Having the two largest nursing workforces across the globe, both China and the United States have implemented licensure examinations to standardize the qualifications of registered nurse.China established the National Nursing Licensure Examination(NNLE)in 1995.Like the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses(NCLEX-RN)in the United States, the NNLE has become an important link in the nurse registration process and contributed a lot in quality assurance and development of nursing profession. It may be necessary for the NNLE to learn from NCLEX-RN in several aspects, including increasing the frequency of exam, providing examinees with individualized services, and continuing reforming exam content and format.By better aligning the content and format of the examination with the current nursing paradigm and clinical requirements, nurses may enter the healthcare field better prepared to care for patients.Considering the magnitude of their nursing workforce, both China and the United States have great potential to serve as a role model for other developing countries as they look towards establishing national nursing education programs. As new policies around standardized nurse education in China take form,we urge that the NNLE be included alongside curricular reforms. As these reforms are implemented, continued research will be needed to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and licensure exam regulations upon nurse preparedness and quality of nursing care in China. 展开更多

Background:Examination anxiety is a concern for educational policymakers because of the impact it can have on the overall outcome of the performance of the candidates who partake in such examinations.Aim:The aim of this study is to determine the examination anxiety level of students of Nursing and Midwifery College,Agogo, and Presbyterian University College and to evaluate the factors affecting them.Materials and Methods:A total of 160 undergraduate nursing students comprising 80 degree and 80 diploma students were conveniently sampled for the study. The study was conducted in September 2019 using a descriptive cross-sectional design. The Westside Test Anxiety Scale was used to measure examination anxiety among the participants.A researcher-designed questionnaire in which participants responded to a three-point Likert scale was used to assess factors influencing examination anxiety. Results:The findings of the study showed that test anxiety was higher among the diploma candidates(M=3.60)than the degree candidates(M=2.95)and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.024).Demographic characteristics such as age(P=0.009),sex(P=0.003),study hours per day(P=0.001)were found to be significantly associated with test anxiety. The factors found to influence examination anxiety among students were volume of materials to study(P=0.044),level of preparation(P=0.005)perceived difficulty of the questions(P=0.033)and myth about examinations(P=0.000).The perceived importance of the examination(P=0.057)and schedule of the exams(P=0.68)did not influence examination anxiety. Conclusion:Candidates for the licensure examination organized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana should be assessed for test anxiety and offered the necessary psychological support where necessary. 展开更多

Abstract: The study aimed to assess the predictors of performance administered by the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) in the licensure examination of Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) for Academic Year 2007-2011. Specifically, this also aimed to answer the following questions: demographic profile of the maritime graduates, the college related factors, administrative related factors, the level of scholastic achievement of the graduates, and the performance of the graduates in the licensure examination. A total of one hundred seventy three (173) graduates of MAAP from Class 2007-2011 were utilized as the respondents for the study. The study found out that the results of pre board examination and scholastic achievement of the graduates had significant effect on the performance of the graduates in O.I.C Navigational Watch Licensure Examination. Other variables found out to have no significant effect on the result of the licensure examination of the graduates. Therefore, the null hypotheses that the demographic profile of the graduates, college related factors, and administrative related factors has no significant effect on scholastic the achievement of the students were accepted. However, the null hypothesis that scholastic achievement of the students has no significant effect on the performance in maritime licensure examination was rejected. The same way, the null hypothesis that the demographic profile of the graduates, college related factors and the administrative related factors has no significant effect on the performance in Officer in Charge--Navigational Watch licensure Examination were accepted. 展开更多

Nursing education in the United States began in the 1870s with hospital training schools modeled after the Nightingale plan. Presently there are three educational paths that students may take to become a registered nurse (RN). These are the baccalaureate degree (BS), the associate degree (AD) and the diploma. Accelerated nursing programs are also available for people who have a baccalaureate degree in another field. Nursing education and nursing practice in the United States is regulated by each of the 50 states. The focus of nursing education is the preparation of nurses who use critical thinking skills to provide comprehensive patient-centered care to a variety of clients. It is expected that nurses will function using evidence-based practice in a culturally competent, safe manner. Nursing schools must be approved by the state in which they exist. In addition to this, most nursing schools are also accredited, a voluntary process that is done by a non-governmental association. All graduates take the same licensing exam, a computer adaptive test that is from 75 to 265 items long educated graduates were first time test takers; 85.5% passed the exam. Trends in nursing education In 2008 almost 120,000 US include a focus on evidence based practice, an emphasis on safety and quality, patient education and management of chronic conditions, genetics and genomics and the use of simulation in nursing education 展开更多

BACKGROUND Compared to earlier, there has been an increase in the tattoo procedures for cosmetic purposes;and there has also been an increase in the tattoo procedures performed by non-medical personnel. In South Korea, only tattoos performed by a doctor are considered legal;however, there is still some debate over whether tattoo procedures performed by non-healthcare providers should be considered legal.CASE SUMMARY A 28-year-old woman visited our hospital with pain in both nipples and heat sensation over the last 4 d.She had a history of a nipple tattoo performed by an unlicensed person.Pinpoint bleeding was noted in both areolar areas, and the exudate mixed with pus and orange color ink was discharged.Oral medication and tulle with foam dressing were performed under the impression of cellulitis and allergic reaction. After 4 wk,nipples remained dark brown in color, resulting in a color mismatch between the nipple and orange-colored areola. The size of the areola was also found to be distinctly asymmetrical after healing. This complication may have been caused by the use of illegal ink or unsanitary procedures,or a problem may have occurred in the post-tattoo management stage.CONCLUSION Doctors use approved ink, aseptic procedure and appropriate postoperative care, and appropriate management can be performed in case of complications. 展开更多
