BACKGROUND Quality of life(QoL)outcomes are a focal endpoint of cancer treatment strategies.AIM To externally validate the Moroccan Arabic version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORT...BACKGROUND Quality of life(QoL)outcomes are a focal endpoint of cancer treatment strategies.AIM To externally validate the Moroccan Arabic version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC)QoL Questionnaire(QLQ)for colorectal cancer(CRC)patients(CR29).METHODS Both Moroccan Arabic modules of QLQ-CR29 and QLQ-C30 were administered to Moroccan CRC.Psychometric properties were retested by measuring Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for reliability and Intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC)to examine test-retest reproducibility.The multitrait-scaling analysis was performed to demonstrate the validity of the instrument and known-groups comparison was used to test the score’s ability to discriminate between different groups of patients.RESULTS In total,221 patients were included in our study and 34 patients completed the questionnaire twice.The Urinary Frequency scale and Stool Frequency scale had good internal consistency with alpha Cronbach coefficients of 0.79 and 0.83 respectively,while the same coefficients were moderately lower for the Blood and Mucus in Stool scale(0.61)and the Body Image scale(0.67).The ICCs ranged from 0.88 to 1 indicating good to excellent reproducibility.In multitrait scaling analyses,the criterion for item convergent and divergent validity was satisfactory.The known-group comparison showed statistically significant differences between patients according to age,gender,stoma status,tumor location,and radiotherapy.CONCLUSION The Moroccan Arabic version of the EORTC QLQ-CR29 is a valid and reliable tool that can be used safely for research and clinical purposes in Moroccan CRC patients.展开更多

The decomposing ra...As an oil-decomposable mixture of two bacteria strains(Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp.), Y3 was isolated after 50 d domestication under the condition that oil was used as the limited carbon source. The decomposing rate by Y3 was higher than that by each separate individual strain, indicating a synergistic effect of the two bacteria. Under the conditions that T=25—40℃,pH=6—8, HRT(Hydraulic retention time)=36 h and the oil concentration at 0.1%, Y3 yielded the highest decomposing rate of 95.7 %. Y3 was also applied in an organic waste treatment machine and a certain rate of activated bacteria was put into the stuffing. A series of tests including humidity, pH, temperature, C/N rate and oil percentage of the stuffing were carried out to check the efficacy of oil-decomposition. Results showed that the oil content of the stuffing with inoculums was only half of that of the control. Furthermore, the bacteria were also beneficial to maintain the stability of the machine operating. Therefore, the bacteria mixture as well as the machines in this study could be very useful for waste treatment.展开更多
In this paper,the collective effects of combining heterogeneous Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst with the byproducts(primarily the irradiation and the O3 species) of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ) system o...In this paper,the collective effects of combining heterogeneous Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst with the byproducts(primarily the irradiation and the O3 species) of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ) system on the degradation of methyl orange(MO) were explored.The heterostructured Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite was achieved via decorating the Ag quantum dots(QDs) on the commercially available TiO_2catalyst(P25) through a hydrothermal method.The x-ray diffraction analysis of the nanocomposite catalyst showed the diffraction peaks at 44.3°,64.4°,and 77.5°,corresponding to the Ag planes of(200),(220) and(311),respectively.The high resolution transmission electron microscope characterization of the nanocomposite catalyst indicated that the Ag QDs with an average diameter of 5 nm were homogeneously distributed on the P25 surface.The experimental results on the MO photodegradation showed that the APPJ irradiation had a marginal effect on the cleavage of the MO molecules.When the Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst was used,the photodegradation rate of MO increased about 5 times.When both the APPJ byproducts and the Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst were used,however,over 90% of the MO in the tested solution was cleaved within 15 min,and the energy efficiency was about 0.6 g/k W h.Moreover,an optimal Ag dosage value was determined(6 wt%).The catalytic results indicated that combining the DBD plasma byproducts with heterogeneous nanocomposite catalysts may be an effect protocol for decreasing the application cost of the DBD system and mitigating the environment pollution by organic dyes in the textile industry.展开更多

Compared with general wet air oxidation, the pressure of the treatment(0 1—0 6MPa) is only one of tens to percentage of latter (3 5—10MPa). In addition, its temperature is no more than 180℃. Compared with Fenton reagent, while H 2O 2/COD(weight ratio) is less than 1 2, the removal of COD in the treatment is over twenty percents more than Fenton's even the value of COD is more than 14000mg/L. In this paper, the effect factor of COD removal and the mechanism of this treatment were studied. The existence of synergistic effect (catalytic oxidation and carbonization) for COD removal in H 2SO 4 Fenton reagent system under the condition of applied pressure and heating (0 1—0 6MPa, 104—165℃) was verified. The best condition of this disposal are as follows: H 2O 2/COD (weight ratio)=0 2—1 0, Fe 2+ 0 6×10 -3 mol, H 2SO 4 0 5mol, COD>1×10 4mg/L, the operating pressure is 0 1—0 6MPa and temperature is 104—165℃. This method suits to dispose the high concentrated refractory wastewater, especially to the wastewater containing H 2SO 4 produced in the manufacture of pesticide, dyestuff and petrochemical works.展开更多
Background:There are no clearly defined indications for pancreas-preserving duodenectomy.The present study aimed to analyze postoperative morbidity and the outcomes of patients undergoing pancreaspreserving duodenecto...Background:There are no clearly defined indications for pancreas-preserving duodenectomy.The present study aimed to analyze postoperative morbidity and the outcomes of patients undergoing pancreaspreserving duodenectomy.Methods:Patients undergoing pancreas-preserving duodenectomy from April 2008 to May 2020 were included.We divided the series according to indication:scenario 1,primary duodenal tumors;scenario 2,tumors of another origin with duodenal involvement;and scenario 3,emergency duodenectomy.Results:We included 35 patients.Total duodenectomy was performed in 1 patient of adenomatous duodenal polyposis,limited duodenectomy in 7,and third+fourth duodenal portion resection in 27.The indications for scenario 1 were gastrointestinal stromal tumor(n=13),adenocarcinoma(n=4),neuroendocrine tumor(n=3),duodenal adenoma(n=1),and adenomatous duodenal polyposis(n=1);scenario 2:retroperitoneal desmoid tumor(n=2),recurrence of liposarcoma(n=2),retroperitoneal paraganglioma(n=1),neuroendocrine tumor in pancreatic uncinate process(n=1),and duodenal infiltration due to metastatic adenopathies of a germinal tumor with digestive hemorrhage(n=1);and scenario 3:aortoenteric fistula(n=3),duodenal trauma(n=1),erosive duodenitis(n=1),and biliopancreatic limb ischemia(n=1).Severe complications(Clavien-Dindo≥IIIb)developed in 14%(5/35),and postoperative mortality was 3%(1/35).Conclusions:Pancreas-preserving duodenectomy is useful in the management of primary duodenal tumors,and is a technical option for some tumors with duodenal infiltration or in emergency interventions.展开更多

It is estimated that it entered Chile in 1992, and it must be controlled through different types of treatments such as thymol, formic and oxalic acid in different formulations and presentations. This kind of organic products has shown a variable acaricidal capacity, since different factors affect their efficacy such as ambient temperature and humidity, product presentation and location inside the hive, etc.. In Chile, beekeeping takes place in four different climatic zones, in which ambient temperature and humidity as well as the duration of the apicultural season are different. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine how ambient temperature and humidity influence the efficacy of the organic treatments used in the beekeeping season. Different apiaries were installed in those climatic zones in three seasons between the years 2009 and 2012. All beehives received the same management in each apiary and it was evaluated the same organic treatments in different formulations and presentations. All the beehives were positive to Varroa, which was obtained using samples of adult bees and the soapy water test before and after each treatment. A thermo-hygrometer was installed in each apiary in order to monitor the ambient temperature (T°) and humidity (H°) conditions, which were registered daily for a period of 30 days since the beginning. It was obtained that the treatments' efficacy increases as the minimum T° and average T° rose, whereas on the contrary, the efficacy decreases when maximum H° was higher.展开更多

This study aims to describe exclusively robot-assisted surgery as an alternative nephron-sparing approach for renal intraparenchymal tumors. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed all patients with completely endophytic tumors undergoing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy, treated under the Da Vinci System<sup>®</sup>, aided by intraoperative ultrasound. The patients’ demographic characteristics, perioperative and oncological outcomes were assessed. Results: From a total of 13 partial nephrectomies performed between 06/2010 and 10/2021, all patients underwent nephrotomy. The patients’ mean age was 52 years and the tumor measured mean 2.6 cm. Warm ischemia time was 24 minutes and histopathological analysis revealed that 12 patients had renal cell carcinoma. In a mean 36-month follow-up, no significant renal function alterations were found and no local or systemic recurrences occurred. Conclusion: Robot-assisted access is a safe and effective option for the nephron-sparing technique in completely intraparenchymal renal tumors.展开更多
This study is aimed to assess the long-term healthrelated quality of life (HRQL) of patients after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer in comparison with established norms, and to evaluate changes in HRQL during the...This study is aimed to assess the long-term healthrelated quality of life (HRQL) of patients after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer in comparison with established norms, and to evaluate changes in HRQL during the different stages of follow-up after esophageal resection. A systematic review was performed by searching medical databases (Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Library) for potentially relevant studies that appeared between January 1975 and March 2011. Studies were included if they addressed the question of HRQL after esophageal resection for esophageal cancer. Two researchers independently performed the study selection, data extraction and analysis processes. Twenty-one observational studies were included with a total of 1282 (12-355) patients. Five studies were performed with short form-36 (SF-36) and 16 with European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QLQ c30 (14 of them also utilized the disease-specific OESI8 or its previous version OES24).The analysis of long-term generic HRQL with SF-36 showed pooled scores for physical, role and social function after esophagectomy similar to United States norms, but lower pooled scores for physical function, vitality and general health perception. The analysis of HRQL conducted using the Global EORTC C30 global scale during a 6-mo follow-up showed that global scale and physical function were better at the baseline. The symptom scales indicated worsened fatigue, dyspnea and diarrhea 6 mo after esophagectomy. In contrast, however, emotional function had significantly improved after 6 mo. In conclusion, short- and long-term HRQL is deeply affected after esophagectomy for cancer. The impairment of physical function may be a long-term consequence of esophagectomy involving either the respiratory system or the alimentary tract. The short- and long-term improvement in the emotional function of patients who have undergone successful operations may be attributed to the impression that they have survived a near-death experience.展开更多

Abstract:Objective To determine the role of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), and evaluate the progress from SIRS to MODS and the therapeutic strategies for...Abstract:Objective To determine the role of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), and evaluate the progress from SIRS to MODS and the therapeutic strategies for acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP).Methods Rat ANP models were made by retrograde injection of 3.5% sodium taurocholate 2.5?ml/kg into the pancreatic duct. Serum interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), amylase, endotoxin, and albumin were examined. The morphology and pathology of the pancreas, liver, lung, kidney and heart after ANP were observed. Finally, TNFα mRNA in the liver, lung, kidney and heart after ANP were observed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reactions, and the efficiency of somatostatin and growth hormone were also observed in this experiment.Results ANP led to remarkable elevation of the inflammatory mediators which were positively correlated with the development of ANP and MODS. Somatostatin and growth hormone inhibited inflammatory mediators and TNFα mRNA overexpressions, reduced the risk of MODS, corrected hypoalbuminemia, reversed negative nitrogen balance, and controlled the reduction of cell groups with functions and reasonably intervened SIRS caused by ANP.Conclusion TNFα mRNA plays an important role in ANP progression. The amelioration of ANP by combination treatment with somatostatin and growth hormone leads to the reduction of complications and marked increase in survival.展开更多
Biological soil disinfestation is an effective method to control soil-borne disease by flooding and incorporating with organic amendments, but field conditions and resources sometimes limited its practical application...Biological soil disinfestation is an effective method to control soil-borne disease by flooding and incorporating with organic amendments, but field conditions and resources sometimes limited its practical application. A laboratory experiment was conducted to develop practice guidelines on controlling Fusarium wilt, a widespread banana disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense(FOC). FOC infested soil incorporated with rice or maize straw at rates of 1.5 tons/ha and 3.0 tons/ha was incubated under flooded or water-saturated(100% water holding capacity) conditions at 30℃ for 30 days. Results showed that FOC populations in the soils incorporated with either rice or maize straw rapidly reduced more than 90% in the first 15 days and then fluctuated till the end of incubation, while flooding alone without organic amendment reduced FOC populations slightly. The rapid and dramatic decrease of redox potential(down to- 350 m V) in straw-amended treatments implied that both anaerobic condition and strongly reductive soil condition would contribute to pathogen inactivation. Water-saturation combined with straw amendments had the comparable effects on reduction of FOC, indicating that flooding was not indispensable for inactivating FOC. There was no significant difference in the reduction of FOC observed in the straw amendments at between 1.5 and 3 tons/ha. Therefore,incorporating soil with straw(rice or maize straw) at a rate of 3.0 tons/ha under 100%water holding capacity or 1.5 tons/ha under flooding, would effectively alleviate banana Fusarium wilt caused by FOC after 15-day treating under 30℃.展开更多

The dye removal performance was evaluated through pressurized filtration tests using Titan Yellow aqueous solution. It showed that positively charged microporous ceramic membrane exhibited a flow rate of 421 L/(m^2·hr) under the trans-membrane pressure of 0.03 bar. Moreover it could effectively remove Titan Yellow with feed concentration of 10 mg/L between pH 3 to 8. The removal rate increased with the enhancement of the surface charge properties with a maximum rejection of 99.6%. This study provides a new and feasible method of removing organic dyes in wastewater. It is convinced that there will be a broad market for the application of charged ceramic membrane in the field of dye removal or recovery from industry wastewater.展开更多
Anion exchange resins (AERs) with different properties were evaluated for their ability to remove dissolved organic matter (DOM) and bromide, and to reduce disinfection by-product (DBP) formation potentials of w...Anion exchange resins (AERs) with different properties were evaluated for their ability to remove dissolved organic matter (DOM) and bromide, and to reduce disinfection by-product (DBP) formation potentials of water collected from a eutrophic surface water source in Japan. DOM and bromide were simultaneously removed by all selected AERs in batch adsorption experiments. A polyacrylic magnetic ion exchange resin (MIEX) showed faster dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal than other AERs because it had the smallest resin bead size. Aromatic DOM fractions with molecular weight larger than 1600 Da and fluorescent organic fractions of fulvic acid- and humic acid-like compounds were efficiently removed by all AERs. Polystyrene AERs were more effective in bromide removal than polyacrylic AERs. This result implied that the properties of AERs, i.e. material and resin size, influenced not only DOM removal but also bromide removal efficiency, MIEX showed significant chlorinated DBP removal because it had the highest DOC removal within 30 rain, whereas polystyrene AERs efficiently removed brominated DBPs, especially brominated trihalomethane species. The results suggested that, depending on source water DOM and bromide concentration, selecting a suitable AER is a key factor in effective control of chlorinated and brominated DBPs in drinking water.展开更多

Methods Seventy healthy SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups, including control group, model group, "Zúsānlǐ"(足三里 ST 36) group, "Shàngjùxū"(上巨虚 ST 37) group, "Xiàjùxū"(下巨虚 ST 39) group, "Yánglíngquán"(阳陵泉 GB 34) group and "Chéngjīn"(承筋 BL 56) group, with five male rats and five female rats in each group. Acute gastric mucosal lesion model was established by applying WRS method. After successful modeling and treatment for ten days, sampling was conducted, gastric mucosal lesion was observed visually and scored, the levels of serum HMGB 1 and gastric tissue TNF-α were detected by ELISA method, and the expression of NF-κB was detected by immunohistochemical method. Results①Compared with the model group, the levels of Ulcers and inflammation(UI) in gastric mucosal and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric tissue TNF-α and NF-κB in the four lower he-sea points groups reduced(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05);② compared with ST 36 group, the levels of gastric mucosal UI and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric mucosal TNF-α and NF-κB in other treatment groups increased significantly, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05). Conclusion①Electroacupuncture at relevant lower he-sea points can inhibit the body's immune response, relieve inflammatory reaction and reduce mucosal lesion by regulating HMGB 1, TNF-α and NF-κB, so as to realize the intervention and treatment on AGML rats;② the total intervention effect in ST 36 group is superior to that in other groups, indicating partially that there is a relative specificity between ST 36 and stomach.展开更多

This will allow us to harness a waste product from the mines, and utilize it to enhance TiO2 phot...In this work, we have shown that mining waste derived Fe^3+can be used to enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. This will allow us to harness a waste product from the mines, and utilize it to enhance TiO2 photocatalytic waste water treatment efficiency. An organic linker mediated route was utilized to create a composite of TiO2 and biogenic jarosite. Evidence of Fe/O/Ti bonding in the TiO2/jarosite composite was apparent from the FTIR, EFTEM, EELS and ELNEFS analysis. The as prepared material showed enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pristine TiO2, biogenic jarosite and mechanically mixed sample of jarosite and TiO2 under both simulated and natural solar irradiation. The prepared material can reduce the electrical energy consumption by 4 times compared to pristine P25 for degradation of organic pollutant in water. The material also showed good recyclability. Results obtained from sedimentation experiments showed that the larger sized jarosite material provided the surface to TiO2 nanoparticles, which increases the settling rate of the materials. This allowed simple and efficient recovery of the catalyst from the reaction system after completion of photocatalysis. Enhanced photocatalytic activity of the composite material was due to effective charge transfer between TiO2 and jarosite derived Fe^3+as was shown from the EELS and ELNEFS. Generation of OHU was supported by photoluminesence(PL) experiments.展开更多

文摘In this paper,the collective effects of combining heterogeneous Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst with the byproducts(primarily the irradiation and the O3 species) of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ) system on the degradation of methyl orange(MO) were explored.The heterostructured Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite was achieved via decorating the Ag quantum dots(QDs) on the commercially available TiO_2catalyst(P25) through a hydrothermal method.The x-ray diffraction analysis of the nanocomposite catalyst showed the diffraction peaks at 44.3°,64.4°,and 77.5°,corresponding to the Ag planes of(200),(220) and(311),respectively.The high resolution transmission electron microscope characterization of the nanocomposite catalyst indicated that the Ag QDs with an average diameter of 5 nm were homogeneously distributed on the P25 surface.The experimental results on the MO photodegradation showed that the APPJ irradiation had a marginal effect on the cleavage of the MO molecules.When the Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst was used,the photodegradation rate of MO increased about 5 times.When both the APPJ byproducts and the Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite catalyst were used,however,over 90% of the MO in the tested solution was cleaved within 15 min,and the energy efficiency was about 0.6 g/k W h.Moreover,an optimal Ag dosage value was determined(6 wt%).The catalytic results indicated that combining the DBD plasma byproducts with heterogeneous nanocomposite catalysts may be an effect protocol for decreasing the application cost of the DBD system and mitigating the environment pollution by organic dyes in the textile industry.
文摘Based on wet air oxidation (WAO) and Fenton reagent, this paper raised a new low pressure wet catalytic oxidation (LPWCO) which requires low pressure for the treatment of highly concentrated and refractory organic wastewater. Compared with general wet air oxidation, the pressure of the treatment(0 1—0 6MPa) is only one of tens to percentage of latter (3 5—10MPa). In addition, its temperature is no more than 180℃. Compared with Fenton reagent, while H 2O 2/COD(weight ratio) is less than 1 2, the removal of COD in the treatment is over twenty percents more than Fenton's even the value of COD is more than 14000mg/L. In this paper, the effect factor of COD removal and the mechanism of this treatment were studied. The existence of synergistic effect (catalytic oxidation and carbonization) for COD removal in H 2SO 4 Fenton reagent system under the condition of applied pressure and heating (0 1—0 6MPa, 104—165℃) was verified. The best condition of this disposal are as follows: H 2O 2/COD (weight ratio)=0 2—1 0, Fe 2+ 0 6×10 -3 mol, H 2SO 4 0 5mol, COD>1×10 4mg/L, the operating pressure is 0 1—0 6MPa and temperature is 104—165℃. This method suits to dispose the high concentrated refractory wastewater, especially to the wastewater containing H 2SO 4 produced in the manufacture of pesticide, dyestuff and petrochemical works.

文摘Background:There are no clearly defined indications for pancreas-preserving duodenectomy.The present study aimed to analyze postoperative morbidity and the outcomes of patients undergoing pancreaspreserving duodenectomy.Methods:Patients undergoing pancreas-preserving duodenectomy from April 2008 to May 2020 were included.We divided the series according to indication:scenario 1,primary duodenal tumors;scenario 2,tumors of another origin with duodenal involvement;and scenario 3,emergency duodenectomy.Results:We included 35 patients.Total duodenectomy was performed in 1 patient of adenomatous duodenal polyposis,limited duodenectomy in 7,and third+fourth duodenal portion resection in 27.The indications for scenario 1 were gastrointestinal stromal tumor(n=13),adenocarcinoma(n=4),neuroendocrine tumor(n=3),duodenal adenoma(n=1),and adenomatous duodenal polyposis(n=1);scenario 2:retroperitoneal desmoid tumor(n=2),recurrence of liposarcoma(n=2),retroperitoneal paraganglioma(n=1),neuroendocrine tumor in pancreatic uncinate process(n=1),and duodenal infiltration due to metastatic adenopathies of a germinal tumor with digestive hemorrhage(n=1);and scenario 3:aortoenteric fistula(n=3),duodenal trauma(n=1),erosive duodenitis(n=1),and biliopancreatic limb ischemia(n=1).Severe complications(Clavien-Dindo≥IIIb)developed in 14%(5/35),and postoperative mortality was 3%(1/35).Conclusions:Pancreas-preserving duodenectomy is useful in the management of primary duodenal tumors,and is a technical option for some tumors with duodenal infiltration or in emergency interventions.
文摘Varroasis is a disease caused by the mite Varroa destructor, which affects honeybees worldwide. It is estimated that it entered Chile in 1992, and it must be controlled through different types of treatments such as thymol, formic and oxalic acid in different formulations and presentations. This kind of organic products has shown a variable acaricidal capacity, since different factors affect their efficacy such as ambient temperature and humidity, product presentation and location inside the hive, etc.. In Chile, beekeeping takes place in four different climatic zones, in which ambient temperature and humidity as well as the duration of the apicultural season are different. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine how ambient temperature and humidity influence the efficacy of the organic treatments used in the beekeeping season. Different apiaries were installed in those climatic zones in three seasons between the years 2009 and 2012. All beehives received the same management in each apiary and it was evaluated the same organic treatments in different formulations and presentations. All the beehives were positive to Varroa, which was obtained using samples of adult bees and the soapy water test before and after each treatment. A thermo-hygrometer was installed in each apiary in order to monitor the ambient temperature (T°) and humidity (H°) conditions, which were registered daily for a period of 30 days since the beginning. It was obtained that the treatments' efficacy increases as the minimum T° and average T° rose, whereas on the contrary, the efficacy decreases when maximum H° was higher.

文摘Introduction: The diagnosis of small renal masses and the endophytic tumor approach have become challenging. This study aims to describe exclusively robot-assisted surgery as an alternative nephron-sparing approach for renal intraparenchymal tumors. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed all patients with completely endophytic tumors undergoing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy, treated under the Da Vinci System<sup>®</sup>, aided by intraoperative ultrasound. The patients’ demographic characteristics, perioperative and oncological outcomes were assessed. Results: From a total of 13 partial nephrectomies performed between 06/2010 and 10/2021, all patients underwent nephrotomy. The patients’ mean age was 52 years and the tumor measured mean 2.6 cm. Warm ischemia time was 24 minutes and histopathological analysis revealed that 12 patients had renal cell carcinoma. In a mean 36-month follow-up, no significant renal function alterations were found and no local or systemic recurrences occurred. Conclusion: Robot-assisted access is a safe and effective option for the nephron-sparing technique in completely intraparenchymal renal tumors.
文摘This study is aimed to assess the long-term healthrelated quality of life (HRQL) of patients after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer in comparison with established norms, and to evaluate changes in HRQL during the different stages of follow-up after esophageal resection. A systematic review was performed by searching medical databases (Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Library) for potentially relevant studies that appeared between January 1975 and March 2011. Studies were included if they addressed the question of HRQL after esophageal resection for esophageal cancer. Two researchers independently performed the study selection, data extraction and analysis processes. Twenty-one observational studies were included with a total of 1282 (12-355) patients. Five studies were performed with short form-36 (SF-36) and 16 with European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QLQ c30 (14 of them also utilized the disease-specific OESI8 or its previous version OES24).The analysis of long-term generic HRQL with SF-36 showed pooled scores for physical, role and social function after esophagectomy similar to United States norms, but lower pooled scores for physical function, vitality and general health perception. The analysis of HRQL conducted using the Global EORTC C30 global scale during a 6-mo follow-up showed that global scale and physical function were better at the baseline. The symptom scales indicated worsened fatigue, dyspnea and diarrhea 6 mo after esophagectomy. In contrast, however, emotional function had significantly improved after 6 mo. In conclusion, short- and long-term HRQL is deeply affected after esophagectomy for cancer. The impairment of physical function may be a long-term consequence of esophagectomy involving either the respiratory system or the alimentary tract. The short- and long-term improvement in the emotional function of patients who have undergone successful operations may be attributed to the impression that they have survived a near-death experience.

文摘Abstract:Objective To determine the role of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), and evaluate the progress from SIRS to MODS and the therapeutic strategies for acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP).Methods Rat ANP models were made by retrograde injection of 3.5% sodium taurocholate 2.5?ml/kg into the pancreatic duct. Serum interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), amylase, endotoxin, and albumin were examined. The morphology and pathology of the pancreas, liver, lung, kidney and heart after ANP were observed. Finally, TNFα mRNA in the liver, lung, kidney and heart after ANP were observed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reactions, and the efficiency of somatostatin and growth hormone were also observed in this experiment.Results ANP led to remarkable elevation of the inflammatory mediators which were positively correlated with the development of ANP and MODS. Somatostatin and growth hormone inhibited inflammatory mediators and TNFα mRNA overexpressions, reduced the risk of MODS, corrected hypoalbuminemia, reversed negative nitrogen balance, and controlled the reduction of cell groups with functions and reasonably intervened SIRS caused by ANP.Conclusion TNFα mRNA plays an important role in ANP progression. The amelioration of ANP by combination treatment with somatostatin and growth hormone leads to the reduction of complications and marked increase in survival.

文摘Biological soil disinfestation is an effective method to control soil-borne disease by flooding and incorporating with organic amendments, but field conditions and resources sometimes limited its practical application. A laboratory experiment was conducted to develop practice guidelines on controlling Fusarium wilt, a widespread banana disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense(FOC). FOC infested soil incorporated with rice or maize straw at rates of 1.5 tons/ha and 3.0 tons/ha was incubated under flooded or water-saturated(100% water holding capacity) conditions at 30℃ for 30 days. Results showed that FOC populations in the soils incorporated with either rice or maize straw rapidly reduced more than 90% in the first 15 days and then fluctuated till the end of incubation, while flooding alone without organic amendment reduced FOC populations slightly. The rapid and dramatic decrease of redox potential(down to- 350 m V) in straw-amended treatments implied that both anaerobic condition and strongly reductive soil condition would contribute to pathogen inactivation. Water-saturation combined with straw amendments had the comparable effects on reduction of FOC, indicating that flooding was not indispensable for inactivating FOC. There was no significant difference in the reduction of FOC observed in the straw amendments at between 1.5 and 3 tons/ha. Therefore,incorporating soil with straw(rice or maize straw) at a rate of 3.0 tons/ha under 100%water holding capacity or 1.5 tons/ha under flooding, would effectively alleviate banana Fusarium wilt caused by FOC after 15-day treating under 30℃.

文摘To develop a depth filter based on the electrostatic adsorption principle, positively charged microporous ceramic membrane was prepared from a diatomaceous earth ceramic membrane.The internal surface of the highly porous ceramic membrane was coated with uniformly distributed electropositive nano-Y2O3 coating. The dye removal performance was evaluated through pressurized filtration tests using Titan Yellow aqueous solution. It showed that positively charged microporous ceramic membrane exhibited a flow rate of 421 L/(m^2·hr) under the trans-membrane pressure of 0.03 bar. Moreover it could effectively remove Titan Yellow with feed concentration of 10 mg/L between pH 3 to 8. The removal rate increased with the enhancement of the surface charge properties with a maximum rejection of 99.6%. This study provides a new and feasible method of removing organic dyes in wastewater. It is convinced that there will be a broad market for the application of charged ceramic membrane in the field of dye removal or recovery from industry wastewater.

文摘Anion exchange resins (AERs) with different properties were evaluated for their ability to remove dissolved organic matter (DOM) and bromide, and to reduce disinfection by-product (DBP) formation potentials of water collected from a eutrophic surface water source in Japan. DOM and bromide were simultaneously removed by all selected AERs in batch adsorption experiments. A polyacrylic magnetic ion exchange resin (MIEX) showed faster dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal than other AERs because it had the smallest resin bead size. Aromatic DOM fractions with molecular weight larger than 1600 Da and fluorescent organic fractions of fulvic acid- and humic acid-like compounds were efficiently removed by all AERs. Polystyrene AERs were more effective in bromide removal than polyacrylic AERs. This result implied that the properties of AERs, i.e. material and resin size, influenced not only DOM removal but also bromide removal efficiency, MIEX showed significant chlorinated DBP removal because it had the highest DOC removal within 30 rain, whereas polystyrene AERs efficiently removed brominated DBPs, especially brominated trihalomethane species. The results suggested that, depending on source water DOM and bromide concentration, selecting a suitable AER is a key factor in effective control of chlorinated and brominated DBPs in drinking water.

文摘Objective To contrastively observe the effect of electroacupuncture at lower he-sea points of stomach, large intestine, small intestine and gallbladder of acute gastric mucosal lesion(AGML) model rats on the expression of serum high mobility group protein B 1(HMGB 1), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) of gastric tissue, and to explore whether the lower he-sea points of stomach have relative specificity in treatment of stomach diseases. Methods Seventy healthy SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups, including control group, model group, "Zúsānlǐ"(足三里 ST 36) group, "Shàngjùxū"(上巨虚 ST 37) group, "Xiàjùxū"(下巨虚 ST 39) group, "Yánglíngquán"(阳陵泉 GB 34) group and "Chéngjīn"(承筋 BL 56) group, with five male rats and five female rats in each group. Acute gastric mucosal lesion model was established by applying WRS method. After successful modeling and treatment for ten days, sampling was conducted, gastric mucosal lesion was observed visually and scored, the levels of serum HMGB 1 and gastric tissue TNF-α were detected by ELISA method, and the expression of NF-κB was detected by immunohistochemical method. Results①Compared with the model group, the levels of Ulcers and inflammation(UI) in gastric mucosal and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric tissue TNF-α and NF-κB in the four lower he-sea points groups reduced(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05);② compared with ST 36 group, the levels of gastric mucosal UI and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric mucosal TNF-α and NF-κB in other treatment groups increased significantly, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05). Conclusion①Electroacupuncture at relevant lower he-sea points can inhibit the body's immune response, relieve inflammatory reaction and reduce mucosal lesion by regulating HMGB 1, TNF-α and NF-κB, so as to realize the intervention and treatment on AGML rats;② the total intervention effect in ST 36 group is superior to that in other groups, indicating partially that there is a relative specificity between ST 36 and stomach.

文摘In this work, we have shown that mining waste derived Fe^3+can be used to enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. This will allow us to harness a waste product from the mines, and utilize it to enhance TiO2 photocatalytic waste water treatment efficiency. An organic linker mediated route was utilized to create a composite of TiO2 and biogenic jarosite. Evidence of Fe/O/Ti bonding in the TiO2/jarosite composite was apparent from the FTIR, EFTEM, EELS and ELNEFS analysis. The as prepared material showed enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pristine TiO2, biogenic jarosite and mechanically mixed sample of jarosite and TiO2 under both simulated and natural solar irradiation. The prepared material can reduce the electrical energy consumption by 4 times compared to pristine P25 for degradation of organic pollutant in water. The material also showed good recyclability. Results obtained from sedimentation experiments showed that the larger sized jarosite material provided the surface to TiO2 nanoparticles, which increases the settling rate of the materials. This allowed simple and efficient recovery of the catalyst from the reaction system after completion of photocatalysis. Enhanced photocatalytic activity of the composite material was due to effective charge transfer between TiO2 and jarosite derived Fe^3+as was shown from the EELS and ELNEFS. Generation of OHU was supported by photoluminesence(PL) experiments.
