Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture at facial acupoints combined with electrical stimulation on the auricular vagus nerve points for treatment of chloasma. Methods: Sixty patients with chloasma were selected. According to acupoint selection along facial nerve trunk initially created by professor Gao Wei-bin, Yifeng(翳风TE 17), Shangguan(上关GB 3) Sizhukong(丝竹空 TE 23),temporal branches, Xiaguan(下关 ST 7) Sibai(四白 ST 2),zygomatic branches, Qianzheng(牵正)Quanliao(颧髎 SI 18),zygomatic branches, Jiache(颊车 ST 6) Chengjiang(承浆 CV 24),buccal branches, and Hegu(合谷 LI 4). The auricular vagus nerve acupoints was added additionally(two distribution points in each cavity of auricular concha were selected). Electroacupuncture was conducted for30 min/time, once a day, and 6 times/week. One day was free from treatment between 2 weeks. Treatment for 4 weeks was 1 course of treatment, and the effect was observed after 1 course. Results: Cured: 39 cases, markedly effective: 13 cases, effective: 6 cases, ineffective: 3 cases. The cure rate was 65%, and the total effective rate was up to 95.0%.Conclusion: The curative effect of electroacupuncture at facial acupoints combined with electrical stimulation on the auricular vagus nerve points for treatment of chloasma was satisfactory. 展开更多

Tuina is a traditional Chinese treatment for sensory disturbances caused by peripheral nerve injury and related diseases. Our previous studies showed that tuina regulates relevant regions and indices of the spinal dorsal horn using the Dian, Bo, and Rou method in Yinmen(BL37), Yanglingquan(GB34), and Weizhong(BL40). Treatment prevents muscle atrophy, protects spinal cord neurons, and promotes sciatic nerve repair. The mechanisms of action of tuina for treating peripheral nerve injury remain poorly understood. This study established rat models of sciatic nerve injury using the crushing method. Rats received Chinese tuina in accordance with the principle of "Three Methods and Three Points," once daily for 20 days. Tuina intervention reduced paw withdrawal latency and improved wet weight of the gastrocnemius muscle, as well as promoting morphological recovery of sciatic nerve fibers, Schwann cells, and axons. The protein expression levels of phospho-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1β also decreased. These findings indicate that "Three Methods and Three Points" promoted morphological recovery and improved behavior of rats with peripheral nerve injury. 展开更多

To explore lower rotating potint nutrient vessels of sural nerve flap with distant pedicled repairing the soft tissue defect of foot and ankle. Methods Lay a foundation of anatomic studying from february 2003 to March 2004,using lower rotating point nutrient vessels of sural nerve flap with distant pedicled repairing the soft tissue defect of foot and ankle in 11 cases.Cause of injuring:traffic accident 7 cases, crushing 1 case, saw injury 1 case, skin cancer 1 case, chronic ulcer 1 case.Areas:foot heel 6 cases, shank lower section 2 cases, heel tendon 2 cases, the distant back of the foot 1 case.Using the flap axis point was 1~3 cm above the pin of the external heel, average 2 cm.The scope of the flap was 6.0 cm×8.0 cm~12.0 cm~18.0 cm.Results All sural nerve flaps were alive.Of them,2 cases have distant part necrosis, accompanying with subcutaneous tissue,1 case heels after change dressings, another heels after skin grafting. All case can walk as usual, the flap was wear-resisting and keenly feel. Conclusion Lower rotating point nutrient vessels of sural nerve flap, donner area was fine, available area was large, skin in the pink, easy grafting, without main blood vessel damage, survival rate high,it is a good donner area in repairing around heel, foot and shank lower section.7 refs,1 tab. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To examine whether transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation at acupoints(Acu-TENS)improved the biochemical and physical indices of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS:Ninety subjects with T2DM were divided randomly into a control group(n = 30),aerobic exercise group(n- 30),or Acu-TENS group(n = 30).In addition to conventional diabetes drug treatment, patients in the Acu-TENS group received acupoint stimulation, the aerobic exercise group engaged in walking exercises, and the control group was given sham electrical stimulation. All groups were treated for 30 min for each session and five times a week for 2 months. The indices of glycosylated hemoglobin,2 h postprandial glucose, fasting serum insulin, triglyceride, total cholesterol, and body mass index were assessed at pre-treatment,post-treatment,and follow-up,which was 2 months after treatment.RESULTS:The indices of the control group were not changed(P > 0.05) at the three time points. At the pre-treatment measurement, there were significant differences(P > 0.05) in indices among the three groups. At post-treatment,each index of the two groups was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05),and improved in comparison with the pre-treatment measurement(P < 0.05).In follow-up,each index of the aerobic exercise group and Acu-TENS group increased, but was still decreased compared with the pre-treatment value(P < 0.05),excluding body mass index.CONCLUSION:Acu-TENS could improve the state of patients with T2 DM and be used as a therapy in clinical application. 展开更多
