The nursing staff who work there may be exposed to constant stress from these factors. This study aimed to explore the psychological experience of the nursing staff of the Medical Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospital. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study, in June 2017, involving the nursing staff of the Medical Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospital. Results: Sixteen out of 18 nurses were interviewed. All had worked in at least one other department prior to Oncology. The number of years of experience in Oncology ranged from less than one year to 13 years. The choice of the Oncology department was involuntary for 100% of the staff;of these, 62% had intentions of changing departments. Twenty-five percent had applied for a change of department, which was unsuccessful. Stress was expressed by 94% of the staff;93% thought that there was a solution to the stress experienced on a daily basis in the Oncology department. The main solutions proposed to manage this stress were: support for the staff, provision of work materials, and staff training. Conclusion: The nursing staff of the Medical Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospital experiences a high level of stress and are in need of solutions.展开更多

[Methods] 512 patients with coronary heart disease treated with PCI in the Cardiology Department of Taihe Hospital,Hubei University of Medicine from August 2015 to August 2018were given psychosomatic holistic nursing. Before and after the intervention, the improvement of the patients’ daily living ability, psychosomatic status and social support was analyzed by using the Barthel index of activities of daily living (ADL) scale,self-rating scale of 90 symptoms (SCL-90),and social support rating scale (SSRS). [Results]Before nursing intervention, the proportion of patients with grade Ⅰ objective score (26.56%) was lower than that of patients with grade Ⅰ subjective score (48.63%),and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05);the proportion of patients with grade Ⅱ objective score (70.11%) was higher than that of patients with grade Ⅱ subjective score (47.27%),and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). After the intervention, there was no significant difference between the distribution of the subjective score and the objective score (P > 0.05). After nursing intervention, the SCL-90 total score, number of positive items, average score of positive items, physical factor, forcing factor, depression factor, anxiety factor, interpersonal factor and hostile factor score significantly dropped, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05);the SSRS total score, objective support, subjective support and support utilization score significantly rose, and the difference was also statistically significant (P < 0.05). [Conclusions]Psychosomatic nursing for cardiology patients with coronary heart disease treated with PCI can effectively improve the patients’ ADL score, reduce the SCL-90 score, improve their social support,be beneficial to patients’ recovery, and improve their prognosis.展开更多

While administering high-level critical care, the working styles of critical care nurses, the types of clinical care they provide, and the way in which they prioritize tasks, remain unclear. Aim of this study was to elucidate the characteristic duties of critical care nurses through a comparison with neurological ward nurses. Methods: We recorded the duties of critical care nurses and neurology ward nurses (10 each) using a time-study design. Duties were measured separately by action, classified using a classification table, and differences between the two groups were compared. Results: No differences in the number of actions were observed between the two groups. The top five items that required the most time for critical care nurses were, “Movement”, “Administration and oxygen management”, “Handover process/Doctor’s rounds”, “Preparation for entry and exit management of patients”, and “Bed bathing (for bedbound patients)”. Of the 195 items, significant differences between the groups were noted for 34 items, while the duties of critical care nurses were best characterized by bed bathing (for bedbound patients), changing position, confirmation of infusion tubes, handover process/doctor’s rounds, and preparation for entry and exit management of patients. Conclusion: A characteristic of critical care nurses is that they must remain near patients and perform tasks while moving only a short distance. Moreover, the promotion of tasks while communicating with physicians is presumed to play a role in the promotion of team medicine. Furthermore, much time was spent caring for patients in bed, and a lot of time was devoted to the preparation and finalizing of treatments and care, suggesting the possibility that more time can be spent on caring for patients through a revision of duties.展开更多

The population in the emergency department is continuously growing. Acute stages of mental health problems can bring patients to the emergency department for care. Psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, living alone, depression, hopelessness, previous suicide attempts, self-devaluation, agitation, and insomnia are some risk factors that predispose individuals to suicide. Suicidal patients’ care in the emergency department can be challenging for healthcare professionals due to the complex environment and numerous other emergencies occurring altogether. Suicidal patients do not get the timely medical attention they need from clinicians. As a result, there are little information and few protocols in emergency departments about the correlation of the timely care and how it can affect the patients during the emergency department visit.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Most of the recent research on nightmare distress and depressive symptoms has focused on adolescents and students, with less research on the nurse population.Emergency department nurses are at high risk for nightmare distress and depressive symptoms, but no studies have been conducted to explore the relationship between the two;thus, further investigation is needed.AIM To understand the relationship between nightmare distress and depressive symptoms among emergency department nurses in China.METHODS A convenience sampling method was used to select 280 emergency department nurses from nine provinces, including Jiangxi,Sichuan,Jiangsu, and Shanxi Provinces. The Chinese version of the Nightmare Distress Questionnaire and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale(CES-D)were administered.RESULTS Emergency department nurses’nightmare distress scores were positively associated with depressive symptom scores(r=0.732),depressed affect(r=0.727),somatic symptoms(r=0.737),and interpersonal difficulty(r=0.647).Further multiple linear regression analyses showed that education level, work pressure,self-reported health, and CES-D scores were factors that influenced nightmare distress among Chinese emergency department nurses(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Nightmare distress is closely associated with depressive symptoms in Chinese emergency department nurses, and early intervention is recommended for professionals with this type of sleep disorder to reduce the occurrence of depressive symptoms.

文摘[Objectives]To explore the effect of psychosomatic nursing on the daily living ability and psychosomatic state rehabilitation of cardiology patients with coronary heart disease treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). [Conclusions]Psychosomatic nursing for cardiology patients with coronary heart disease treated with PCI can effectively improve the patients’ ADL score, reduce the SCL-90 score, improve their social support,be beneficial to patients’ recovery, and improve their prognosis.
文摘Background: The importance of the acute phase in hospitals has been increasing. Furthermore, much time was spent caring for patients in bed, and a lot of time was devoted to the preparation and finalizing of treatments and care, suggesting the possibility that more time can be spent on caring for patients through a revision of duties.
文摘Purpose: To explore the fever-related risk factors of inpatients in Rehabilitation Department, and to provide reference for patients with high risk of fever to take corresponding nursing measures. Methods: The study was conducted on the Rehabilitation Department of The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from July 2019 to December 2019. The fever group included 51 patients and the non-fever group included 49 patients without fever. The two groups of clinical data, comorbidities, related laboratory values, possible risk factors of fever were analyzed by case regression analysis, and the relevant risk factors were screened out by LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression analysis. Results: According to the results of Lasso regression analysis, pressure sore or skin infection, history of hypertension, current history of respiratory tract infection, feeding patterns were the higher risk factors of fever in inpatients in Rehabilitation Department, while the first course of disease, main diagnosis, history of respiratory tract infection within half a year, kidney damage and hospitalization days were lower risk factors. Conclusion: This study is helpful to early identify the fever risk of inpatients in Rehabilitation Department, and provide reference basis for high-risk fever patients to take positive and effective nursing measures.
文摘Patients who present to an emergency department are in a vulnerable state of mind. As a result, there are little information and few protocols in emergency departments about the correlation of the timely care and how it can affect the patients during the emergency department visit.
