Some equivalent conditions that an element is EP under the existence of core inverses are proposed. Let a∈R , then a is EP if and only if aa a^# = a^#aa . At the same time, the equivalent characterizations of a regular element to be EP are discussed.Let a∈R, then there exist b∈R such that a = aba and a is EP if and only if a∈R , a = a ba. Similarly, some equivalent conditions that an element is normal under the existence of core inverses are proposed. Let a∈R , then a is normal if and only if a^*a = a a^*. Also, some equivalent conditions of normal and Hermitian elements in rings with involution involving powers of their group and Moore-Penrose inverses are presented. Davenport, Lenstra and School proved that there exists a primitive element α ∈ Fq^n such that α generates a normal basis of Fq^n over Fq. Later, Mullin, Gao and Lenstra, etc., raised the definition of optimal normal bases and constructed such bases. In this paper, we determine all primitive type I optimal normal bases and all finite fields in which there exists a pair of reciprocal elements α and α^-1 such that both of them generate optimal normal bases of Fq^n over Fq. Furthermore, we obtain a sufficient condition for the existence of primitive type II optimal normal bases over finite fields and prove that all primitive optimal normal elements are conjugate to each other.展开更多
Multilayer ceramic coatings were fabricated on steel substrate using a combined technique of hot dipping aluminum(HDA) and plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO). A triangle of normalized layer thickness was created for d...Multilayer ceramic coatings were fabricated on steel substrate using a combined technique of hot dipping aluminum(HDA) and plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO). A triangle of normalized layer thickness was created for describing thickness ratios of HDA/PEO coatings. Then, the effect of thickness ratio on stresses field of HDA/PEO coatings subjected to uniform normal contact load was investigated by finite element method. Results show that the surface tensile stress is mainly affected by the thickness ratio of Al layer when the total thickness of coating is unchanged. With the increase of Al layer thickness, the surface tensile stress rises quickly. When Al2O3 layer thickness increases, surface tensile stress is diminished. Meanwhile, the maximum shear stress moves rapidly towards internal part of HDA/PEO coatings. Shear stress at the Al2O3 /Al interface is minimal when Al2O3 layer and Al layer have the same thickness.展开更多
A new membrane finite element method for modeling fluid flow in a porous medium is presented in order to quickly and accurately simulate the geo-membrane fabric used in civil engineering. It is based on discontinuous ...A new membrane finite element method for modeling fluid flow in a porous medium is presented in order to quickly and accurately simulate the geo-membrane fabric used in civil engineering. It is based on discontinuous finite element theory, and can be easily coupled with the normal Galerkin finite element method. Based on the saturated seepage equation, the element coefficient matrix of the membrane element method is derived, and a geometric transform relation for the membrane element between a global coordinate system and a local coordinate system is obtained. A method for the determination of the fluid flux conductivity of the membrane element is presented. This method provides a basis for determining discontinuous parameters in discontinuous finite element theory. An anti-seepage problem regarding the foundation of a building is analyzed by coupling the membrane finite element method with the normal Galerkin finite element method. The analysis results demonstrate the utility and superiority of the membrane finite element method in fluid flow analysis of a porous medium.展开更多

And the dispersion characteristics of these two kinds of HC- PCFs were analysed from 400 nm to 800 nm. Simulated and measured results show that the special structure could affect the properties of HC-PCFs, By comparing the simulated values with the measured results, it can be clarified that FEM is feasible and accurate for analysing photonic crystal fibres whose structures are irregular and complex.展开更多

The swelling process is regulated by many physical and chemical mechanisms, and can, to some extent, be fairly described by the poroelasticity theory. Implementation of the poroelastieity theory in the framework of finite element method would aid the design and optimization of hydrogel-based soft devices. Choosing chemical potential and displacement as two field variables, we present the implementation of poroelastieity tailored for hydrogel swelling dynamics, detail the normalization of physical parameters and the treatment of boundary conditions.
