The Impact of Comment Style on Learners’ Essay Revisions

This paper investigates how the type of written feedback provided by teachers affects learners’ ability to revise essays. A total of 120 participants participated in two rounds of essay composition and feedback delivery. The findings indicate that learners who receive comments in the form of questions are more prone to make revisions compared to those receiving statements or imperatives. These results hold significant implications for educators and the ways they utilize written feedback to enhance learners’ writing skills.

Stylistic Effects of Parentheses and Dashes as Paratexts in Essays of Elia

The distinctive style of Charles Lamb’s essays has been interpreted in different ways-abundant allusions and rhetorical devices,quaintness and vernacular,antique colloquialism,witty humor,bitter sweetness,profound humanity,etc.Nevertheless,so far the extensive use of parentheses and dashes in his representative work Essays of Elia has not been paid enough attention and a detailed investigation is virtually absent.This paper presents an effort to analyze Essays of Elia through probing into the parentheses and dashes as paratexts in regard to their stylistic effects from two perspectives-the linguistic perspective and the semantic perspective,in hope of expanding the scope of“paratext”.The major finding of the paper is that in Essays of Elia,parentheses and dashes as paratexts serving as stylistic markers are indispensable supplements which have special stylistic effects.

复合材料Lamb波检测中S0单模式信号的提取

Lamb波的频散与多模式现象以及复合材料的各向异性限制了复合材料的应用研究。文章以玻璃纤维增强复合材料层合板为研究对象,利用图形法进行Lamb波频散方程求解,由此绘制频散曲线并分析了频散现象,计算了A0,S0的传播速度。搭建了试验系统,基于HHT变换,提取了信号特征并获取了信号的传播速度。结合A0,S0的速度理论值,实现了对Lamb波S0单模式的提取,由此简化了lamb波的使用,使之可广泛应用于复合材料的损伤检测。

Lamb waves topological imaging combining with Green’s function retrieval theory to detect near filed defects in isotropic plates

A method of combining Green’s function retrieval theory and ultrasonic array imaging using Lamb waves is presented to solve near filed defects in thin aluminum plates.The defects are close to the ultrasonic phased array and satisfy the near field calculation formula.Near field acoustic information of defects is obscured by the nonlinear effects of initial wave signal in a directly acquired response using the full matrix capture mode.A reconstructed full matrix of inter-element responses is produced from cross-correlation of directly received ultrasonic signals between sensor pairs.This new matrix eliminates the nonlinear interference and restores the near-field defect information.The topological imaging method that was developed in recent ultrasonic inspection is used for displaying the scatterers.The experiments are conducted on both thin aluminum plates containing two and four defects, respectively.The results show that these defects are clearly identified when using a reconstructed full matrix.The spatial resolution is equal to about one wavelength of the selectively excited mode and the identifiable defect is about one fifth of the wavelength.However, in a conventional directly captured image,the images of defects overlap together and cannot be distinguished.The proposed method reduces the background noise and allows for effective topological imaging of near field defects.

Comprehensive form of solution for Lamb's dynamic problem expressed by Green's functions

By the analysis for the vectors of a wave field in the cylindrical coordinate and Sommerfeld＇s identity as well as Green＇s functions of Stokes＇ solution pertaining the conventional elastic dynamic equation, the results of Green＇s function in an infinite space of an axisymmetric coordinate are shown in this paper. After employing a supplementary influence field and the boundary conditions in the free surface of a senti-space, the authors obtain the solutions of Green＇s function for Lamb＇s dynamic problem. Besides, the vertical displacement uzz and the radial displacement urz can match Lamb＇s previous results, and the solutions of the linear expansion source u^r and the linear torsional source uee are also given in the paper. The authors reveal that Green＇s function of Stokes＇ solution in the semi-space is a comprehensive form of solution expressing the dynamic Lamb＇s problem for various situations. It may benefit the investigation of deepening and development of Lamb＇s problems and solution for pertinent dynamic problems conveniently.

Lamb's integral formulas of two-phase saturated medium for soil dynamic with drainage

When dynamic force is applied to a saturated porous soil, drainage is common. In this paper, the saturated porous soil with a two-phase saturated medium is simulated, and Lamb＇s integral formulas with drainage and stress formulas for a two-phase saturated medium are given based on Biot＇s equation and Betti＇s theorem （the reciprocal theorem）. According to the basic solution to Biot＇s equation, Green＇s function Gij and three terms of Green＇s function G4i, Gi4, and G44 of a two-phase saturated medium subject to a concentrated force on a spherical coordinate are presented. The displacement field with drainage, the magnitude of drainage, and the pore pressure of the center explosion source are obtained in computation. The results of the classical Sharpe＇s solutions and the solutions of the two-phase saturated medium that decays to a single-phase medium are compared. Good agreement is observed.

Effect of Feeding Different Levels of Dietary Protein and Addition of Baker＇s Yeast （Saccharomyces cerevisiae） on Productive Parameters of Awassi Lambs

Forty eight individually fed Awassi male lambs were used in factorial experiment to investigate their responses to feeding concentrate diets containing three levels of dietary crude protein （CP）, each was offered without or with baker＇s yeast （SC） at rate of 0.5% （on dry matter （DM） basis）. Concentrates were offered at rate of 3% of live body weight with free choice of barley straw. Results revealed that higher （P 〈 0.05） digestible dry matter （DDM） and digestible organic matter （DOM） intakes were achieved due to feeding medium level of CP and to the addition of SC. Addition of SC improved （P 〈 0.05） gain, lambs fed medium and high levels gained higher （P 〈 0.05） than those fed the low level of dietary CP. Feed conversion ratio （FCR） based on DM and organic matter （OM） intakes was not significantly affected by level of dietary CP or addition of yeast. Even though, less amount of N required per unit of gain was achieved with low and medium as compared to high levels. Higher DM, nitrogen free extract （NFE） and hemicellulose （P 〈 0.05）, OM, CP, crude fiber （CF） and cellulose （P 〈 0.01） digestibilities were achieved in lambs fed the medium level of CP, whereas, no significant effect was observed on ether extract （EE）, neutral detergent fiber （NDF） and acid detergent fiber （ADF） digestibilities. Results also revealed that digestibility of almost all nutrients was improved with different extent due to addition of SC. Effect of interaction between levels of dietary CP and addition of SC referred to the preferability of addition of SC with medium level of dietary protein.

EXACT SOLUTION FOR A TWO-DIMENSIONAL LAMB'S PROBLEM DUE TO A STRIP IMPULSE LOADING

By applying the integral transform method and the inverse transformation technique based upon the two types of integration, the present paper has successfully obtained an exact algebraic solution for a two-dimensional Lamb＇s problem due to a strip impulse loading for the first time. With the algebraic result, the excitation and propagation processes of stress waves, including the longitudinal wave, the transverse wave, and Rayleigh-wave, are discussed in detail. A few new conclusions have been drawn from currently available integral results or computational results.

Misreading Rousseau？ Jacques Derrida＇s Deconstructive Reading of Rousseau＇s Essay on the Origin of Languages

Jacques Derrida＇s engagement with Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the second part of Of Grammatology constitutes the most systematic, extensive example of deconstructive reading. Nevertheless, the problem of whether Derrida reproduces Rousseau＇s basic claims adequately has remained a peripheral concern. This has meant that this may constitute a misreading and the consequences that this would have for the deconstructive operation itself have not adequately examined. Hence, this enquiry into Derrida＇s reading of Rousseau centers upon the extent to which Derrida distorts Rousseau＇s text in order to be able to confirm deconstruction＇s radical theoretical positions.

基于压电陶瓷片的Lamb波单模态激励及缺陷检测的实验研究

为了激励Lamb波单一模态的S0和A0,采用2个相同的直径14 mm、厚0.8 mm的压电陶瓷片对称粘贴在2 mm厚的有机玻璃板上作激励传感器,在另一位置布置同一尺寸的压电陶瓷片作接收传感器.采用一发一收法,在低于100 kHz的频段内,激励传感器在板中分别单片、2片对称和反对称并联激励Lamb波,分析接收信号中模态成分的变化.并在此基础上,采用3种不同的激励Lamb波的方式对板中模拟缺陷进行了检测.实验结果表明,在一定频段内,对称并联激励压电陶瓷片可以有效抑制A0模态,得到较为单一的S0模态,而反对称并联激励压电陶瓷片能有效抑制S0模态,得到较为单一的A0模态;激励的Lamb波信号中模态越单一,缺陷回波越易识别.

Lamb波损伤散射及损伤成像的模拟

Lamb波对称模态(S0模态)具有传播速度快、频散小的优点。基于Ansys瞬态动力学分析,模拟了铝板内S0模态的传播过程,并根据有限元模拟的位移云图,分析了损伤对S0模态传播的影响。在此基础上建立环形传感器阵列,通过损伤成像算法对损伤进行检测。

超声Lamb波检测三维平板孔状缺陷的有限元模拟

通过数值计算求解Lamb波的频散特性方程,绘制钢板中Lamb波的频散特性曲线,分析不同模态Lamb波在钢板内的传播特性。基于ANSYS瞬态动力学分析方法,建立S0模态超声Lamb波检测钢板内孔状缺陷的有限元分析模型,通过群速度计算校核分析S0模态和SH0模态水平剪切波,得出其传播过程中振幅呈指数变化趋势。在孔状缺陷周围建立环形信号接收点,得到Lamb波作用缺陷后的散射特性和模态转化规律,散射波能量关于X轴对称分布,且随缺陷尺寸增加有增大趋势,透射波能量随缺陷尺寸增加而减小。

Germination of Chenopodium Album in Response to Microwave Plasma Treatment

The seeds of Lamb＇s Quarters （Chenopodium album agg.） were stimulated by low- pressure discharge. The tested seeds were exposed to plasma discharge for different time durations （from 6 minutes to 48 minutes）. Germination tests were performed under specified laboratory conditions during seven days in five identical and completely independent experiments. Significant differences between the control and plasma-treated seeds were observed. The treated seeds showed structural changes on the surface of the seat coat. They germinated faster and their sprout accretion on the first day of seed germination was longer. Germination rate for the untreated seeds was 15% while it increased approximately three times （max 55%） for seeds treated by plasma from 12 minutes to 48 minutes.

EMAT在铝板上下表面激发lamb波的单一模态仿真研究

EMAT激发出的用于无损检测的lamb波具有多模态和频散的特点,这就给信号的后续处理和分析造成了一定的困难。根据在低频厚积的条件下lamb波对称模态A0和反对称模态S0的振动特点,在运用ANSYS仿真时采用点力仿真的方法,在铝板的上下表面相对应的位置同时施加不同方向x轴和y轴的洛伦兹力。就结果进行了比较。仿真结果表明在低频厚积的情况下施加某些特定加载的洛伦兹力条件可以削弱某一模态甚至可以激发出良好的单一模态。就结果分析得知施加x轴同方向的力和施加y轴反方向的力可以认为是施加对称条件有利于激发单一的S0模态;反之认为是施加反对称条件有利于激发单一的A0模态,这减弱了后期的信号处理分析的困难程度,提高了检测的精确度。

Genetic associations of inflammatory bowel disease in a South Asian population

AIM To estimate prevalence and phenotypic associations of selected inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)-associated genetic variants among Sri Lankan patients. METHODS A case study of histologically confirmed ulcerative colitis(UC) or Crohn's disease(CD) patients with ≥ 1 year disease duration, who were compared to unrelated, gender-matched, healthy individuals as controls, was conducted at four major centers in Sri Lanka. Phenotypic data of the cases were obtained and all participants were genotyped for 16 selected genetic variants: IL12 B :rs1045431, IL23 R :rs11805303, ARPC2 :rs12612347, IRGM :rs13361189, IL26/IL22 :rs1558744, CDH1 :rs1728785, IL10 :rs3024505, FCGR2 A :rs3737240, PTGER4 :rs4613763, IL17 REL/PIM3 :rs5771069, HNF4 a :rs6017342, STAT3 :rs744166, SMURF1 :rs7809799, LAMB1 :rs886774, HLA-DRB5, DQA1, DRB1, DRA :rs9268853, MST1, UBA7, and APEH :rs9822268. The genotypes of all variants were in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium(P > 10^(-3)). To account for multiple hypothesis testing, P-values < 0.003 were considered significant.RESULTS A total of 415 patients and 465 controls were recruited. Out of the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) tested, the majority were not associated with IBD in Sri Lankans. Significant positive associations were noted between rs886774(LAMB1-gene) and UC(odds ratio(OR) = 1.42, P = 0.001). UC patients with rs886774 had mild disease(OR = 1.66, P < 0.001) and remained in remission(OR = 1.48, P < 0.001). A positive association was noted between rs10045431(IL 12 B gene) and upper gastrointestinal involvement in CD(OR = 4.76, P = 0.002). CONCLUSION This confirms the heterogeneity of allelic mutations in South Asians compared to Caucasians. Most SNPs and disease associations reported here have not been described in South Asians.

Simulations of Rayleigh’s Wave on Curved Surface

Impulsive line load in a half-space (Lamb’s problem) can be solved with a closed form solution. This solution is helpful for understanding the phenomenon of Rayleigh’s waves. In this article, we use a boundary element method to simulate the solution of an elastic solid with a curved free surface under impact loading. This problem is considered difficult for numerical methods. Lamb’s problem is calculated first to verify the method. Then the method is applied on the problems with different surface curvatures. The method simulates the phenomenon of Rayleigh’s wave propagating on a curved surface very well. The results are shown in figures.

基于超声导波技术研究了板状结构的损伤检测。理论分析了平板中Lamb波的传播特点;利用有限元耦合场模拟方法模拟了平板中Lamb波的传播及裂纹对Lamb波的影响;根据有限元模拟结果,分析了裂纹尺寸对Lamb波传播的影响;为检测损伤的位置,建立了单激发端多接收端的压电阵列;结合概率成像算法,建立了损伤分布场,该分布场的成像结果直观地反映了损伤的位置和严重程度。

论先秦优语与西汉散体赋的渊源

分体研究汉赋的起源问题,已成为学界的共识。散体赋在它的发展形成过程中,必然要吸收其他文体的某种因素。经过爬梳、分类研究先秦时期的优语事例,发现它们与散体赋的本质特征存在众多的一致性,从中可以看出先秦优语与散体赋存在着独特的承继关系。在从优语发展到散体赋成熟形式的过程中,屈原之赋是先导之风,而宋玉之赋和荀卿之赋起到了重要的桥梁作用,这使我们看到从优语发展到文人之赋的鲜明轨迹。
