We report theoretical studies on the newly discovered novel Josephson effect and scanning tunneling spectroscopy(STS) at the interface of strontium titanate/lanthanum aluminate(STO/LAO).With a phenomenological boson-fermion model, the density of states is calculated and the results are consistent with the STS experiments.A typical calculation of Josephson effect is performed, and it is in qualitative agreement with the experiments.The calculations indicate that the gap states come from the pairing of quasi-particles with a finite total momentum and the Josephson current comes from the tunneling of quasi-particle pairs with zero momentum.The quasi-particles are Bogoliubov quasi-particles.Moreover, the fits using Kulik's formula imply that the Josephson junction at the STO/LAO interface has a point contact with the clean superconductor limit. 展开更多

Proposal on Tunneling Effect between Quantum Hall States

In the integer and fractional quantum Hall effects, the electric current flows through a thin layer under the strong magnetic field. The diagonal resistance becomes very small at integer and specific fractional filling factors where the electron scatterings are very few. Accordingly the coherent length is large and therefore a tunneling effect of electrons may be observed. We consider a new type of a quantum Hall device which has a narrow potential barrier in the thin layer. Then the electrons flow with tunneling effect through the potential barrier. When the oscillating magnetic field is applied in addition to the constant field, the voltage steps may appear in the curve of voltage V versus electric current I. If the voltage steps are found in the experiment, it is confirmed that the 2D electron system yields the same phenomenon as that of the ac-Josephson effect in a superconducting system. Furthermore the step V is related to the transfer charge Q as V = (hf)/Q where f is the frequency of the oscillating field and h is the Planck constant. Then the detection of the step V determines the transfer charge Q. The ratio Q/e (e is the elementary charge) clarifies the origin of the transfer charge. Many conditions are required for us to observe the tunneling phenomenon. The conditions are examined in details in this article. 展开更多

The degree of entanglement between the quantized field and the single-Cooper-pair box is examined by using the field entropy. It is found that the collapse and revival phenomenon can exist in this system, the entropy reaches its local minimum at one-half of the quiescent period, and the larger the entropy, the greater the entanglement is. 展开更多

We review our theoretical advances in quantum tunneling of BoseEinstein condensates in optical traps and in microcavities. By employing a real physical system, the frequencies of the pseudo Goldstone modes in different phases between two optical traps are studied respectivdy, which are tile crucial feature of the non-Abelian Joseptmon effect. When the optical lattices are under gravity, we investigate the quantum tummling in the "Wannier-Stark localization" regime and "Lan(lau Zener tunneling" regime. We finally get the total decay rate and the rate is valid over the entire range of temperatures. At high temperatures, we show how the decay rate reduces to the appropriate results for the classical thermal activation. At hltermediate temperatures, the results of tile total decay rate are consistent with the thermally assisted tunneling. At low temperatures, we obtain the pure quantmn tunneling ultimately. And we study the alternating-current and direct-current (ac and de) photonic 3osephson effects in two weakly linked microcavities containing ultracold two-level atones, which allows for direct observation of the effects. This enables new investigations of the effect of maw-body physics in strongly coupled atom-cavity systems and provides a strategy for constructing novel interference devices of coherent photons. In addition, we propose the experimental protocols to observe these quantmn tunneling of Bose- Einstein condensates. 展开更多
