Development and Application of Gum─membrane Method for Enterobiasis

Anewdetectingmethodforenterobiasis,caledgum-membranemethod,wasrecentlydevelopedbytheauthor.Inthepreliminaryexperiment,300pupilsand86adultsinYangzhongCounty,JiangsuProvincewereexaminedandthepositiveratesofE.vermiculariseggwere28.7%and13.1%,respectively.Therewasnosignificantdifferencebetwenthepositiveratesofthemaleandfemale.Theeggsperianalregionpresentedinnonuniformlyscateredorclustereddistribution.Themostnumberoftheeggsfoundinonecasewas3161withanaverageof87.1eggspercm2.However,9caseswithonly1eggonthewholemembranealsowerefoundout.Desksorstationerymaybeanimportanttransmitedvectorbecause76.7%ofthepositiveeggpupilspresentedalocaldistributioninclasroomsand42.9%ofthemwasthecompan-ionsbysameshareddesks.Intheextendedapplication,892childrenofthrekinder-gartensinNanjingweredetectedbythemethodand46casesofthemwerefoundtobetheeggpositive.TheinfectionratesofE.vermicularisinthethreekindergartenswere4.95%,6.05%and3.05%,respectively.Theresultsshowthatthismethodissimple,practicalandefficient,anditofersabasisforfurtherstandardizationoftheexami-nationofE.vermicularis.
