ma. The tectonic settings of the rocks are volcanic arc or syn collision. After the formation of the intrusive rocks, these rocks also experienced reconstruction of Caledonian metamorphism. Based on the Ar Ar dating of metamorphic mineral of muscovite, the metamorphic time is determined to range from (386.8±0.8) Ma to (389.44±3.70) Ma.

Case-control study on regular Ba Duan Jin practice for patients with chronic neck pain

Purpose:To observe the long-term effects of regular Ba Duan Jin exercises for patients with chronic neck pain.Methods:Participants with chronic neck pain were instructed to perform
30 min/d of Ba Duan Jin exercises(n?36)or assigned to a control group(n?36)for six months.Data from a visual analogue scale,Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire,and the 36-item Shortform Health Survey(SF-36)were collected before,and three and six months after intervention began.Results:Participants undergoing Ba Duan Jin exercises achieved significantly greater improvement than the controls in visual analogue scale,Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire and SF-36 health transition scores(all p<0.05).However,no significant differences were observed in SF-36 physical or mental component summaries.Conclusion:Regular Ba Duan Jin practice reduces suffering and pain,and increases health satisfaction in individuals with chronic neck pain.

Quality Analysis and High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Fingerprint Analysis of New Cultivated Kind of <i>Lonicerae japonicae</i>Flos “Hua Jin 6” from Different Harvest Times

Lonicerae japonicaeFlos (LJF) is widely used in traditional Chinese medicines for the treatment of various diseases, which is now in great demand every year and has a broad development prospect. However, the flowering phase of common LJF varieties is so short, which seriously restricts the development of LJF industry. As a new cultivated kind of Lonicerae japonicae Flos, “Hua Jin 6” has characteristics in long flowering phase and conveniently picking, which makes it have a broad development prospect. The aim of this study is to provide scientific guidance for its suitable harvest period by measuring yield and quality of “Hua Jin 6” from different harvest time. Studies show that flower size had a slowly rising trend from the first day to the seventh day, and then slowly declined or kept stable. There were no significant differences of total phenolic acid contents in different samples from different days, but contents of total flavonoids were on the rise and up to maximum in the ninth day. The contents of total iridoids had an increasing tendency from the first day to the fifth day and then kept relatively stable in other days. We demonstrated that the quality of “Hua Jin 6” is relatively stable and suitable for harvesting in all flower buds white stage in term of HPLC fingerprints. Our findings can make it possible to select the suitable time for different harvest purpose.

The characteristics and correlative research of“Jin Shang”associated with chronic neck pain in young adults based on ultrasound imaging

Objective:To investigate the characteristics of'Jin Shang',a specialized term in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory,in young adults with chronic neck pain(CNP)and investigated the correlation of'Jin Shang'with pain intensity and living disabilities using cross-section study.Methods:The thickness of the bilateral splenius capitis and semispinalis capitis were measured by ultrasound imaging(USI)as the objective performance of'Jin Shang'.The visual analogue scale(VAS)and Northwick Park Questionnaire(NPQ)were used to assess pain intensity and living disability.The Student's t test was used to investigate the difference in neck extensor muscle(NEM)thickness between CNP patients and healthy controls.Pearson's correlation and multiple linear regression were applied to investigate the relationship between NEM thickness,pain intensity and disability.Results:Fifty-nine young adult CNP patients and 16 healthy controls were recruited in this study,in accordance with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.The student's t test showed that in CNP patients,the thickness of the semispinalis capitis during isometric contraction was significantly thinner than that of healthy controls(P=.04).Pearson's correlation analysis also revealed significant relationships between NEM thickness,VAS,and NPQ,while multiple linear regression showed that the thickness of the NEM in CNP patients was a significant predictor of pain intensity and disability.Conclusion:There was a significant difference in the thickness of the NEM in young adults with CNP when compared to healthy controls.Alterations in the NEM thickness in both rest and contraction are moderately related to neck pain and living disabilities.Our results investigated the characteristics of'Jin Shang'using USI and revealed a correlation between'Jin Shang'and CNP symptoms,which demonstrates that NEM plays an important role in CNP.

Simultaneous quantification of five major active components in capsules of the traditional Chinese medicine 'Shu-Jin-Zhi-Tong' by high performance liquid chromatography

A simple and reliable high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） method has been developed for the simultaneous quantification of five major bioactive components in ＇Shu-Jin- Zhi-Tong＇ capsules （SJZTC）, for the purposes of quality control of this commonly prescribed traditional Chinese medicine. Under the optimum conditions, excellent separation was achieved, and the assay was fully validated in terms of linearity, precision, repeatability, stability and accuracy. The validated method was applied successfully to the determination of the five compounds in SJZTC samples from different production batches. The HPLC method can be used as a valid analytical method to evaluate the intrinsic quality of SJZTC.

Detection of Berberine Hydrochloride in Jin Weng Zhili Particle Using TLC and HPLC

[Objectives]To screen optimum conditions of HPLC and TLC for qualitative discrimination of berberine hydrochloride contained in Jin Weng Zhili Particle,thus providing basis for quality standard. [Methods]According to the method described in Chinese Veterinary Pharmacopoeia,thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography were used respectively for qualitative and quantitative identification of berberine hydrochloride contained in Jin Weng Zhili Particle by improving the conditions of extraction and purification. [Results]After optimizing TLC conditions of Jin Weng Zhili Particle,the separation effect of TLC of test samples was favorable. The spot color was clear,reproducibility was good,and precision was high. Under the conditions of mobile phase constituted by acetonitrile-water-glacial acetic acid-triethylamine( 28∶ 70∶ 1∶ 1),detection wavelength of 265 nm,flow rate of 1. 0 m L min^(-1)and column temperature of 35℃,the resolution of berberine hydrochloride was good; the injection volume in the range of 3. 15-50 μg· m L^(-1)had good linear relationship with the peak area( R^2= 0. 998); the average sample recovery rate(n=6) was 5. 672%,and RSD was 0. 864%; the content of berberine hydrochloride contained in Jin Weng Zhili Particle was 4. 023 mg. [Conclusions]The method was of good feasibility,reproducibility and specificity,and could be used for qualitative and quantitative detection of berberine hydrochloride contained in Jin Weng Zhili Particle.

Rapid Quantification of Chinese Medicine Zuo Jin Pill via RRLC

A rapid method based on rapid resolution liquid chromatography（RRLC） coupled with a diode array detector（DAD） was developed for the simultaneous determination of six major constituents（magnoflorine,jatrorrhizine,coptisine,palmatine,berberine and evodiamine） in traditional Chinese medicine（TCM） Zuo Jin Pill（ZJP）.The satisfactory chromatographic separation was carried on an Eclipse Plus C18 column（1.8 μm i.d.,150 mm×4.6 mm） by linear gradient elution with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-acetate buffer.All the calibration curves show good linearity（r2 0.9998）.The detection limits and quantification limits ranged in 1.4―12 ng and 4.8―30 ng,respectively.The intra-and inter-day precisions were less than 0.63% with accuracies 98.60%―100.78%,and the recoveries were from 99.45% to 100.46%.Furthermore,hierarchical cluster analysis（HCA） was used to evaluate the variation of the herbal prescription.The results demonstrate that this analytical method is simple,sensitive and reliable for rapidly analyzing six major bioactive compounds in ZJPs and is helpful to comprehensively evaluating the quality of this TCM.

A Further Research on the Precambrian-Cambrian Boundary at Meishucun Section of Jinning, Yunnan, China

This paper gives a brief report on the latest results in litho-, bio-, and chrono-stratigraphy obtained fromthe authors' further research on the Meishucun section during 1987-1988. More attention was paid to the studyof the microtexture of Lapworthella and some new materials of trace fossils. Phycodes pendum Seilacher, animportant index for correlation, was also discovered in the Zhongyicun Member. In the Yu' anshan Membermany worms, medusas and arthropods of the Chengjiang fauna have been found by other workers. Asupplemental study was made on the fossil zones of the Meishucunian stage. Based on new isotopic data, theage of the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary should now be 597 Ma. It is further suggested that point 'B' re-mains as an optimum selection for defining the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary.
