The model is based on numerical evaluation of electromagnetic wave by applying an intrinsic field integral to evaluate the field behaviour inside the optical waveguide. To analyse the field distribution inside the non-uniform waveguide and predict the beam propagation of optical energy involved in the propagation process, it is necessary to track the motion of any observation point along the tapered waveguide itself. Physically, the rays of the spectrum undergo reflections on the waveguide boundaries until the cut-off occurs and the phenomena of radiation begin. The numerical results show good agreement with those obtained by classical methods of evaluation used bv other works.展开更多

The methods are developed in the vector form of fourthorder Runge–Kutta iterative scheme in the interaction picture by converting a vector equation in frequency domain. By simulating the supercontinuum generated from the high birefringence photonic crystal fiber, the calculation accuracies and the efficiencies of the two adaptive step-size methods are discussed. The simulation results show that the two methods have the same global average error, while RK4IP-LEM spends more time than RK4IP-CQE. The decrease of huge calculation time is due to the differences in the convergences of the relative photon number error and the approximated local error between these two adaptive step-size algorithms.展开更多

A tapered fiber amplifier with multi-seed sources by the way of parallel injection was studied. The lower-order modes are excited and more than 90% of the input signal power remains in the fiber core if optimal injection and taper design are set. The power in the doped-core is amplified with high optical-optical efficiency. When light is propagating along the fiber, the higher-order modes are filtered which results in the high output beam quality. Incoherent combination of multi-seed lights launched through the wide end gives rise to the output power of several kW.展开更多

The experimental data of AOA fluctuations validate the new derived expressions in weak and strong regimes. The results show that the receiving aperture D, outer scale and cell scale larger than the scattering disc S contribute significantly to the AOA fluctuations, and contributions from the small-scale turbulence are negligible. For the case of 4S/D 〈〈 1, the receiving aperture dominates low-pass filtering effects and the new displacement variances are in good agreement with the results from the old weak-fluctuation theory. The electron density distributions measured show a feature of hollow core. To illustrate the feature, we present a theoretical investigation by using dynamics analysis. In the simulation, the propagation of laser pulse with the evolution of electron density is utilized to evaluate ionization of air target for the plasma-formation stage. In the plasma-expansion stage, a simple adiabatic fluid dynamics is used to calculate the evolution of plasma outward expansion. The simulations show good agreements with experimental results, and demonstrate an effective way of determining 2D density profiles of the laser-induced plasma plume in gas.展开更多

The infinite Cartesian x-y plane is mapped into a unit square by a tangent-type function transformation. Consequently, the infinite region problem is converted into the finite region problem. Thus, the boundary truncation is eliminated and the calculation accuracy is promoted. The three-dimensional BPM basic equation is reduced to a set of first-order ordinary differential equations through sinusoidal basis function, which fits arbitrary cladding optical waveguide, then direct solution of the resulting equations by means of the Runge-Kutta method. In addition, the calculation is efficient due to the small matrix derived from the present technique. Both z-invariant and z-variant examples are considered to test both the accuracy and utility of this approach.展开更多

The context of this investigation is linear and nonlinear, strongly dispersive equations or systems of equations. The present essay deals with linear and nonlinear Schrdinger equations, a class of fractional order Schrdinger equations and the linearized water wave equations, with and without surface tension.
