A year-long clinician training using the Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO®) model with monthly meetings was conducted and evaluated for its impact on primary care clinicians’ self-reported self-efficacy, ability to administer autism screening and counsel families, professional fulfillment, and burnout. Methods: Participants represented six community health centers and a hospital-based practice. Data collection was informed by participant feedback and the Normalization Process Theory via online surveys and focus groups/interviews. Twelve virtual monthly trainings were delivered between November 2020 and October 2021. Results: 30 clinicians participated in data collection. Matched analyses (n = 9) indicated statistically significant increase in self-rated ability to counsel families about autism (Pre-test Mean = 3.00, Post-test Mean = 3.89, p = 0.0313), manage autistic patients’ care (Pre-test Mean = 2.56, Post-test Mean = 4.11, p = 0.0078), empathy toward patients (Pre-test Mean = 2.11, Post-test Mean = 1.22, p = 0.0156) and colleagues (Pre-test Mean = 2.33, Post-test Mean = 1.22, respectively, p = 0.0391). Unmatched analysis revealed increases in participants confident about educating patients about autism (70.59%, post-test n = 12 vs. 3.33%, pre-test n = 1, p = 0.0019). Focus groups found increased confidence in using the term “autism”. Conclusion: Participants reported increases in ability and confidence to care for autistic patients, as well as empathy toward patients and colleagues. Future research should explore long-term outcomes in participants’ knowledge retention, confidence in practice, and improvements to autism evaluations and care.展开更多

Recently, the number of health care professionals seeking to work outside Albania is growing rapidly. In 2021 alone, 1073 nurses left Albania. The departure of health care professionals is reflected in education where it can be observed that a good part of the students who finished the bachelor’s level program did not enroll to continue the second level of study in the master’s. The student’s decision not to continue further levels of education has brought consequences from programs shutting down due to lack of students and forcing the university to spread out the few remaining students to other programs. Objective: The purpose of the study was to explore the opinions of Midwifery Students studying at the Bachelor level, regarding their professional future and continuing education. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study. In this study are included the students of the bachelor level of education. Student participating are studying Midwifery in the 2022-2023 academic year, at the Faculty of Technical Medical Sciences at the University of Medicine, Albania. Results: The students on average believe they can find a job as a midwife. The career is relatively safe and the profession of midwifery will ensure economic well-being for them. Most of the students hope to emigrate and develop their professional career outside of Albania. This was a surprise given that most frequent answers given by the students for not continuing their Master’s level education was the fact that the program was not accredited, their Bachelor’s diploma was also not accredited and so not recognized by other countries, the cost of continuing their studies was too high and their desire for a better economic and social status which they cannot get in Albania. The majority of students participating in the study identified emigration as the main way they plan to further their studies. Conclusions and Recommendations: Although the students had willingly chosen to continue the midwifery diploma, as they thought it would provide them with a proper future, this dignified professional future was seen as unattainable in Albania so they are seeking it out in more developed countries. A significant number of health professionals prefer to continue their second cycle studies in another country. The professional security within their home country does not satisfy the students. As the market demand for nurses around the globe escalates, the changes and consequences associated with nurse migration are increasingly in need of policy solutions that will address the needs of all parties involved. .展开更多

The problems faced by active nurses in participating in CNE include funding restrictions, time limitation and ability limitation. Logistic stepwise regression analysis reveals that the age of active nurses and working years of nurses are negatively correlated with the funding restrictions for participating in CNE (P < 0.05). It is relatively more difficult for young nurses with less working experience to obtain funding for participating in CNE. Moreover, there is a negative correlation between age, educational level and the ability of nurses to participate in CNE (P < 0.05). Younger nurses with lower educational level are more difficult to participate in CNE due to personal ability. There is a positive correlation between the length of working experience and the time limitation faced to participate in CNE (P < 0.05). Senior nurses are too busy with their work to participate in CNE due to limited time. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The problems faced by active nurses in Tibet in participating in CNE come from funding, time and ability. Young nurses with limited working experience cannot participate in CNE resulting from limited ability and funds;while senior nurses are mainly restricted by time. It is recommended that hospitals and nursing management in Tibet should solve these problems faced by nurses in participating in CNE by implementing a flexible scheduling system, and providing funding or implementing an incentive system, to enhance the confidence of active nurses in participating in CNE.展开更多

Implementers choose a communication model consistent with the fundamental orality of Kenyan and other sub-Saharan African countries. The project involved four hospitals and one training institution in rural Kenya. The testing of learners and focus group discussions with learners, facilitators and presenters indicated that the project's methodologies, that strove to be culturally and work place friendly, contributed to gains in knowledge, competencies including case management, the continuity of patient care, team work, staff morale and other issues of expressed importance to the hospital healthcare work force and hospital administrators. The learning system, known as Advancing Continuing Medical Education through Information Technology (ACME-IT), was implemented by the Kenyan Ministry of Medical Services, EC Associates and the US-funded Aphia2 Western initiative implemented by PATH. The findings of this pilot suggests that the ACME-IT methodology that set up learning centers at the participating institutions is a promising viable alternative to the traditional and relatively expensive workshop training that characterizes much of CME in lower and middle income countries.展开更多

文摘<strong>Objective:</strong> To investigate and analyze the current status of continuing nursing education (CNE) of in-service nurses in Tibet and their demand for continuing education. <strong>Methods:</strong> 663 active nurses in Tibet were taken as the research objects, and the self-developed questionnaire was used to investigate the current status and needs of CNE, and the correlation between the CNE needs of active nurses and their personal conditions was analyzed. <strong>Results:</strong> This study shows that 65.61% (435/663) of active nurses have not participated in any CNE, and 91.86% (609/663) of active nurses believe that they need to participate in CNE. It is recommended that hospitals and nursing management in Tibet should solve these problems faced by nurses in participating in CNE by implementing a flexible scheduling system, and providing funding or implementing an incentive system, to enhance the confidence of active nurses in participating in CNE.
文摘<strong>Background:</strong> This study aimed to determine the level of continuing medical education (CME) of medical imaging technicians in French-speaking West Africa. <strong>Materials and methods:</strong> This opinion survey was administered to radiology technicians in French-speaking West Africa from 1st June to 31st October 2020, <em>i.e.</em> over a period of 5 months concerning their level of CME and their need for CME. <strong>Results:</strong> Out of 100 technicians, 69% were men. The mean age was 40 years, with extremes ranging from age 23 to age 57. The majority of technicians (64%) worked in the public sector and 78% had work experience of less than 11 years. Most technicians were holders of a Bachelor’s degree (73%). The types of CMEs they knew were congresses, seminars, and modular training in 46% of the cases. The most available CMEs were seminars (63%). All technicians agreed on the need for CME and 96% said it had an impact on the delivery of radiology services. Technicians who had received CME at least once represented 61%. For 90% of technicians, the specific CME sought was management in radiology (33.33%) and radiation protection (25.81%). <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The need for CME is increasingly indisputable to radiology technicians in French-speaking West Africa;however, it remains a luxury for them, due to its scarcity and its high cost.
文摘A distance learning Continuing Medical Education (CME) project based on live interactive presentations and a group participatory model demonstrated that important strides can be made in the quality of CME available to health care professionals in African rural settings. The findings of this pilot suggests that the ACME-IT methodology that set up learning centers at the participating institutions is a promising viable alternative to the traditional and relatively expensive workshop training that characterizes much of CME in lower and middle income countries.
文摘The article, which discusses the relationship between the policy of flourishing China by science and(3ducatlon and continuing education, Is divided Into two parts,
文摘Much in-class education and training for developing countries have focused on how a learner absorbs knowledge and skills efficiently or effectively in the class, but are less interested in how the learners should transfer the knowledge and skills into their jobs in their workplace. In principle,in-class education and training have a difficulty with applying the learned knowledge and skills to learners’jobs in the workplace in comparison with any other practical-basis training. To overcome this difficulty, many educational stakeholders in the nuclear field have concentrated on how learners can transfer the knowledge and skills absorbed in the class into their jobs in their workplace. The action learning activity for learners can be one of the solutions to apply the knowledge and skills to their job in the workplace. The purpose of this study is to clarify how the transfer of learning has been implemented in the nuclear-related continuing professional educations and training for developing countries in Korea. To accomplish this purpose, this study is implemented as follows. The first is to define the concept of the“transfer of learning”clearly. The second is to clarify the core elements of the transfer of learning.Along with the clarification, the third is to show how the transfer of learning has been implemented in the continuing professional nuclear-related education and training for developing countries in Korea. The fourth is to present core problems in such education and training. As the fifth, this study suggests alternatives to overcome the core problems in the nuclear-related continuing professional education and training.
