This implies that the data logger and monitoring system is good and can be used to monitor solar energy variables even at the comfort of our homes. We fitted a model to the generated data and found that the meteorological variables considered accounted for 99.88% of the power output in the rainy seasons while 0.12% of the variation was not explained due to other factors. Solar panels inclined at an angle of 5° (Tilt) and facing South Pole perform optimally.展开更多

In recent times, this evaluation technique has been adopted in ...Accurate laboratory measurements and analysis of electrical properties of core samples are a prerequisite step to the evaluation of oil and gas reserves. In recent times, this evaluation technique has been adopted in carbon dioxide sequestration projects for estimating and monitoring carbon dioxide (CO2) accumulation in saline aquifers. Several papers have reported laboratory success in the use of resistivity measurements to monitor the flow and also estimate the volume of CO2 plume in geological formations. Such laboratory experiments did not capture the effect of CO2 -brine-rock interaction (CBRI) on saturation estimation. The possibility of a change in value resistivity due to CO2/brine/rock interactions, and the possible effect on CO2 monitoring and estimation are of immediate interest here. Preliminary results of an ongoing research work showed that a much longer experiment time accommodates CO2-brine-rock interaction which ultimately lead to change in rock resistivity. We hereby present the electrical behavior of carbonates to CO2/ brine/rock interaction during prolonged CO2 sequestration and the effect on saturation estimation. This electrical behavior and its possible effect on CO2 monitoring and estimation are discussed.展开更多

Various tools and techniques have been applied in trying to curb this problem, however new attacks continue to plague the Internet. We discuss risks that affect web applications and explain how network-centric and host-centric techniques, as much as they are crucial in an enterprise, lack necessary depth to comprehensively analyze overall application security. The nature of web applications to span a number of servers introduces a new dimension of security requirement that calls for a holistic approach to protect the information asset regardless of its physical or logical separation of modules and tiers. We therefore classify security mechanisms as either infrastructure-centric or application-centric based on what asset is being secured. We then describe requirements for such application-centric security mechanisms.展开更多

A good understanding of the nature and type of network traffic is the key to solving congestion problems. In this paper we describe the architecture and implementation of a scalable network traffic moni-toring and analysis system. The gigabit interface on the monitoring system was configured to capture network traffic and the Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG) and Webalizer produces graphical and detailed traffic analysis. This system is in use at the Obafemi Awolowo University, IleIfe, Nigeria;we describe how this system can be replicated in another environment.展开更多
