Advances in Tongue Diagnosis Objectification of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Tongue diagnosis is a non-invasive,efficient,and accurate method for determining a person’s physical condition,and plays an essential role in disease diagnosis and health management.However,tongue diagnosis is easily influenced by the subjective experience of the practitioner and the light environment.In addition,tongue diagnosis lacks clear quantitative indicators and objective records.This all limits the transmission and development of tongue diagnosis.Therefore,the acquisition and analysis of tongue information using image equipment,image processing and computer vision have become a hot research topic for the objectification of tongue diagnosis.This paper reviews the research progress of tongue diagnosis objectification in Traditional Chinese medicine.The tongue image acquisition,color correction,segmentation,feature extraction and analysis,and disease prediction included in the study of tongue diagnosis objectification are reviewed.The shortcomings of current automated tongue diagnosis systems and future research ideas are also summarized to provide a reference for further development of tongue diagnosis objectification.

Exploring Objectification of Colonial Subjects in J. M. Coetzee＇s Foe

Objectification, a phenomenon, in Foucault＇s term, can be possible through ＂dividing practices＂ which divide the subject from others. It can be seen when the subject can be differentiated within the realms of good and bad, rich and poor, and powerful and powerless. Subject in Foucault＇s notion is the diagnosis of what we are and how the power subjected the subject. It also echoes the idea of Stephen Best where he explains that a muted slave has not simply been objectified, but thingified. J. M. Coetzee＇s Foe traverses through the conduit of objectification of Friday, cannibals slave who has been muted by his master. This novel articulates the testament of power and latent limitations of language, language as an expression of truth and the antithesis of silence. Friday＇s tongulessness is the mystery behind his submission and subjugation to slavery. It can be explored through the power of textaulity which has been controlled by the powerful. This novel intends to look upon the marginalized and voiceless condition questions the writing process of Susan Barton. It also echoes the phenomenon of Foucaultian concept of silence and resistance which has been tool to negate hegemonic power and it gives power for not being subjectivized. Therefore, it initiates the possibility of adaptation of the process of unbecoming to finish the authority of apparatuses as echoed by Althusser. Further, it portrays the hegemony in the construction of colonial subject by controlling the power of language, freedom to write and economic freedom. The paper in the context intends to examine the complex process of translating Friday into an object through the process of objectification.

Methodological Framework of Financial Analysis Results Objectification in Slovak Republic

The applicability of financial analysis results meets in practice a serious problem as to how to objectify analysis results with regard to the comparable values and information sources. Financial analysis results cannot be taken as useful and acceptable without their objectification on the basis of chosen reference rates, values. The article is focused on key information about financial analysis objectification methods, sources, and databases in conditions of Slovak enterprises. Current database for the comparison in Slovakia is currently provided by the company CRIF - Slovak Credit Bureau, which provides a complete range of solutions for business and consumer information as well as credit and marketing management. This information is very useful for financial analysis objectification, but not available for all potential users.

Consumer Culture in The Great Gatsby

F.Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby successfully portrays the“Jazz Age”.In the early 20th century,the United States transitioned from a production-based society to a consumer-based society,leading to an era of unparalleled prosperity.However,in the context of consumer culture,individuals often transition from being masters of their possessions to becoming enslaved by them.As a result,their behaviours and values become increasingly associated with extravagance and consumption.This paper uses Baudrillard’s theory of consumer society and textual analysis to explore the impact of consumer culture on human beings through the symbolization of men and objectification of women in The Great Gatsby.The meanings embedded in the novel are revealed from a different perspective.

Current Status of Objectification of Four Diagnostic Methods on Constitution Recognition of Chinese Medicine

Chinese medicine(CM)has thousands of years of experience in prevention of diseases.As for CM,people's constitution is closely related to their health status,thus recognition of CM constitution is the fundamental and core contentof research on constitution types.With development of technologies such as sensors,arificial intelligence and big data,objectification of the four diagnostic methods of CM has gradually matured,bringing changes in the mindset and innovations in technical means for recognition of CM constitution.This paper presents a systematic review of the latest research trends in constitution recognition based on objectification of diagnostic methods in CM.

Sexual violence, a prevalent problem in the spousal relationship, is closely related to the issue of female consciousness. In The Babysitter, Coover （1989） tells of a teenage girl babysitting two kids and a baby and of two of her male peers and the children＇s father altogether exploring their obsession towards her and, moreover, traces the evaluation and devaluation of women to the presentation of TV exploring its influence on his heroines, namely Mrs. Tucker and the babysitter serving as victims of the patriarchal society. Through a close engagement with the sexual objectification theory, this paper analyzes in detail men＇s aggressive oppressions upon women as well as women＇s compromise and rebellion towards the sexual violence, and investigates that the awakening of female independent consciousness is a key factor in effectively helping women achieve the gender equality between sexes.

From The Serenity Dwelling Collection to The Tea Smoke Pavilion Collection:ANew Discussion on the Guiding Principle behind Zhu Yizun's Object-Depicting Lyrics

The Lyric Collection on Objects of the Tea Smoke Pavilion is an anthology that Zhu Yizun compiled in his later years by carefully selecting object-depicting lyrics he composed throughout his life.Approximately 70 percent of the works were created before he participated in the imperial examination in 1679.This indicates that this anthology does not fully reflect the characteristics of the lyrics he penned in his later years.The collection title"Tea Smoke Pavilion,"as revealed in The Lyric Collection of the Serenity Dwelling,reflects the poet's distinctive approach to expressing emotions through depicting objects.A detailed examination of Zhu's works from the perspectives of textual structure,language,tone pattern and rhyming demonstrates that Zhu has consistently adhered to the same guiding principle when composing object-depicting lyrics.He has elevated the technique of“objectification,”pioneered by the poets of the Southern Song Dynasty to a new realm,crafting a unique beauty in object-depicting lyrics,which is different from the beauty of Song lyrics.His success is rooted in his emotional experiences depicted in The Serenity Dwelling Collection.His relentless exploration in artistic forms has provided a source of inspiration for scholars of later generations to explore how to convey personal sentiments.It also offers an opportunity to reflect on the merits and demerits regarding the development of object-depicting lyrics during the Qing Dynasty.

Objectified Study on Tongue Images of Patients with Lung Cancer of Different Syndromes

Objective：To describe the characteristic of tongue images of patients with lung cancer of different Chinese medicine（CM） syndromes and to reveal the elemental rule on the changes of the tongue images. Methods：A total of 207 patients with lung cancer were divided into four syndrome groups according to the theory of CM：Fei（肺） and Shen（肾） deficiency syndrome（Group A,72 cases）,Pi（脾） deficiency and phlegm dampness syndrome（Group B,57 cases）,phlegm-heat retention in Fei（Group C,36 cases） and yin asthenia generating intrinsic heat syndrome（Group D,42 cases）.The tongue parameters were detected by tongue image digital analysis instrument,and the tongue images were described with qualitative,tongue color and quantitative analysis,respectively.The International Commission on Illumination（CIE） L~＊a~＊b~＊（CIELAB） color model was used for the quantitative classification.Results：There was a significant statistical difference between different syndrome groups of lung cancer on tongue color,coating color,and thickness of tongue coating（P0.01）,and there was significant statistical difference between the four syndrome groups on Lab values of the tongue and coating（P0.05）.The correct identification rate of discriminant function on the raw data was 65.7%,including 72.2%for Group C,69.4%for Group A,69.0%for Group D and 54.4%for Group B.Conclusions：A tongue image digital analysis instrument can objectively describe the tongue features of patients with different syndromes of lung cancer.The tongue diagnosis is very important to syndrome differentiation in CM.Tongue diagnosis should be combined with some important characteristics of syndromes in the future to establish a＂combination of four examination methods,including inspection,auscultation,interrogation,and pulse-feeling and palpation＂in the tongue diagnostic system.

New Proposals for Application of Terahertz Imaging Technique in Chinese Medicine

The rapid development of terahertz technology promotes the realization of various terahertz imaging systems.Terahertz technology features terahertz waves as good non-invasive illumination sources due to their high spectral resolution,penetration and safety.The terahertz imaging technique(TIT)has gradually been extended from the biomedical field to the field of Chinese medicine(CM),and it has become a powerful tool for seeking scientific evidence for CM theories with the use of modern science and technology.This paper reviews the current application of TITs in the field of CM research,and most importantly offers novel proposals for the application of TITs in CM research from the perspective of CM syndrome objectification and acupuncture research and cites existing reports as reference to the feasibility of these new proposals.

Literary Signs:A Social Practice

This paper argues that literature is a social practical mode of production, as Marx argued.Besides, the paper continues to demonstrate that the tools of literary production, namely linguistic signs, are actually reflections of social life, which distinguish literature from other spiritual productions.Finally, the paper presents some further thoughts about the practice of literary signs, looking into the understandings of literature by Croce and Stolovich.
