Discussion on the application prospect of the transient electromagnetic method based on the dual launcher and mine advanced detection

The dual transmitter implements the equivalent anti-magnetic flux transient electromagnetic method, which can effectively reduce the scope of the transient electromagnetic detection blind area. However, this method is rarely reported in the detection of pipelines in urban geophysical exploration and the application of coal mines. Based on this, this paper realizes the equivalent anti-magnetic flux transient electromagnetic method based on the dual launcher. The suppression effect of this method on the blind area is analyzed by physical simulation. And the detection experiment of underground pipelines is carried out outdoors. The results show that the dual launcher can significantly reduce the turn-off time, thereby effectively reducing the impact of the blind area on the detection results, and the pipeline detection results verify the device’s effectiveness. Finally, based on the ground experimental results, the application prospect of mine advanced detection is discussed. Compared with other detection fields, the formation of blind areas is mainly caused by the equipment. If the dual launcher can be used to reduce the blind area, the accuracy of advanced detection can be improved more effectively. The above research results are of great significance for improving the detection accuracy of the underground transient electromagnetic method. 展开更多

Fluctuations in outer space's temperature would affect the spacecraft's regular operation.This paper aims to study the temperature influences of the aluminum honeycomb buffer in the tether-net launcher.Firstly,a buffer structure was designed to attenuate the pyroshock generated by the pyrotechnic device.Secondly,the mechanical properties of aluminum honeycomb at different temperatures were obtained through quasi-static compression experiments.Then,the internal ballistic responses of the launcher were gained by the closed bomb tests and the equivalent classical interior ballistic model.Finally,the recoil performance of the launcher with aluminum honeycomb buffer at different temperatures was studied.It is revealed that the aluminum honeycomb crushing force gradually decreases with the temperature increases.The peak pressure,burning rate coefficient and velocity increase while the peak time decreases with the temperature increase for the interior ballistics.For the launcher recoil responses,the average launch recoil decreases if the aluminum honeycomb doesn't enter the dense stage.The impact acceleration,projectile velocity and displacement increase as the temperature increase.The paper spotlights the temperature's influence on the recoil characteristics of the aluminum honeycomb buffer,which provides a new idea for buffering technology of pyrotechnic devices in a complex space environment. 展开更多

An improved method for analyzing the radiation characteristic of the quasi-optical launcher is presented. The launcher is decomposed into an open-ended waveguide and a helical cut according to the proposed method. The radiation from the open-ended waveguide is obtained by using the Stratton-Chu formulation. The helical cut's radiation is calculated based on its current distribution, gained by several iterative computations, which helps to improve the calculation accuracy since the diffraction effect introduced by the helical cut is considered during the calculation. The proposed method is used to study different launches, and the results are compared with the existing results. Good agreement is achieved between the results obtained from our proposed method and the reported results. The present results provide an alternative for analysis and synthesis of the optical-mode converter. 展开更多

The launcher of the 4.6 GHz lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) system for the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) consists of 24 antenna modules, each composed of an array of 3 (row) × 8 (column) waveguides. In order to verify the radio frequency (RF) design and the feasibility of the manufacturing process, a mock-up of the module has been fabricated and measured. The measured return losses of all three input waveguides are less than 25 dB at a frequency of 4.6 GHz. The transmission coefficients from the input waveguide to the output waveguides are 9.13 ± 0.2 dB and the insertion loss is 0.104 dB. These good results mean that the design method of the antenna module can be used for the new 4.6 GHz launcher on EAST. The detailed design of the multi-junction antenna module and its initial test result are described in this paper. 展开更多

In order to extend the rail life and improve the firing accuracy,the electromagnetic launcher's rail can be modeled as a beam on elastic foundation with simply supported beam with moving load.Euler beam theory is applied to build the mechanical model and the analytical solution of the equation subjected to harmonic magnetic pressure is derived in details,which has successfully avoided the errors caused by using the uniform pressure to approximately replace the variable force.Numerical analysis of the dynamic response on rail by using the MATLAB software shows that the peak values of maximal deflection and vibration velocity increase gradually as the exciting frequency increases.Taking the same speed of load into account,the dynamic response of rail is obviously smaller than that under constant force.Therefore the reliable theory basis is provided for the design and control of rail to promote the practical application of electromagnetic launcher. 展开更多

A new electron cyclotron resonance launcher system has been designed and installed on heating and current drive (ECRH/ECCD) the HL-2A tokamak to inject four beams and enable continuous millimeter-wave beam scanning independently in the toroidal and poloidal direc- tions for ECRH/ECCD experiments. The launcher is connected to four mm-wave lines capable of transmitting high power up to 3 MW with two 1 MW/140 GHz/3 s and two 0.5 MW/68 GHz/1 s beams. Based on ray tracing simulation using the TORAY-GA code, tile scanning range of wave beams is -15~~15~ in the toroidal direction and 0~~10~ in the poloidal one for 140 GHz beams, which could cover half of the cross section of plasmas and can satisfy the requirements of advanced physical experiments. The beam radii in the plasma is 17.1 mm and 20 mm for the two 140 GHz beams and 29.5 nnn for the two 68 GHz beams, respectively, allowing a very high localization of the absorbed power. The performance of the steering system was proven to be reliable and the linearity is perfect between the displacement of drive shaft and rotate angle of mirror. Addition- ally the injection performance of the wave beams was optinfized by simultaneously setting the injection angle and the polarization to realize desirable pure O- or X-mode injection. 展开更多

In the present work,rails and panels in a rectangular electromagnetic rail launcher were simulated as finite-length bi-layer elastic foundation beams. Mechanical equilibrium equations were established for these bi-layer beams under the electromagnetic and contact forces between armatures and rails. With the application of Generalized Krylov function,analytical expressions of rails( upper beam) and panels( lower beam) 'deformation and stress were generated. The analytical results agree well with ANSYS calculations even in the presence of electromagnetic and armature's forces,a strong indication of the reliability of the analytical approach. The current work lays the foundation for mechanical analyses of rectangular electromagnetic rail launchers,and offers help in future designs and calculations in marine,aerospace,and civil engineering. 展开更多

ECRH Launcher for Four-Beam Injection on HL-2A Tokamak

An Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) launcher for four-beam injection has been installed on the HL-2A tokamak and used in plasma heating experiments. By the launcher, four EC wave beams can be injected into the tokamak through a φ350 mm port, which are generated from 2 sets of 68 GHz/1 s and 2 sets of 68 GHz/1.5 s gyrotron tubes manufactured by GYCOM, with maximum output power of 500 kW for each. In this paper, the properties of the EC beam in the launcher and plasma are presented: at the centre of the cross section of the tokamak, the beam radius is 31.7 mm; thermal analysis of a 3D model indicates that the peak temperature increase would be only 30 o C at the mirror surface for a 500 kW/1 s pulse; ray-tracing calculation predicts satisfactory power deposition. In the plasma experiment, six beams including four beams from this launcher and two from another launcher have been injected simultaneously. Besides, obtaining ELM-y H-mode discharges, the ECRH system shows reliability and stability of the launcher functions. 展开更多

In addition, the sliding mode control can restrain the effects of parameter uncertainties and external disturbance. Fuze is the information processing and control unit of the ammunition, so the quality of the fuze becomes one of the most important aspects of ammunition detection. Since using recoil force is a common method to the arm fuze, its dynamic simulation test has always been the focus of the fuze test research. A new fuze recoil environmental simulation method is proposed based on the electromagnetic launcher. Then the trigger control characteristics of the fuze recoil simulation system and the influence of the trigger position on the recoil force are studied. The results of the study show that although the pulse width of the armature force curve can be changed by adjusting the trigger position, due to the limit of the range, there also exists the contradiction that the electromagnetic pulse width gets narrow with the increase of electromagnetic force peak. Thus, it cannot meet the requirements of the fuze launch recoil simulation. In order to make the recoil force close to the actual environment, the multi-stage trigger control characteristics are analyzed, and the influence of trigger position on recoil environmental force characteristics is studied. Then a fuze launch recoil environmental simulation platform is established and continuous electromagnetic force is achieved by using the trigger strategy. Finally, the experiment is performed to simulate the fuze launch recoil environment and show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed theoretical analysis. The major research work of this paper includes studying the composition and basic principle of the simulation system, establishing a launch model to analyze the single-stage and multi-stage coil fuze launch recoil characteristics, designing the test device to verify the correctness and validity of the research. This paper draws the conclusions that the feasibility of the fuze launch environmental simulation based on the electromagnetic launcher is verified, the trigger position has a great influence on force peak continuity, the problems of low maximum overload peak and short peak duration in the multi-stage coil fuze launch environmental simulation can be effectively solved through adjusting the trigger position, the system has creative and extensive application prospects. 展开更多

The research on a 30 mm electrothermal-chemical (ETC) gun including theoretical simulation and experimental results is presented in this paper. The predictions of the theoretical model which is composed of three parts (i.e., pulse forming network, plasma generator and interior ballistics) are in good agreement with the experiments. In addition, we have performed some liquid propellant and solid propellant experiments, respectively. Among the solid propellant experiments, we have investigated the ignition modes of propellant and high velocity launchers. As a result, the 25 : 75 mixture of octane and hydrogen peroxide has a better effect than other liquid propellants. When the propellants are ignited nearby the bottom of projectile in chamber by using an ullage tube connected with the plasma generator, the kinetic energy of projectile will increase, while the chamber pressure will decrease. With a total input electrical energy of 180 kJ, the exit velocity of projectile is up to 2.1 km/s or so. 展开更多
