Security of electronic commerce includes communication security, secure payment and goods delivery. Few so...Popularization and acceptance of an electronic commerce system mainly depends on its security and ease of use. Security of electronic commerce includes communication security, secure payment and goods delivery. Few solutions take merchant fraud problem into account despite its important role in electronic commerce. Disputes resolution is one way to solve merchant fraud but in general it is only useful for online information goods or judgement of fraudulent side. This paper focuses on how to solve merchant fraud problem. As previous electronic commerce schemes cannot solve merchant fraud problem due to its inherent weakness in structure, we put forward a new revolutionary scheme that is named ELC(electronic letter of credit) as it simulates letter of credit commonly used in imports and exports. ELC is a revolutionary progress in electronic commerce as it solves merchant fraud problem without weakening security of other aspects. An electronic commerce system prototype, called SEMALL, is under implementation. SEMALL consists of an electronic payment system named BEARCAT and a Web Mall named VE. BEARCAT is developed on the basis of ELC as an instance of ELC scheme. The process of a BEARCAT transaction is described and analyzed detailedly in the paper. Examination of the course of the development of this idea leads to the conclusion that the conception of beauty doesn＇t exhaust itself in the traditional Aristotelian vision but implies a connection with virtu and with human values on which is based the society. In my analysis 1 will proceed comparing the visions of three authors which apparently belong to different environments but have the same cultural roots. In my investigation of the concept of beauty present in Francesco Barbaro＇s ＂De re uxoria＂, Leon Battista Alberti＇s ＂I libri della famiglia＂ and Benedetto Cotrugli＇s ＂II libro dell＇arte di mercatura＂, I will trace the definition of beauty which is far from simple physical gracefulness but is based on Aristotelian system of virtues. William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice(1600)is controversial as a result of its negative depiction of the Jewish figure Shylock.In translating this literary work into Chinese,the translator is quite possibly in...William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice(1600)is controversial as a result of its negative depiction of the Jewish figure Shylock.In translating this literary work into Chinese,the translator is quite possibly involved in reconstructing the image of Jews,as Shylock being the representative in The Merchant of Venice,consciously,or unconsciously.In this paper,the translation of The Merchant of Venice by Shiqiu Liang(2001)is selected to find out how the image of Jews is conveyed to the Chinese readers.Due to the translator’s translation principle of being loyal to the original text,the content in the original text is transferred to the target readers without manipulation.However,the translation work was conducted with a particular social background which is believed to have influenced the translator’s interpretation of the original text.Accompanied the selected translation is a paratext,in which the translator expresses his own opinion on both the playwright and the Jewish and non-Jewish figures in the play;with this paratext,the target readers understand the figures in the play in a different way.Therefore,a different image of Jews is reconstructed in the translation,which is mainly analyzed at the level of larger textual units reflecting hierarchical relations from the perspective of imagology.展开更多
