To address the common issues of wrinkling, tearing, and uneven wall thickness in the actual sheet metal stamp-ing process of the outer ring of needle roller bearings, this study analyzes critical technical indicators such asforming limits, thickness distribution, and principal strains in the forming process in detail.Three-dimensionalmodels of the concave and convex dies were constructed. The effects of different process parameters, includingstamping speed, edge pressure, sheet metal thickness, and friction coefficient,on the quality of the forming partswere investigated by varying these parameters.Subsequently, the orthogonal experimental method was used todetermine an optimal experimental group from multiple sets of experiments. It was found that under the processparameters of a stamping speed of 3000 mm/s,edge pressure of 2000 N,sheet metal thickness of 0.9 mm,andfriction coefficient of 0.125,the forming quality of the outer ring of the bearing is ideal. 展开更多

On the basis of the comprehensive analysis about the automatic generation of the injection mold parting surface, the parting surface design method which introduces knowledge and case-based reasoning (CBR) into the computer-aided design is described by combining with the actual characteristic in injection mold design, and the design process of case-based reasoning method is also given. A case library including the information of parting surface is built with the index of main shape features, The automatic design of the mold parting surface is realized combined with the forward-reasoning method and the similarity solution procedure. The rule knowledge library is also founded including the knowledge, principles and experiences for parting surface design. An example is used to show the validity of the method, and the quality and the efficiency of the mold design are improved. 展开更多

Quick material change is often encountered for the different colors or kinds of polymer in hot runner injecting molding process. Time costing and incompleteness of material change process often affects the quality and productivity of products. In the practical production, multi injection or white material as the transition material is often adopted for quick material change. Based on the rheological behavior of the new and the previous plastic melt, the researches on the related problems were carried out. The concept of drag material change was originally presented. The physical and mathematical model on the simultaneous flow process of the new and the previous plastic melt in hot runner were built up, which can well explain the influence of the injection speed, pressure, viscosity difference, temperature and mold structure on the drag material change efficiency. When temperature in different position in the mold was increased and adjusted, the viscosity difference between the two kinds of melt can be controlled. Therefore the material change ability can be greatly improved during the whole material change process, getting rid of more and more difficult changing in the late stage. 展开更多

Iterative methods based on finite element simulation are effective approaches to design mold shape to compensate springback in sheet metal forming. However, convergence rate of iterative methods is difficult to improve greatly. To increase the springback compensate speed of designing age forming mold, process of calculating springback for a certain mold with finite element method is analyzed. Springback compensation is abstracted as finding a solution for a set of nonlinear functions and a springback compensation algorithm is presented on the basis of quasi Newton method. The accuracy of algorithm is verified by developing an ABAQUS secondary development program with MATLAB. Three rectangular integrated panels of dimensions 710 mmx750 mm integrated panels with intersected ribs of 10 mm are selected to perform case studies. The algorithm is used to compute mold contours for the panels with cylinder, sphere and saddle contours respectively and it takes 57%, 22% and 33% iterations as compared to that of displacement adjustment (DA) method. At the end of iterations, maximum deviations on the three panels are 0.618 4 mm, 0.624 1 mm and 0.342 0 mm that are smaller than the deviations determined by DA method (0.740 8 mm, 0.740 8 mm and 0.713 7 mm respectively). In following experimental verification, mold contour for another integrated panel with 400 ram^380 mm size is designed by the algorithm. Then the panel is age formed in an autoclave and measured by a three dimensional digital measurement devise. Deviation between measuring results and the panel's design contour is less than 1 mm. Finally, the iterations with different mesh sizes (40 mm, 35 mm, 30 mm, 25 mm, 20 mm) in finite element models are compared and found no considerable difference. Another possible compensation method, Broyden-Fletcher-Shanmo method, is also presented based on the solving nonlinear fimctions idea. The Broyden-Fletcher-Shanmo method is employed to compute mold contour for the second panel. It only takes 50% iterations compared to that of DA. The proposed method can serve a faster mold contour compensation method for sheet metal forming. 展开更多

In the present work, inverse thermal analysis of heat conduction is carried out to estimate the in-plane thermal conductivity of composites. Numerical simulations were performed to determine the optimal configuration of the heating system to ensure a unidirectional heat transfer in the composite sample. Composite plates made of unsaturated polyester resin and unidirectional glass fibers were fabricated by injection to validate the methodology. A heating and cooling cycle is applied at the bottom and top surfaces of the sample. The thermal conductivity can be deduced from transient temperature measurements given by thermocouples positioned at three chosen locations along the fibers direction. The inverse analysis algorithm is initiated by solving the direct problem defined by the one-dimensional transient heat conduction equation using a first estimate of thermal conductivity. The integral in time of the square distance between the measured and predicted values is the criterion minimized in the inverse analysis algorithm. Finally, the evolution of the in-plane composite thermal conductivity can be deduced from the experimental results by the rule of mixture. 展开更多
