The Adaptation of Mobile Learning System Based on Business Rules

In the mobile learning system,it is important to adapt to mobile devices.Most of mobile learning systems are not quickly suitable for mobile devices.In order to provide adaptive mobile services,the approach for adaptation is proposed in this paper.Firstly,context of mobile devices and its influence on mobile learning system are analized and business rules based on these analysis are presented.Then,using the approach,the mobile learning system is constructed.The example implies this approach can adapt the mobile service to the mobile devices flexibly.

Surveying on English Mobile Learning Among University Students: Current State and Influencing Factors

Mobile learning integrates mobile technology with digital learning,offering flexible,personalized content and portable equipment.It enables access to rich content and enhances learning efficiency.Therefore,it has become mainstream to utilize mobile devices for English learning among university students’English learning.The current study aims to examine the current situation and influencing factors of university students’English mobile learning.98 university students in one university of Shanghai participated the study and the questionnaire was used to collect the data.The results indicated that most university students already have electronic devices to support mobile learning.Personal factors,environmental factors,digital literacy,and technological capabilities are the main factors affecting university students’English mobile learning.The current study has implications for learners,teachers,and software developers.Learners should adjust their learning motivation,play an active role,and fully utilize the mobile platform to obtain resources and improve learning efficiency.Teachers should incorporate the advantages of mobile teaching and promote categorized and tiered teaching.Software developers should add new functions on the basis of meeting the basic needs of learners and continuously innovate the mobile learning platform.

Task Offloading and Resource Allocation for Edge-Enabled Mobile Learning

Mobile learning has evolved into a new format of education based on communication and computer technology that is favored by an increasing number of learning users thanks to the development of wireless communication networks,mobile edge computing,artificial intelligence,and mobile devices.However,due to the constrained data processing capacity of mobile devices,efficient and effective interactive mobile learning is a challenge.Therefore,for mobile learning,we propose a"Cloud,Edge and End"fusion system architecture.Through task offloading and resource allocation for edge-enabled mobile learning to reduce the time and energy consumption of user equipment.Then,we present the proposed solutions that uses the minimum cost maximum flow(MCMF)algorithm to deal with the offloading problem and the deep Q network(DQN)algorithm to deal with the resource allocation problem respectively.Finally,the performance evaluation shows that the proposed offloading and resource allocation scheme can improve system performance,save energy,and satisfy the needs of learning users.

Mobile Learning： Taking Education to a New Level

Technological advances are taking a major role in every field of our life. Today, younger generation is more attached to technology, immerging it mostly for social purposes. Therefore, the importance of its existence cannot be ignored. For that, it is the time for every mentor to apply technology to education. Instructors from different majors need to realize that integrating technology into education is a powerful tool that helps them moderate their course, but never a replacement to their existence. This paper＇s interest is to deliver a personal experience to other instructors on how to correctly use technology for educational purposes. One way of clarifying this point is to shed light on a very common social application that is WhatsApp. It is a social application available on every smartphone that is usually used as a social medium among users from different generation. This paper used WhatsApp as an application that can associate technology with leaming and teachers＇ moderation and collaboration under one roof, and that is by applying Mobile learning. One main question to rise at this point is whether students are going to be collaborative or not with their teacher in applying technology into education. There will be an anticipated approach from this paper on both Mobile learning and WhatsApp, that is to reach an agreement that Mobile learning is essential and adds value to the educational material we have in hand. Great examples from my own data are going to be presented to encourage others to predict new ways that can be added to my effort and others as well. The result hoped for after this paper is to be able to answer any digital immigrants＇ questions and help them to be more confident with technology.

Research on Blended Teaching Model in College English Based on Mobile Learning App

Mobile learning is the general trend of the times and the inevitable choice for the reform and development of college English teaching.This article attempts to use blended learning theory,mobile learning theory,and instructional design theory as a guide.In many English mobile learning apps,Superstar Learning Link is used as an example to design an online and offline blended teaching mode.It proposes thinking expansion and interaction in pre-class stage.Consolidation of input and outputoriented process are during class and evaluation and sublimation are made after class.The essay is aimed to break the boundaries between traditional teaching and mobile learning,combining synchronous learning with personalized learning in order to improve comprehensive levels of English.

Review of China Mobile English Learning： Achievements and Shortcomings -Based on statistical analysis of literature for 10 years （2004-2014） in CNKI （China National Knowledge Infrastructure）

The CNKI includes 153 pieces of paper for 10-year period of 2004-2014 about mobile English learning. We conducted a statistical analysis of 10 years of research among mobile English learning achievements and shortcomings and summarized in order to provide advice and reference for study in the future.

Usability and Effectiveness of Mobile Learning Course Content Application as a Revision Tool

The use of mobile phone technologies in the education sector is getting more attention nowadays. This is due to the advancement of technologies equipped in majority of the mobile phones which makes the devices become more capable of supporting the learning and teaching activities. Mobile learning （m-learning） is a learning tool which can be run on mobile devices. It can be considered as an enhancement to the electronic learning （e-learning）. M-learning overcomes several limitations of e-learning especially in term of mobility. It provides more independent way of learning whereby learners can use the application to do the learning activities at anytime and any place. However, as with other learning and teaching applications, applications to be developed for mobile learning must also be developed based on certain learning theories and guidelines in order for them to be effective as well as usable. Therefore, in this paper, the development process of a mobile learning course content application called Mobile System Analysis and Design （MOSAD） as a revision tool will be shared and its testing＇s conduct and results will also be presented and discussed. MOSAD was developed with the content of a topic from the System Analysis and Design （SAD） course conducted at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS （UTP）. A heuristic test involving 5 experts in the area of Human Computer Interaction （HCI） were conducted after the first version of MOSAD was completed to strengthen its functionality and usability, followed by a Post Test Quasi Experimental Design which was conducted to 116 UTP second year students who took the SAD course to test the effectiveness and usability of MOSAD after it was revised. As a result from the post test, the students who had used MOSAD （66 out of the 116 students） as their revision tool for answering ten quiz questions obtained a mean score of 7.7576 as compared to 5.160 obtained by the other group of students （50 out of the 116 students） who used traditional methods of revision. Besides, usability test which tested on consistency, leamability, flexibility, minimal action and minimal memory load of MOSAD gave results above 3.5 for each metric based on the rating of 1 to 5. Thus, both results indicate that MOSAD is effective and usable as a revision tool for the higher education students.

Conducting the Task-based Approach With Context Aware Mobile Situated Learning on Learning English for College Students＇ Learning Performance

Learning English with specific purpose （ESP） initiatives domain knowledge and language ability with English learning to meet future job demands （Leroux ＆ Lafleur, 1995; Khan ＆ Khan, 2015）. In the information age, the innovative technologies of mobile devices make the dramatical changes in ways of teaching and learning （Atkinson, 2011; Bierstaker, Janvrin ＆ Lowe, 2014, Pittaway, 2012; Yang ＆ Che, 2015）. The focus of this study aims to examine ESP college students＇ English learning performance by using Context Aware Mobile Situated Learning （CAMSL） in Tourism and Hospitality Management field and other majors. The mixed research method is conducted for data collection and analysis. The quantitative data are collected by examining students＇ learning performance; the qualitative data are allowed to understand the students＇ perspective toward their role in using the CAMSL with Tourism related content. Eight-three students are randomly selected and divided into two groups： 42 students are assigned in the experimental group A （CAMSL）, and 41 students are assigned in control group. Two groups of students receive pretest and posttest to examine their English performance. Besides, twenty students from group A and B are selected for online survey. The survey is mailed directly to students＇ email account. Results represented by using CAMSL show the significant improvement on students＇ learning performance. In addition, the survey data indicate the benefits of using the CAMSL help students enhance their academic discourse, develop their learned knowledge to represent their profession, use English properly to speak themselves up, and provide the effectiveness of obtain domain knowledge in future workplace.

Feasibility Investigation and Development Exploration on Popularizing the Method of English Fragmented Mobile Learning of Undergraduates

This paper attempts to investigate the feasibility and learning effects of English fragmented learning via mobile devices.Questionnaires and interviews were employed to do the survey on 157 undergraduates from 24 universities in China.The research findings reveal that English fragmented learning via mobile devices has some positive effects on the improvement of learners’knowledge and learning ability.In addition,there have been a certain number of useful learning resources and platforms with diversified features.The study has the implications that fragmented mobile learning is feasible and can be popularized in English learning.

At present, domestic colleges and universities still lack the industrialization model and platform that apply theory to practice areas, and apply the new mobile cloud learning technology to the research and practice of innovation and entrepreneurship training.

Enhancement of students' learning with mobile devices: Taking librarian-faculty collaboration in SJTU as an example

Purpose： This paper presents an innovative program of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library which aims to help engineering students to make use of mobile devices to improve their learning efficiency. Design/methodology/approach： Information literacy training and course learning resources were integrated into students＇ learning process. Surveys on students＇ learning with the touch pads were conducted to help evaluate the program＇s effectiveness. Findings： Our practice showed that collaboration of library staff with faculty members is an effective way to integrate information literacy education and course-specific library resources into students＇ learning with mobile devices, which has greatly improved the efficiency of students＇ learning. Research limitations： First, our literacy training still focused on the use of mobile devices in information access, but not on how to evaluate and manage their information resources with mobile devices. Second, subject librarians need to shift their role from information service providers into information resource instructors while developing the partnership with faculty members and teaching assistants. Practical implications： This paper provides learning efficiency of university students with touch pads conveniently. a new insight into the way of how to enhance such new technical devices as smartphones and Originality/value： Our practice can be used as a valuable guide for libraries that plan to leverage mobile technologies to enhance students＇ learning efficiency.

An Analysis of English Majors' Mobile Micro Vocabulary Learning

Though numerous English learning researches have been done for English majors,there is not fairly enough analysis ofEnglish mobile micro learning especially in vocabulary.Based on the condition,the author tries to analyze the feasibility of Englishmajors’vocabulary learning via mobile devices based on mobile micro learning mode in the way of questionnaire survey.In theend,the result of the research proves that it could be feasible to adopt mobile micro learning mode in English majors’vocabularylearning.

AI-Based Culture Independent Pervasive M-Learning Prototype Using UI Plasticity Design

This paper explains the development of a culturally inclusive ubiquitous M-Learning platform(“Mobile Academy”)with an AI-based adaptive user interface.The rationale and need for this research and development are justified by the continuing widespread adoption of the Internet and Internet enabled devices,especially smartphones.The M-learning platform was designed from the onset for the global traveller.The characteristics and limitations of the application are also discussed.The Mobile Academy,proof of concept prototype,was created to facilitate teaching and learning on the move or in environments where the use of a desktop computer is inconvenient or simply impossible.The platform’s primary objective was cross-cultural usability through the use of a combination of AI and plasticity of user interface design techniques.The usability evaluation plan was comprehensive and the results obtained were studied in detail.This also included consideration of the results of the SVM(Support Vector Machine)classifiers’performance and cross-device evaluation.The AI-based adaptive interface prototype has been tested and evaluated to show its merits and capabilities in terms of its usability,inclusivity and effectiveness of the interface.From the results,it was concluded that such a culture independent application was also affordable.

Application of Smart-Phone Apps by Chinese College Students in Learning English

Currently,there is an increasing trend in the shift from the use of traditional technologies,such as a desktop computer towards the use of mobile technologies,such as a mobile phone.Therefore,students are nowadays well equipped for mobile learning.The aim of this review is to explore the use of mobile phones and/or smart phones and their apps for learning English as a foreign language,and highlight their benefits and limitations for their use in the learning of English as a foreign language.

Research on the Mixed Teaching Model in Colleges and Universities in the Context of"Internet+"

Under the tide of"Internet+education",the new means of information technology education is constantly used in education and teaching,and the traditional teaching models and teaching methods urgently need to be changed.There is no doubt about the integration of online teaching and offline teaching.On the basis of reviewing the research on the mixed teaching model at home and abroad,this paper puts forward the idea of constructing the mixed teaching model in colleges and universities in the context of"Internet+",and sets up the mixed teaching model in colleges and universities in the context of"Internet+".Through the detailed and concrete design of the operation process of the mixed teaching model,we can break the single shackles of online teaching and face-to-face teaching,and form an interactive and collaborative teaching ecosystem to realize the common development of online teaching and offline teaching.

Mobile Assisted Chinese Learning as a Foreign Language:An Overview of Publications between 2007 and 2019

This paper presents a critical overview of studies on mobile assisted language learning(MALL)in teaching Chinese as a foreign language(CFL)during the period 2007−2019.In the review,keyword and reference searches were conducted to identify and select empirical studies during the review period.Thematic and frequency analyses were employed on the data.This identified methodological trends and research outcomes in the reviewed studies.As shown in the results,most of the reviewed studies used qualitative methods to examine the effect of mobile CFL learning on formal learning in higher education settings.These studies document the positive impact that mobile technology has on CFL learning.Their attention is primarily on the use of mobile learning in Chinese vocabulary acquisition,language skill development and mobile seamless learning.Suggestions are provided for further research to support continuous mobile assisted CFL teaching and learning.

Beyond Parroting:Using English Fun Dubbing to Improve English Oral Performance

The present paper is a response to the current problematic situation of oral English teaching at the tertiary level in China and the increasing popularity of web-based mobile oral English learning in oral English classes.Our paper focuses on the use of mobile-phone-based educational software known as“English Fun Dubbing”(EFD)and its advantages in terms of teaching and learning phonetics and oral English in the college classroom.The starting point was a needs analysis which revealed the lack of practice regarding English speaking.In this study,an action research method was adopted,involving 40 second-year students,who employed“classroom teaching+English Fun Dubbing”model as the intervention.Extensive examples from this model were used to build up a picture of the blended learning processes at work.Several imitation tasks,a conversational activity and a speech-delivering task were designed and implemented.Direct observation and the results of the questionnaire survey provided the evidence of the improvement in the students’oral performance.It is our aim to develop the present project to incorporate oral proficiency.The main results of this action research were reflected in the adjustments in the pedagogical treatment,the changes in the role of the teacher and the student,and the shifts in the students’attitudes towards their learning process.

MLEA： A Solution for Users of Android in UTPVirtual

This paper describes a design of an educational platform for a mobile learning architecture, which is a state of the an topic in distance education. The product will allow users to interact in an efficient, flexible, and transparent fashion with a web-based education environment, in this case Module Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment （Moodle）, using Android mobile devices. In order to provide a strong and lasting architecture, the Service Oriented Architecture （SOA） methodology is used given that it allows easy software re-utilization as well as integration of heterogeneous services. The architecture is based on web services implemented with Representational State Transfer （REST）, as it has been demonstrated to be lighter and less consuming than other protocols, for devices with limited resources such as mobile devices. Web services provide the communication means between the server side and the client side of the architecture, whereas agents are used to deliver the services itself. The authors propose the development of an environment that facilitates the integration of various educational resources to support m-learning. An important aspect of the proposal is the offering of a tool to provide customized alerts for students and teachers, enabling them to remain updated about activities taking place in the courses.

Empirical Study of College Teachers’Attitude Toward Introducing Mobile Learning to Classroom Teaching

With the rapid development of information technology and high broad reach of internet,mobile learning is becoming increasingly popular.In this paper,a mobile-learning method is proposed to explore college teachers’attitude toward introducing mobile learning to classroom teaching.An experiment was implemented to investigate teachers’attitude and classroom teaching activities.The results show that they hold an affirmative attitude toward mobile learning,and different mobile learning platforms were applied into almost every step of their classroom teaching.Compared to traditional teaching method,mobile learning has prominent advantages,such as instant and interactive way of teaching,fast updating knowledge,simple and convenient assessment function,various teaching approaches and improvements on students’learner autonomy.When introducing mobile learning to classroom teaching,teachers’main concern falls on that students use mobile devices to do other things in the name of study and can’t balance their time spent on mobile learning.Finally,a suggestion is given that it is better for teachers to combine mobile learning with traditional teaching methods to achieve the best teaching effect.
