The effect of high gravity factor, H2O2 concentration, pH value, liquid flow-rate, and reaction time on the efficiency for removal of nitrobenzene was investigated. The experimental results show that the high gravity technology enhances the ozone utilization efficiency with O3/H202 showing synergistic effect. The degradation efficiency in terms of the COD removal rate and nitrobenzene removal rate reached 45.8% and 50.4%, respectively, under the following reaction conditions, viz.: a high gravity factor of 66.54, a pH value of 9, a H2O2/O3 molar ratio of 1:1, a liquid flow rate of 140 L/h, an ozone concentration of 40 rag/L, a H2O2 multiple dosing mode of 6 mL/h, and a reaction time of 4 h. Compared with the performance of conventional stirred aeration mixers, the high gravity technology could increase the COD and nitrobenzene removal rate related with the nitrobenzene-containing wastewater by 22.9% and 23.3%, respectively.展开更多

The normal cell passes through several stages (Accumulation stage, Detoxification stage, Formation of free radical stage and Activation of nuclear factor kappa B stage and the shutting down of programs of cell death stage) to become a cancerous cell. The success of the therapeutic strategy to treat cancer depends on making either one or both programs of cell death run again. Shutting down one stage completely will be sufficient to stop the transformation of the natural cell into a cancerous cell, which eliminates the production of hydrogen peroxide, thus the activity of the NF-Kb will be inhibited. However, shutting down all stages is the most comprehensive therapeutic strategy and guarantees treatment success.展开更多

The precursor...β-β″-Al2O3precursor powder was successfully prepared by a solid-phase sintering method with Li2CO3, Na2CO3 (as the sources of Li20 and Na20, respectively) and β″-Al2O3 powder as the raw materials. The precursor was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scan- ning electron microscope (SEM). The results indicate that the amount of Na20 in the raw materials has a great effect on the formation of β″-Al2O3 in the β-β″-Al2O3 precursor. When Na20 content is 10 wt%, the content of β″-Al2O3 phase reaches the maximum value of 86.24 wt% in the precursor. The β-β″-Al2O3 ceramic was prepared from β-β″-Al2O3 precursor powder by isostatic pressing and burying sintering process. The conductive property of the β-β″-Al2O3 ceramic was examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method, and the density was measured by the Archimedes method. The results reveal that when 10 wt% Na20 was added, the sample exhibits the best performance with the lowest resistivity of 4.51.cm and the highest density of 3.25 g.cm 3. A solid electrolyte battery of PtlSnQ, Na2SnO3113 β-β″-Al2O3 Na CrO2, Cr2lO3 Pt was assembled by the β-β″-Al2O3 electrolyte tube to measure the open potential of the resulting battery, and the formation free energy of sodium stannate was calculated In the temperature range of 1273-773 K, the relationship between formation free energy of sodiumstannate and temperature was generated as follows:△GNa2SnO3 0=-1040.83+0.2221T±7.54.展开更多

In the present work, the experimental formula was designed to remove these blockers. It was applied on 120 Swiss albino mice which were inoculated intraperitoneally and subcutaneously with Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma cells;1 × (106) cell/mouse. The activity of the cell death programs of the tumor was detected by measuring the volume of Ascites fluid, counting the number of dead cancer cells, measuring the size of the tumor, detecting the positive reaction of caspase enzyme in cancer cells and presence of macrophages and apoptotic bodies in tumor tissue. The experimental formula succeeded in removing the blockers of the cell death program in cancer cells returning the cell death program to work again.展开更多
Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.(EuO),also known as Duzhong,native to China,has been reported to have antioxidative function,but its cellular mechanism is not fully examined yet.We investigated inhibitory effects of EuO leaf e...Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.(EuO),also known as Duzhong,native to China,has been reported to have antioxidative function,but its cellular mechanism is not fully examined yet.We investigated inhibitory effects of EuO leaf ethanol extracts on H2O2-induced apoptosis in rat osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells and underlying mechanisms.Locally-grown Duzhong leaves were extracted with ethanol.MC3T3-E1 cells were treated with EuO (6.25,12.5,25,50,and 100 μg/ml) for 24 h,and then H2O2 (800 μmol/L) for an additional 24 h.Cell survival rate,percentage of apoptosis,and expressions of caspases 3,6,7,and 9 were examined using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay,microscopic analysis,Western blotting,and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).The final EuO leaf ethanol extract powder was detected to contain caffeotannic acid at 58 mg/g and geniposide at 3.45 mg/g by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).EuO remarkably restrained cell oxidative damage and increased cell survival rate in a dose-dependent manner: 0 μg/ml,0.21;6.25 μg/ml,0.28;12.5 μg/ml,0.31;25 μg/ml,0.48;50 μg/ml,0.54;and 100 μg/ml,0.66 (P<0.05),with the half-effective concentration being around 25 μg/ml.MTT results were confirmed by microscopic analysis.Western blotting and RT-PCR analyses showed that the expressions of caspases 3,6,7,and 9 were significantly decreased in the EuO-treated cells compared with the control (EuOand H2O2-free) (P<0.05),with the half-effective concentration of EuO ranging from 12.5 to 25 μg/ml.We conclude that the ethanol-extracted EuO leaf extracts promoted the growth of MC3T3-E1 cells,and suppressed the H2O2-induced apoptosis in a rat MC3T3-E1 osteogenic cell model,likely due to the inhibition of caspases’ activities.The results indicate that EuO is a potent antioxidant,which may contribute to its many cellular protective functions,including the promotion of bone growth.展开更多
