The Influence of Social Media on College Choice among Undergraduates Majoring in Big Data Management and Application in China:Taking Guilin University of Electronic Technology as an Example

This study aims to investigate the influence of social media on college choice among undergraduates majoring in Big Data Management and Application in China.The study attempts to reveal how information on social media platforms such as Weibo,WeChat,and Zhihu influences the cognition and choice process of prospective students.By employing an online quantitative survey questionnaire,data were collected from the 2022 and 2023 classes of new students majoring in Big Data Management and Application at Guilin University of Electronic Technology.The aim was to evaluate the role of social media in their college choice process and understand the features and information that most attract prospective students.Social media has become a key factor influencing the college choice decision-making of undergraduates majoring in Big Data Management and Application in China.Students tend to obtain school information through social media platforms and use this information as an important reference in their decision-making process.Higher education institutions should strengthen their social media information dissemination,providing accurate,timely,and attractive information.It is also necessary to ensure effective management of social media platforms,maintain a positive reputation for the school on social media,and increase the interest and trust of prospective students.Simultaneously,educational decision-makers should consider incorporating social media analysis into their recruitment strategies to better attract new student enrollment.This study provides a new perspective for understanding higher education choice behavior in the digital age,particularly by revealing the importance of social media in the educational decision-making process.This has important practical and theoretical implications for higher education institutions,policymakers,and social media platform operators.

Exploration and Practice of Big Data Introductory Courses for Big Data Management and Application Majors

As an introductory course for the emerging major of big data management and application,“Introduction to Big Data”has not yet formed a curriculum standard and implementation plan that is widely accepted and used by everyone.To this end,we discuss some of our explorations and attempts in the construction and teaching process of big data courses for the major of big data management and application from the perspective of course planning,course implementation,and course summary.After interviews with students and feedback from questionnaires,students are highly satisfied with some of the teaching measures and programs currently adopted.

Development of Management and Application System of Basic Meteorological Data

Based on convenience and safety of historical data application, B/S mode is used instead of database management structure of C/S mode, and it can not only combine database and network, but also realize the safe use of historical data online. High-level programming language is used to develop a online management and application system of historical meteorological data based on B/S mode. System data import function can import ground report file sequence of Xuzhou （ including five county-level stations） into the database, construct Oracle database of Xuzhou and the five stations since 1953, and establish data tables of time, day, ten-day, monthly, quarterly and annual historical data, weather information and so forth. Management software of database server is established to realize instruction-level management and scheduling of database and a balanced distribution of resources among users. At the same time, a Web-based management application interface is set up to meet users＇ needs to retrieve a variety of repositories, and it provides statistical query of time, day, ten-day, monthly, quarterly and annual historical data and climate data for each meteorological element, thereby meeting the needs of meteorological research and all sectors of society for statistical query of meteorological data.

Solution and Application Development of the Supply Chain Management System in SINOPEC

SINOPEC is an integrated energy and chemical company engaging in upstream,midstream and downstream operations. The business of SINOPEC covers E&P of oil and gas, refining,chemical production, as well as sales and marketing of refined oil products. In the field of oil andnatural gas exploration and development, there are 13 upstream subsidiaries in SINOPEC. By the endof 2003, the proven reserves of crude oil were 3,257 mmbbls, and natural gas reserves totaled2,887.6 bcf. The oil and gas production in 2003 included 270.96 mmbbls of oil and 187.7 bcf ofnatural gas. In the area of middle-stream operation, SINOPEC has 33 refineries. The total capacityof crude distillation is 153.9 million tons/year, about 51% of the total distillation capacity inChina. In 2003, 123.5 million tons of crude oil was processed, around 53% of total crude processedin China.
