With more than 30 years of development,laser-induced fluorescence(LIF)is becoming an increasingly common diagnostic to measure ion and neutral velocity distribution functions in different fields of studies in plasma science including Hall thrusters,linear devices,plasma processing,and basic plasma physical processes.In this paper,technical methods used in the LIF diagnostic,including modulation,collection optics,and wavelength calibration techniques are reviewed in detail.A few basic physical processes along with applications and future development associated with the LIF diagnostics are also reviewed. 展开更多

Argon ion laser induced fluorescence measurements were carried out in a multipolar filament discharge with a broadband diode laser centered on 668 nm, which stimulated a transition from the metastable state in Ar(Ⅲ) 3d4F7/2 to 4p4D0 5/2. The intensity of the induced fluorescence at 442 nm was maximized by the optimization of the discharge parameters and the laser power. From the recovery of the background fluorescence after the laser was turned off, the ion diffusion coefficient was deduced and compared with the result inferred from the experiments of ion acoustic wave (IAW) damping. 展开更多

cis-1,3,4,6-Tetranitrooctahydroimidazo-[4,5 d]imidazole(BCHMX)is an advanced energetic compound that expected to spread worldwide in the near future.Since,no approved remote detection methods were reported in current ... cis-1,3,4,6-Tetranitrooctahydroimidazo-[4,5 d]imidazole(BCHMX)is an advanced energetic compound that expected to spread worldwide in the near future.Since,no approved remote detection methods were reported in current literature for this material,we performed hyper-spectral imaging and laser induced fluorescence(LIF)to a BCHMX sample under low laser fluence for determining the optimum laser wavelength used in any future BCHMX-LIF based remote detection systems.For this purpose,an experimental setup consisted of a sun spectrum lamp and hyper-spectral camera was built to illuminate and image white powder samples of BCHMX in comparison with the traditional explosives,HMX(1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane),RDX(1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane),PETN(2,2-Bis[(nitroxy)methyl]propane-1,3-diyldinitrate).The imaging reveals strong BCHMX sample absorption contrast among other samples at wavelength ranging from 400 to 410 nm.When light source was replaced by a 405 nm laser diode illuminator,a strong BCHMX sample LIF at the spectral range from 425 to 700 nm was observed under low laser fluence condition of 0.1 mJ/cm^(2).Finally,we demonstrated successfully the ability of the 405 nm LIF and the hyperspectral imaging technique to detect finger print traces of BCHMX on white cellulose fabric from a distance of 15 m and a detection limit of 1 mg/cm^(2). 展开更多

A unique feature of the system was using a combination of a frequency tripled Nd:YAG pulse laser and an image intensified CCD camera as imaging detector. The delay time of the system and the exposure time of the CCD are controlled by a delay generator. Petroleum pollutants on various backgrounds had been detected and located by this system. This imaging technique provides a useful noninvasive approach for the detection of petroleum pollutants, which can be used in remote sensing. 展开更多

Proteomics is becoming more and more mature, but the detection of low abundance proteins is still a difficult task. Laser-induced fluorescence(LIF) detection is one of the most sensitive detection methods in a capillary electrophoresis(CE) system. However, most proteins do not exhibit favourable native fluorescence, a derivatization procedure is necessary for LIF detection of proteins. Since the derivatization reaction between protein and fluorescent reagent takes place after the separation of protein, the separation cannot be compromised by multiple derivatization products, the post-column derivatization becomes an attractive method for derivatization in CE-LIF system. 展开更多

The C^2Π-X^2Π(0,0)band of AgO has been reinvestigated by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy with a spectral resolution of ~0.02 cm^−1.The AgO molecules are produced by discharging a gas mixture of O2/Ar with silver needle electrodes in a supersonic jet expansion.By employing a home-made narrowband single longitude mode optical parametric oscillator(SLM-OPO)as the laser source,high-resolution spectra of the C^2Π-X^2Π(0,0)band have been recorded for both 107Ag16O and 109Ag16O isotopologues.The spectroscopic constants of the C^2Π state are consequently determined,with the 109Ag16O one being reported for the first time.The nature of the spin-orbit coupling effect in the C^2Π state is proposed to be due to state mixing with the nearby repulsive 4Σ− and 4Π states. 展开更多

针对超声速燃烧室火焰驻留时间短和高湍流度的特点,利用500 Hz高频OH-PLIF(planar laser induced fluorescence)技术,研究了氢燃料超声速燃烧室火焰结构,结合壁面压力,获得了点火、稳焰以及熄火过程的规律。结果表明:隔离段入口来流马... 针对超声速燃烧室火焰驻留时间短和高湍流度的特点,利用500 Hz高频OH-PLIF(planar laser induced fluorescence)技术,研究了氢燃料超声速燃烧室火焰结构,结合壁面压力,获得了点火、稳焰以及熄火过程的规律。结果表明:隔离段入口来流马赫数为2的情况下,氢气当量比0.1和0.3,在火花塞点火下,2 ms均能点燃并获得PLIF火焰图像,其中当量比为0.1凹槽内存在爆燃现象,火焰达到稳定燃烧状态较慢(约65 ms)。稳焰过程中,当量比为0.3燃烧相对不充分,燃烧区域更靠近下壁面,燃烧位置和火核位置变化较大。当量比为0.1和0.3,熄火时间均在6 ms内,其中当量比为0.1熄火时火焰是从凹腔中部传播到凹腔前缘位置熄灭并伴随有一个短暂火焰增强的过程,并且在传播至凹腔前缘时已接近熄灭,当量比为0.3在熄灭前则是慢慢变弱,最终在凹腔前缘至喷氢位置间熄灭。 展开更多

A new FAGE setup has recently been built at the University of Lille,France.It permits the quantification of OH and HO 2 in the atmosphere with a detection limit of 3×10 5 molecules/(cm 3 ·min) for OH and 1×10 6 molecules/(cm 3 ·min) for HO 2.Its coupling to a photolysis cell enables the measurement of the total reactivity of the hydroxyl radical in ambient air and kinetic studies in laboratory.Two configurations have been considered:one with the photolysis cell at 90° to the FAGE nozzle,the other on line with the FAGE nozzle.The two configurations have been tested and validated by measuring the well known rate constants of OH with CH 4,C 3 H 8 and CO.The advantages and drawbacks of each configuration have been evaluated.The "on line" configuration limits losses and permits measurements over a larger reactivity range but is affected by OH formation from the laser beam striking the FAGE nozzle,thus limiting the ability to carry out energy dependence studies which can,in contrast,be successfully performed in the 90° configuration. 展开更多

In this work,the effects of fuel temperatures and pressure drops on the flow field and spray characteristics of a pressure-swirl atomizer were discussed using the Particle Imaging Velocimetry(PIV),Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence(PLIF)and Laser Particle Size Analyzer(LPSA)methods.Then the air-blast atomizer was selected to study the interaction of initial atomization and flow field.The effect of fuel-air ratio on the air-blast atomizer were also considered,where the fuel-air ratio was varied by adjusting mass flow rate of the air and fuel respectively.The results show that the spray angle of the pressure-swirl atomizer increases first and changes a little after the pressure drop higher than 0.5 MPa.However,more fuel concentrate on the central region,which is mainly caused by the increase of the proportion of small droplets with lower centrifugal force.The fuel temperature can improve the spray angle only in lower pressure drop,and it has a little effect under higher pressure drops.In addition,the fuel pressure drop has an obvious influence on the fuel distribution and flow field near the nozzle exit compared with the downstream.For the air-blast atomizer,the spray angle increases compared with the pressure-swirl atomizer for the introduction of swirl air.Furthermore,the spray angle decreases with the air mass rate increasing,and it increases with the fuel mass rate increasing.The distribution of velocity and droplet near the nozzle exit is influenced by the air mass rate,and the fuel mass rate mainly affects the distribution in the downstream.The fuel accumulates in the annular area below the nozzle,and the distribution of it changes little with the development along the axial direction. 展开更多

Laboratory studies of HO2 uptake coefficients,γ(HO2),were conducted at room temperature using an aerosol flow tube coupled with a laser induced fluorescence(LIF) system.The measurement was conducted with atmospherically relevant HO2 concentrations(~1×10^9 molecule/cm^3) at 51% RH.The measured γ(HO2) onto aqueous(NH4)2 SO4 aerosol was 0.001±0.0007,which was consistent with the relatively low first-order loss rate of HO2 onto aqueous(NH4)2 SO4 aerosol.Theγ(HO2) was elevated with increase of Cu(Ⅱ) concentrations in aqueous(NH4)2 SO4 aerosol.The threshold of Cu(Ⅱ) concentration was10^-3 mol/L for the dramatic increase of γ(HO2).It was found that γ(HO2) reached 0.1 when Cu(Ⅱ)concentration in aerosol was larger than 10^-3 mol/L,suggesting that γ(HO2) is very sensitive to concentration of transition metal ions in aerosol. 展开更多
