A Comparative Study of Hong Lou Meng and Moment in Peking

Hong Lou Meng and Moment in Peking are both well know noves home and abroad.Based on a comparative analysis,it can be found that these two noves have many similarities in the arrangement of structure,plot,chracterization,and language style.Through a detailed analysis of these two noves,this paper explored the smilarities and also discussed the factors for this phenominon.

Cultural Identity and Translator's Style: Case Study of Translation of Tea Relevant Acts in Hong Lou Meng

From the methodological perspective, the thesis summarized leisure tea act, judging-time tea act to map translator's style. Through investigations on all these, the thesis succeeded in confirming the translator's styles and pinpointing cultural identity as essential factors influencing their styles. Hopefully, this could help to provide a new angle of view to make research on translator's style. Moreover, the thesis wishes that with analysis of tea culture in Hong Lou Meng the translation of tea relevant acts receive greater priority in the Chinese Classics Translation.

基于Yan Meng风场模型的台风风场模拟及参数敏感性分析

采用Yan Meng等研发的台风风场模型,利用13个台风过程中13个浮标站、16个岛屿站的实测风速对YanMeng风场模型进行验证,并对模型中压力分布常数B、最大风速半径Rmax和等效粗糙高度z0三个参数进行敏感性试验。试验结果表明,模型中的这3个关键参数对风场模拟有显著影响。同时,以1808号超强台风"玛莉亚"为例,得到不同时刻的台风风场模拟结果,分析了利用Yan Meng风场模型模拟我国近海台风风场的可行性。

Difference of Translation Subjectivity fro Two English Translation Version of Hong Lou Meng

Hong Lou Meng is one of the four greatest classical novels of China. Since the appearance of the book, more and more people have been interested in it and have begun to study the book from different point of views. Then a new subject-redology, namely the study of the book- comes out. Hong Lou Meng, as representing the peak of the development in the tranditional chinese realistic novels, has been translated into many languages. Nowdays, there are only two versions of the translation that consists of the whole 120 chapters of the book: one is entitled A Dream of Red Mansions translated by Yang Hsien-yi and his wife Gladys Yang; the one with the title The Story of the Stone is translated by David Hawkes and John Minford.From the view of culture, the book Hong Lou Meng is a great collection of chinese traditional culture, and it reflects the tradition, the religion, the festivals, the tea culture, and the medicine culture and as well as the opera and poem s of chines people. But viewing the translation versions, different people have different translations to the same culture elements. This paper, beginning from this point, makes a first study about the translatiuon subjectivity sense, that leads to this translation differences.

Translating the Untranslatable—A Case Study of David Hawkes' Translation Work of Hong Lou Meng

Recognizing translatability instead of untranslatability is of significance, since a wide-spread recognition of untranslatability may daunt the efforts of translators. The paper approaches the question of untranslatability thorough categorizing untranslatability into different groups and then examining untranslatability in each group by analyzing some typical examples from David Hawkes' translation of Hong Lou Meng. Through the analysis of how David Hawkes translated the untranslatables, the paper argues that real untranslatability is rare, while translatability rules.

On the English Translations of “姐姐”(“jiejie”)and “妹妹”(“meimei”)Fictive Terms of Address in Honglou Meng

Based on a thorough case study of Yang's and Hawks' translations of the fictive kinship terms of address"姐姐/妹妹"in Honglou Meng, this paper analyzes the cultural and contextual connotations of the terms in the original, discusses comparatively the misinterpretations of the translations from target readers and explores the cultural orientations and translation strategies of the two versions, proposing that in translating these cultural-and-contextual-bound terms, translators should be bi-culturally conscious and take into account target readers' interpretation as well as make cultural compensations so as to bring out the exact people relations and retain contextual and cultural connotations.

A Comparative Study on David Hawkes and Xianyi/Gladys Yang's Translations of Chinese Common Sayings in Hong Lou Meng

Honglou Meng is an encyclopedia of Chinese language in which includes many different Chinese linguistic features, e.g. idioms, common sayings, poems etc. There are 109 Chinese common sayings in the first 80 chapters of the novel. Most Chinese common sayings contain figurative meanings and the images involved are usually vivid and culture-specific; therefore it is very difficult to translate them. It is found that David Hawkes is more creative and use more free translation while the Yangs use more literal translation. This supports Feng Qinghua's suggestion that the Yangs prefer to use literal translation while David Hawkes is inclined to use free translation.

Dilemma in English Translation of Euphemism in Honglou Meng

Honglou Mengis an invaluable asset of traditional Chinese literature.The translation of euphemisms differs greatly in two great English translation editions,from which we could see that difficulties and dilemmas exist everywhere in the translation of these euphemisms.In the thesis,similarities and differences of euphemisms in both Chinese and English are investigated,which lead to dilemmas existing in the process of translation in Honglou Meng.

With the rapid development of China,Chinese culture is becoming more and more popular. Numbers of foreign scholars or literary-lovers are trying to learn China and Chinese culture. But many improper translations caused unnecessary confusions. So how to convey our own culture to the world turns into a big problem. In this essay,five methods of culture translation is illustrated with the examples from two English versions of Hong Lou Meng,to show different ways of translation when meet different situations.

蒙开个地区河库连通工程的泵站运行方式研究

蒙开个地区河库连通工程包含南洞一级泵站、南洞二级泵站和长桥海泵站,研究水泵机组不同运行方式对各泵站运行能耗的影响有助于提升工程运行效益。构建了考虑定速节流运行方式和变频调节运行方式下3座泵站站内机组优化组合模型,运用标准遗传算法、精英保留遗传算法对模型进行求解,考虑变频调节装置成本,分析了改造方案的经济性。结果表明:精英保留遗传算法在求解精度上与标准遗传算法相差较小,但在求解效率上显著优于标准遗传算法,能够更好地求解蒙开个地区河库连通工程的泵站机组优化组合模型;变频调节运行方式的节能效果最为显著,各级泵站在流量范围中段存在高效节能段;当各级泵站大部分时间提水流量低于0.7 m^(3)/s或接近满带流量,无需变频改造;其他情况下改造后各级泵站能快速实现正向收益,经济效益较为明显。研究可为蒙开个地区河库连通工程的泵站节能改造提供参考。

《王蒙自传》与《活动变人形》中的“父亲”形象,构成了显著的互文现象。作为两种创作路向,自传和小说相互提供由文外看文内的参照性史料。《王蒙自传》为《活动变人形》“父亲”形象倪吾诚的虚构,提供了政治与心理动机的说明;以《王蒙自传》父亲王锦第为原型,在倪吾诚形象的生成中,见出作家艺术表达中重抒情想象的情感审美,重政治意义的逻辑起点和真诚勇敢的心理线索;受小说人物影响,王锦第与倪吾诚同构,因而在史实、史评、史思三个层面偏离了传记人物的全面性、客观性和思想性。由此可见,关注传记与其他文类编织的史料网络,可弥补文学史偏于虚构文学而致的结构性缺失,赋予文学研究以历史维度和思想质感。
