Daxiang Mountain Giant Buddha Grottoes is the landmark of Gangu County. The giant Buddha statue stands among cliffs 200 meters high above the ground, and it is the second largest stone-base clay-sculpture Buddha in China. After going through thousands of years, the Giant Buddha Grottoes needs effective and scientific protection. This article was originated from the actual project—The Research on the Construction Technology of Wooden-structure Grotto Eaves in the Daxiang Mountain. This article f inished the rebuilding plan for the Buddha Grotto Eaves on the basis of analyzing historical documents, hole traces, morphological evolution and image demonstration.展开更多

There is no consensus in international academia on the absolutely universal appearance of chiefdom in all parts of the world. Making this point clear has positive significance for the correct understanding of the orig...There is no consensus in international academia on the absolutely universal appearance of chiefdom in all parts of the world. Making this point clear has positive significance for the correct understanding of the original meaning of the concept and theory of chiefdom. Further researches on the distribution of chiefdoms in Europe and other parts of the world, based on studies of ancient Greek and early medieval Germanic cases, will not change our basic understanding of the chiefdom model's applicability to the case of China, nor will it pose a serious challenge to the ongoing researches on state emergence in China. It is undoubtedly very helpful if we diligently apply foreign academic findings to our own studies in this subject, but genuine and in-depth understanding is necessary, if researchers are to accurately interpret and sum up the real implications of these foreign materials. At present, some Chinese scholars have produced various generalizations based on their own understanding of foreign research results. However, since they are not based on careful study of the original literary sources and other materials, those "generalized" views are often inaccurate. Currently,most of the methods formineral materials analysis generate secondary pollution,which is detrimental to human health.For instance,traditionalmethods for sphalerite analysis in the zinc(Zn)smelting industry in...Currently,most of the methods formineral materials analysis generate secondary pollution,which is detrimental to human health.For instance,traditionalmethods for sphalerite analysis in the zinc(Zn)smelting industry including chemical titration,atomic absorption spectrometry,and inductively coupled atomic emission spectroscopy.Colored indicators and toxic heavy metals are used in the analytical processes,causing severe pollution.For some methods,liquid is transformed into gaseous plasma,which is more dangerous to human health.Due to large quantities of sphalerite being used,secondary pollution cannot be ignored.This study proposes a green analysis method for the detection of sphalerite based on colorimetry,which does not generate secondary pollution.The results show that the strong substitution ability of iron(Fe)for Zn contributes to their inverse correlation in contents.The lattice parameters decrease with the increasing Fe content,resulting in a darker coloration.Here,key colorimetry parameters of L*,a*,and b*show clear linear correlations with the Zn and Fe contents.Compared with traditional approaches,this new method is environmental friendly with high sensitivity and accuracy.The relative error and relative standard deviation were less than 10%and 5%,respectively.This study provides a significant reference for nonpollution determination of other mineral materials.展开更多
