The square-root variant essentially propagates the square roots of the covariance matrices and can consistently improve the numerical stability because all the resulting covariance matrices are guaranteed to stay positive semi-definite. Furthermore, the square-root form ensures reliable implementation in an embedded system with fixed or limited precision although it is algebraically equivalent to the standard form. The new smoothing algorithm is tested in a challenging two-dimensional maneuvering target tracking problem with unknown and time-varying turn rate, and its performance is compared with that of other de-facto standard filters and smoothers. The simulation results indicate that the proposed RTS smoother markedly outperforms the associated filters and gives slightly smaller error than an unscented-based RTS smoother.展开更多

In this paper, an adaptive divided difference filter is designed for precise estimation of states and parameters of micromechanical gyro navigation system. Based on the investigation of nonlinear divided difference filter the adaptive divided difference filter(ADDF) was designed, which takes account of the incorrect time-varying noise statistics of dynamical systems and compensation of the nonlinearity effects neglected by linearization. And its performance is superior to that of DDF and extended Kalman filter(EKF). Simulation results indicate that the advantages of the proposed nonlinear filters make them attractive alternatives to the extended Kalman filter.展开更多

In particular for MHD flows, magnetic field and electrical conductivity are the control parameters. In this work, the results from our efficient high order accurate scheme are compared with the results of second order method and significant discrepancies are noted in separation length, drag coefficient and mean Nusselt number. The governing Navier-Stokes equation is fully nonlinear due to its coupling with Maxwell’s equations. The momentum equation has several highly nonlinear body-force terms due to full-MHD model in cylindrical polar system. Our high accuracy results predict that a relatively lower magnetic field is sufficient to achieve full suppression of boundary layer and this is a favorable result for practical applications. The present computational scheme predicts that a drag-coefficient minimum can be achieved when β=0.4 which is much lower when compared to the value β=1 as given by second order method. For a special value of β=0.65, it is found that the heat transfer rate is independent of electrical conductivity of the fluid. From the numerical values of physical quantities, we establish that the order of accuracy of the computed numerical results is fourth order accurate by using the method of divided differences.展开更多

This network employs a novel power divider and anti-phase balun as a building block. An equivalent 180o coupler with a bandwidth of 6.2~14GHz is achieved by back-connecting the power divider and balun together. Four such couplers are connected to form an ultra-broadband sum-and-difference network which has a bandwidth of 91%. This network, with insertion loss less than 1.8dB in sum port and nulls less than -20dB in all delta ports, is verified to be excellent, resulting in the advantages of being compact, easy manufacturing and low cost.展开更多
