The results show that the mechanical properties and the microstructures of Al-7.5Si-4Cu cast alloys are improved immensely by combining addition of 0.8%Al-5Ti-B, 0.1%RE and 0.1%Al-10Sr grain refiners and modifiers compared with the individual addition and cast conditions. For individual addition condition, addition of 0.8%Al-5Ti-B master alloy can obtain superior tensile strength, Brinell hardness and finer equiaxedα(Al) dendrites. The alloy with 0.1%RE master alloy shows the highest improvement in ductility because the rare earth can purify the molten metal and change the shape of intermetallic compounds. While the alloy with 0.1%Al-10Sr modifier shows only good improvement in yield strength, and the improvement of other performance is unsatisfactory. The Al-10Sr modifier has a significant metamorphism for the eutectic silicon, but will make the gas content in the aluminum alloy melt increase to form serious columnar grain structures. The effects of grain refining and modification on mean area and aspect ratio have the same conclusions obtained in the mechanical properties and the microstructures analyses.展开更多

The experimental results reveal that there is a non-monotonic relationship among solution heating rate, mechanical properties, microstructure and texture. As the solution heating rate increases, the strength variations are dependent on the tensile direction;work hardening exponent n decreases first, and then increases;plastic strain ratio r increases first, and then decreases, and finally increases. The final microstructure and texture are also affected by heating rate. As heating rate increases, the microstructure transforms from elongated grain structure to equiaxed grain structure, and the average grain size decreases first, and then increases, and decreases finally. Although the texture components including CubeND{001}<310> and P{011}<122> orientations almost have no change with the increase of heating rate, the texture intensity and volume fraction decrease first, and then increase, and finally decrease. Both microstructure and texture evolutions are weakly affected by heating rate. Improving heating rate is not always favorable for the development of fine equiaxed grain structure, weak texture and high average r value, which may be related to the recrystallization behavior.展开更多

The experimental results indicate that, Ni and Cu play different roles in the process of sintering, theNi-Cu solid solution has the same function as Ni and Cu additives in the course of sintering Mo alloys, It shows moreactivating sintering feature for Mo than the Ni and Cu additives.
文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-14.6Si castings modified by Cu-P master alloy under different conditions were studied with optical microscope(OM) and mechanical testing and simulation(MTS).The results indicate that the Cu-P master alloy possesses not only obvious modification effect, but also longevity effect with more than 8 h on the hypereutectic Al-Si alloy. It is shown from thermal calculation, scanning electron microscope(SEM),and energy dispersive analysis of X-rays(EDAX) that the modification mechanism of Cu-P on primary silicon in the castings is heterogeneous nucleation around AlP particles. The Cu-P master alloy has no or little modifying effect on eutectic silicon, even though it has obvious modification on primary silicon in the castings. This may be because of the fast transformation of eutectic silicon at a very narrow temperature, which will notably weaken the role of AlP particles as heterogeneous nuclei for eutectic silicon.

文摘The relationship among heating rate, mechanical properties, microstructure and texture of Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy during solution treatment was investigated through tensile test, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer and EBSD technology. Improving heating rate is not always favorable for the development of fine equiaxed grain structure, weak texture and high average r value, which may be related to the recrystallization behavior.

文摘Ti-47Al-2Nb-2Cr-0.15B(mole fraction,%)alloy was vacuum brazed with amorphous and crystalline Ti.25Zr-12.5Cu-12.5Ni-3.0Co-2.0Mo(mass fraction,%)filler alloys, and the melting, spreading and gap filling behaviors of the amorphous and crystalline filler alloys as well as the joints brazed with them were investigated in details. Results showed that the amorphous filler alloy possessed narrower melting temperature interval, lower liquidus temperature and melting active energy compared with the crystalline filler alloy, and it also exhibited better brazeability on the surface of the Ti.47Al.2Nb.2Cr.0.15B alloy. The TiAl joints brazed with crystalline and amorphous filler alloys were composed of two interfacial reaction layers and a central brazed layer.Under the same conditions, the tensile strength of the joint brazed with the amorphous filler alloy was always higher than that with the crystalline filler alloy. The maxmium tensile strength of the joint brazed at 1273 K with the amorphous filler alloy reached 254 MPa.

文摘The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a T8-aged Al-Cu-Li alloy with increased pre-deformation(0-15%) were investigated, revealing the microstructure-strength relationship and the intrinsic strengthening mechanism. The results show that increasing the pre-deformation levels remarkably improves the strength of the alloy but deteriorates its ductility.Dislocations introduced by pre-deformation effectively suppress the formation of Guinier-Preston(GP) zones and provide more nucleation sites for T1 precipitates. This leads to more intensive and finer T1 precipitates in the samples with higher pre-deformation levels.Simultaneously, the enhanced precipitation of T1 precipitates and inhibited formation of GP zones cause the decreases in number and sizes of θ′ precipitates. The quantitative descriptions of the strength contributions from different strengthening mechanisms reveal that strengthening contributions from T1 and θ′ precipitates decrease with increasing pre-deformation.The reduced diameters of T1 precipitates are primarily responsible for their weakened strengthening effects. Therefore, the improved strength of the T8-aged Al-Cu-Li alloy is mainly attributed to the stronger strain hardening from the increased pre-deformation levels.
文摘A systematical study on the relationship between the amounts of different eutectic phases especially the low-melting-point(LMP)eutectics and the hot tearing susceptibility of ternary Al−Cu−Mg alloys during solidification was performed.By controlling the concentrations of major alloying elements(Cu,Mg),the amounts of LMP eutectics at the final stages of solidification were varied and the corresponding hot tearing susceptibility(HTS)was determined. The results showed that the Al−4.6Cu−0.4Mg(wt.%)alloy,which contained the smallest fraction of LMP eutectics among the investigated alloys, was observed to be the most susceptible to hot tearing. With the amount of total residual liquid being approximately the same in the alloys, the hot tearing resistance is considered to be closely related to the amounts of LMP eutectics.Specifically, the higher the amount of LMP eutectics was,the lower the HTS of the alloy was.Further, the potential mechanism of low HTS for alloys with high amounts of LMP eutectics among ternary Al−Cu−Mg alloys was discussed in terms of feeding ability and permeability as well as total viscosity evolution during solidification.

文摘The damage characteristics of different speed sections of Cu−Cr−Zr alloy rail after simulated launch were studied. The microstructure, morphologies and properties of samples were investigated by using XRD,XPS,EBSD,SEM,hardness test, electrochemical test and DSC techniques. It was found that deposition layers were formed on the surfaces of the simulated launch samples. The thickness and surface roughness of these deposition layers increased with increasing the heat effect, suggesting a launch speed dependent damage degree of the arc ablation. The hardness variation of samples is attributed to the effects of the deposition layer and deformation hardening. The surface deposition layer affects corrosion resistance and crystalline characteristics, leading to changes in subsequent service performances.Additionally, the surface texture and plastic deformation ability of the samples are related to the recrystallization degree and deformation grain amount.
