The results show that every 1% increase in China's urban reg...This paper calculates the potential GDP growth rates and the natural rates of unemployment in China using the dual decomposition of the simple Okun's law. The results show that every 1% increase in China's urban registered unemployment rate leads to a 1.98% drop of GDP, the potential growth rate of GDP of China is about 10%, and the average natural rate of unemployment is about 3.2% in China in the past three decades. The paper finds that Olcun's law is still valid in China in the long run, but the Okun coefficient is about -3.79, overestimating the impact of the registered unemployment rate on GDP growth, and needs to be corrected based on China's dual economic structure.展开更多

Fol- lowing...The paper focuses on the optimal control of natural resources in mining industry. The purpose is to pro- pose an optimal extraction series of these resources during the lifetime of the Mine's maintenance. Fol- lowing the proposed optimal control model, a sensitivity analysis has been performed that includes the interest rate impact on the optimal solution. This study shows that the increasing of the interest rate sti- mulates faster extraction of the resources. The discounting factor induces that the resource has to be extracted faster hut this effect is counterbalanced by the diminishing returns of the annual cash flow. At higher parameters of "alpha" close to one of the power function about 80% from the whole resource will be extracted during the first 4 years of object/mine maintenance. An existence of unique positive root with respect to return of investment has been proposed and proved by two ways: by the "method of chords" and by using specialized software.展开更多
Two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, is one of the important pests of bean, which can cause severe damages on it. Silicon is one of the micronutrient elements, as its spray on the leaves can decrease the...Two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, is one of the important pests of bean, which can cause severe damages on it. Silicon is one of the micronutrient elements, as its spray on the leaves can decrease the population of the pest. In this research, the impact of four different doses of Si (0, 1, 1/5, 2 ppm) was investigated on biological and population growth parameters of T. urticae. The experiments were carried out in Petri dishes in an incubator at 25°C ± 2°C, 65% ± 5% RH and 16 L: 8 D. The duration of developmental stage was significantly affected by Si dose. The longest immature period, the shortest longevity of females and the shortest oviposition period were obtained at 2 ppm. In addition, Si dose significantly affected population growth parameters of the mite. The intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm) of the mite ranged from 0.246 to 0.215 day which lowest and the highest values were at 2 ppm and control plants, respectively. The lowest net reproductive rate (R0) and finite rate of increase (λ) of the mite and the highest value of mean generation time (T) and doubling time (DT) were estimated at 2 ppm. The results of this peruse represented that 2 ppm had better potential for decreasing the population of the two-spotted spider mite, and it can be used in the mite integrated pest management programs.展开更多
The coastline,as the boundary between land and sea,is shaped by both natural factors and human activities.Based on concrete practice from coastline survey in Shandong Province,this study discusses the applicability of...The coastline,as the boundary between land and sea,is shaped by both natural factors and human activities.Based on concrete practice from coastline survey in Shandong Province,this study discusses the applicability of the local standard Specification for Coastline Survey(DB 37/T 3588-2019).The coastline classification system takes into account the coastline characteristics and marine management requirements in Shandong Province.To be specific,the coastline with natural beach morphology and ecological function is involved,and its delimitation method is innovated.The coastline delimitation of sandy beach,aquaculture pond and salt pan follows the trace line of the mean high water springs(MHWS),but the coastline location of sandy beach can also be at the base of cliffs or at the foot of seawalls and roads considering the dynamic changes of the beach in different seasons and the integrity of the beach topography.The delineation of estuarial coastline is to achieve the complete coastline,and should not be used for the statistics of natural coastline retention rate.At present,the review of survey results has been completed.With the promulgation of survey results next,the formulation of relevant mechanisms and policies should promptly be put on the agenda,including regular investigation and data updating,natural coastline assessment,natural coastline requisition-compensation,and coastline protection planning.展开更多
The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO) is an experiment proposed to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and probe the fundamental properties of neutrino oscillation.The JUNO central detector is a sphe...The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO) is an experiment proposed to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and probe the fundamental properties of neutrino oscillation.The JUNO central detector is a spherical liquid scintillator detector with 20 kton fiducial mass.It is required to achieve a 3%/√E(MeV) energy resolution with very low radioactive background,which is a big challenge to the detector design.In order to ensure the detector performance can meet the physics requirements,reliable detector simulation is necessary to provide useful information for the detector design.A simulation study of natural radioactivity backgrounds in the JUNO central detector has been performed to guide the detector design and set requirements for the radio-purity of the detector materials.The accidental background induced by natural radioactivity in the JUNO central detector is 1.1/day.The result is satisfied for the experiment.展开更多
China is switching from economic growth based on extremely rapid capital accumulation to economic growth based on structural reforms and accelerated total factor productivity growth. Meanwhile, China will also face a ...China is switching from economic growth based on extremely rapid capital accumulation to economic growth based on structural reforms and accelerated total factor productivity growth. Meanwhile, China will also face a serious excess saving problem as capital accumulation slows and, hence, needs to reduce its private saving rate. Based on this analysis, we estimated the economic impact of China's growth slowdown and hypothetical economic transformation on Japan, the USA and Germany using the worm input-output database. We compared the following three scenarios for China's final demand in 2020 and economic growth from 2015 to 2020: (i) an optimistic scenario (GDP growth rate = 6.2%, investment/GDP = 0.501); (ii) a slowdown scenario (GDP growth rate = 4%, investment/GDP = 0.501); and (iii) a structural reform scenario (GDP growth rate = 6.2%, investment/GDP = 0.3). Our analysis suggests that Japan and Germany would suffer more from structural reforms in China than from a slowdown in growth. Meanwhile, for the USA, the employment decline triggered by structural reforms wouM be much smaller than the employment decline caused by a slowdown in growth.展开更多

In this paper, the suspended droplets' evaporation character was measured in a quiescent high-temperature environment by micro high-speed camera system. The gasoline and kerosene experimental results are consistent with the reference data. Methanol, common kerosene and aviation kerosene droplet evaporation characteristics, as well as their evaporation rate changing with temperature, were obtained. The evaporation rate experimental data were compared with the prediction result of Ranz-Marshall boiling temperature model(RMB), Ranz-Marshall low-temperature model(RML), drift flux model(DFM), mass analogy model(MAM), and stagnant film model(SFM). The disparity between the experimental data and the model prediction results was mainly caused by the neglect of the natural convection effect, which was never introduced into the droplet evaporation concept. A new droplet evaporation model with consideration of natural convection buoyancy force effect was proposed in this paper. Under the experimental conditions in this paper, the calculation results of the new droplet evaporation model were agreed with the experimental data for kerosene, methanol and other fuels, with less than 20% relative deviations. The relative deviations between the new evaporation model predictions for kerosene and the experimental data from the references were within 10%.展开更多
In Northwest China,potatoes are cultivated on double-rows of each ridge which is mulched with plastic film,and the film is covered with some of soil.While effective in retaining soil moisture,this technique can render...In Northwest China,potatoes are cultivated on double-rows of each ridge which is mulched with plastic film,and the film is covered with some of soil.While effective in retaining soil moisture,this technique can render the potato seedlings prone to be burned if they are not released from the plastic film in time.In this study,the model of convective heat transfer of potato ridge under solar radiation and atmospheric radiation is established by the Fluent software.The processes of the heat transfer of potato ridge was simulated for a certain day,and the temperature distribution in the potato ridge was monitored over time.The temperature distribution of soil in the growth layer of potato plants was analyzed under different thickness and widths of the covering soil on the film.The results showed that with the increase of covering soil thickness and width,the time for soil at different depth to reach the peak-temperature was delayed,and the daily temperature change of soil where the different depths layer of potato plants growth was reduced.At that time,a binary regression equation of offset temperature was constructed by using the Response Surface Method.The best parameter combination for covering soil on the plastic film is a thickness of 50 mm and a width of 280 mm in the cold and arid areas of Northwest China.However,the offset temperature(PT)first decreased and then almost remained unchanged with the increase of covering soil thickness.Considering the operational efficiency and power consumption of soil covering devices in the field,the unchanged width of the covering soil is 200 mm.The field experiments have shown that a 50 mm thick of soil covering is beneficial for the growth of potato plants and a 200 mm width of soil covering is beneficial for the growth of potato plants.The height of potato plants was 21 cm,and the natural emergence rate of potatoes was 95.8%on June 9,2024.The environment of soil covered could provide theoretical support for the mechanized planting of potatoes.展开更多
