The tribological performances of the composite coatings under dry condition were investigated in comparison with 45 steel and conventional Ni-P coating, Micrographs show that short MWNTs with uniform length and open tips were obtained through the wet-milling process. The results of wear test reveal that the Ni-P-MWNTs composite coatings posses much better friction reduction and anti-wear performances when compared with 45 steel and Ni-P coating. Within the MWNTs content range of 0.74%-1.97%, the friction coefficient and the volume wear rate of the composite coatings decrease gradually and reach the minimum values of 0.08 and 6.22x10-15 m3/(N.m), respectively. The excellent tribological performances of the composite coatings can be attributed to the introduction of MWNTs, which play both roles of reinforcements and solid lubricant during the wear process.展开更多

Morphology, chemical content and crystal microstructure were characterized by environmental scanning electron microscopy (E-SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), XRD diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experimental results show that Ni-P coating reinforced with 15g/L nano-CeO2, in amorphous state and with compact structure, can be improved in the microhardness from HV0.2580 to HV0.2780 by annealing at 600 °C for 2 h. The highest content of codeposited Ce and deposition rate can reach 2.3% and 68 μm/h, respectively. Furthermore, the effect of RE adsorption and pulse overpotential on depositional mechanism was investigated. n-CeO2 particles or Ce4+ ions with strong adsorption capacity acted as the catalytic nucleus to improve densification effectively. Microhardness and wear behaviour of the coatings before and after laser crystallization were evaluated by measurements of hardnesses of coating surface and cross-section, and by unlubricated friction and wear experiments. After heat treatment at 400 ℃ for 1 h, the structure of such Ni-P coatings were transformed to a structure with Ni-Ni3P double phases, and cracks in these coatings could not be observed, whereas cracks appeared seriously in the conventional electroless plated Ni-P coating after same heat treatment. Therefore, both hardness and corrosion resistance of these Ni-P coatings can be improved further by heat treatment. Compared with conventional two-layered TBCs, the GTBCs exhibite better resistance to not only oxidation but also hot-corrosion. A dense Al2O3 layer in the GTBCs effectively prohibites inward diffusion of O and S and outward diffusion of Al and Cr during the tests. On the other hand, an "inlaid" interface, resulting from oxidation of the Al along the columnar grains of the bond coat, enhances the adherence of AI2O3 layer. Failure of the GTBC finally occurred by cracking at the interface between the bond coat and AI2O3 layer, due to the combined effect of sulfidation of the bond coat and thermal cvcling.展开更多

By applying a new process flow of electroless nickel plating in which zinc coating is used as transition of Ni-P coating on Mg alloy AZ91D, the process of copper transition coating plated in the cyanides bath can be replaced. A new bath composed of NiSO4 was established by orthogonal test. The results show that zinc transition coating can increase the adhesion and protect the Mg alloy substrate from the bath corrosion. The optimal plating bath composition is NiSO4·6H2O 20 g/L, NaH2PO2·H2O20g/L and C6H8O7·H2O 2.5 g/L, and optimal bath acidity and optimal plating temperature are pH 4.0 and 95℃, respectively. The present process flow is composed of ultrasonic cleaning→alkaline cleaning→acid pickling→activation→double immersing zinc→electroplating zinc→electroless nickel plating→passivation treatment. The present non-cyanide process of electroless nickel plating is harmless to our surroundings and Ni-P coating on Mg alloy AZ91D produced by present process possesses good adhesion and corrosion resistance.展开更多

In the present study, spherical WC-Co erodent particles were used in single particle impact testing of Ni-P-nano-NiTi composite coatings on API X100 steel substrates at two average velocities—35 m/s and 52 m/s. Erosion tests were performed at impact angles of 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°. The effect of NiTi concentration in the coating was also examined. Through examination of the impact craters and material response at various impact conditions, it was found that the presence of superelastic NiTi in the brittle Ni-P matrix hindered the propagation of cracks and provided a barrier to crack growth. The following toughening mechanisms were identified: crack bridging and deflection, micro-cracking, and transformation toughening.展开更多

The influence of the realistic situation including load and temperature on the residual stress of the coatings is investigated. Simulated results show that the realistic situation strongly affects the residual stress. To be specific,i) The main residual stress concentrates on the coatings prepared on YG8 substrate, and the residual stress and its gradient of the coatings are bigger than that of the substrate; ii) TiAlN and TiCN coatings have better resistance compression than that of TiN coatings in the same condition; iii) The improved multilayer structure of the gradient hard coatings produces weaker residual stress but higher anti-pressure of the substrate.展开更多

Taking the TiC modified layer as an example, through thermodynamic calculation and experiment, the thermal decomposition process of raw materials(Ti/K_(2)TiF_(6)) was analyzed, the formation mechanism of TiC was determined, and the distribution of TiC modified layer was modulated. The results show that activator K_(2)TiF_(6)has higher decomposition temperature than NH4Cl, which is conducive to improving the utilization rate of raw materials in the gas infiltration process. Increasing the content of Ti powder can increase the concentration of reaction gas and contribute to the formation of TiC modified layer. When the molar ratio of Ti to K_(2)TiF_(6)is 3:1, the surface thickness and infiltration depth of Ti C are 5.42 and 136.24 μm, respectively. Increasing the reaction temperature can improve the rate of in-situ reaction and the thickness of TiC surface layer. When the experimental temperature rises to 1600 °C, the TiC surface layer thickness increases to 20.27 μm.展开更多

Negative thermal expansion coefficient method was proposed and element birth and death method was applied to analyze the residual thermal stresses which have non-uniform initial temperature field. The numerical results show a good agreement with the analytical results and the experimental results.
文摘In this research we presented a non-cyanide plating process of Ni-P alloy coating on Mg alloy AZ91D. The present non-cyanide process of electroless nickel plating is harmless to our surroundings and Ni-P coating on Mg alloy AZ91D produced by present process possesses good adhesion and corrosion resistance.
文摘The addition of superelastic NiTi to electroless Ni-P coating has been found to toughen the otherwise brittle coatings in static loading conditions, though its effect on erosion behaviour has not yet been explored. The following toughening mechanisms were identified: crack bridging and deflection, micro-cracking, and transformation toughening.

文摘A structure of gradient hard coatings( Ti,TiN,TiCN and TiAlN) is designed, and residual stress is simulated by a finite element method with ANSYS. The influence of the realistic situation including load and temperature on the residual stress of the coatings is investigated. Simulated results show that the realistic situation strongly affects the residual stress. To be specific,i) The main residual stress concentrates on the coatings prepared on YG8 substrate, and the residual stress and its gradient of the coatings are bigger than that of the substrate; ii) TiAlN and TiCN coatings have better resistance compression than that of TiN coatings in the same condition; iii) The improved multilayer structure of the gradient hard coatings produces weaker residual stress but higher anti-pressure of the substrate.

文摘The metal and nano-ceramic composite coatings were formed on gray cast iron surface by electrodepositon method. The Ni-Co was used as metal matrix, and the nano-Al2O3 was chosen as second-phase particulates. The gradient structure of biology material was the model to avoid bad interface bonding and stress distribution, therefore the gradient composite coating was prepared. The morphology of composite coatings was flatter and the microstructure was more com-pact than the pure Ni-Co coatings.Effect of pH value on surface morphology was analyzed, which some microcracks appeared when pH value was greater than 5.The content of codeposition na-no-Al2O3 reached a maximum value at pH value of 3-4,at the same time the properties including mi-crohardness and wear-resistance were analyzed. The result indicated that the mirohardness reached a maximum value and the wear loss volume was less at pH value 3-4.

文摘Gradient thermal barrier coatings (GTBCs) produced by co-deposition of mixtures ofAl-Al2 O3-YSZ onto metallic bond coat exhibited longer lifetimes than the two-layeredTBCs. The finite element method (FEM) numerical models were used to investigatestress and strain states in the GTBCs and traditional two-layered TBCs as they cooledto 750℃ from a stress-free state at 850℃.

文摘The effects of charging and outgassing on the friction and wear of Ni-P amorphous and nanocrystalline coatings were studied under ambient humidity and temperature. The results indicate that hydrogen charging can greatly decrease the volume loss during friction and increase the wear durability. However, the wear durability can be restored after outgassing. There are many cracks on the brittle nanocrystalline before charging, and no crack appears after charging, but there are only a few cracks on the outgassed sample. This indicates that hydrogen charging can inhibit the crack formation during friction for the brittle Ni-P nanocrystalline. For the charged sample, after the surface layer was removed by polishing, the wear track and the friction coefficient are consistent with those of an uncharged sample. The friction coefficient of the charged amorphous coating is very small within the first 140 s and then increases suddenly to the value corresponding to the uncharged sample. The absorbed surface layer lubricates the surface, reduces the friction coefficient, and improves the wear durability.

文摘TiC, ZrC and TaC modified layers were in-situ prepared on graphite matrix by chemical vapor infiltration method with metal salts as the activator. When the experimental temperature rises to 1600 °C, the TiC surface layer thickness increases to 20.27 μm.
