Based on the barotropic primitive equation in the polar coordinate system and the appropriate assumption, we obtained the mathematical equation of orographic forcing on unit mass air parcel. With the consideration of the frictional stress of the sea and land, supposing that parcel velocity in tropical cyclones is in linear variation and that the distribution of surface pressure is circular, a set of equations are derived, which describe the impact of orographic slope error, the central pressure error and position error of tropical cyclones on the wind field in the tropical cyclone. Typhoon Wipha (2007) is selected to verify the above interpretation method. The results show that the orographic slope, the frictional coefficient, the intensity and position of the cyclone are the important factors which have great influence on the interpretation of wind information about tropical cyclones. The dynamic interpretation method gives very good results, especially for the coastal area. It is applicable to improving the forecasts of the wind field in tropical cyclones. 展开更多

We investigate the effects of dynamical Casimir effect in superradiant light scattering by Bose-Einstein condensate in an optomechanical cavity. The system is studied using both classical and quantized mirror motions. The cavity frequency is harmonically modulated in time for both the cases. The main quantity of interest is the number of intracavity scattered photons. The system has been investigated under the weak and strong modulations. It has been observed that the amplitude of the scattered photons is more for the classical mirror motion than the quantized mirror motion. Also, initially, the amplitude of scattered photons is high for lower modulation amplitude than higher modulation amplitude. We also found that the behavior of the plots are similar under strong and weak modulations for the quantized mirror motion. 展开更多

The dynamical effects on electron-positron pair creation from a vacuum caused by the switching processes of a super- critical well potential are investigated in detail. The results show that only when the switching on and switching off time both increase will the final pair yield converge to the integer of embedded bound states nearly exponentially. But a single adiabatic switching on or switching off cannot lead to an integer pair yield. If the potential is turned on abruptly, associated with the discrete and embedded bound states, there is multi-frequency oscillation around the pair number's saturation. The slowly switching on can suppress the amplitude of this oscillation and reduce the final pair yield. The switching off can also reduce the final pair number in the same order of magnitude. The evolution of a single-pair number shows a robust long range correlation between particle and antiparticle. For an adiabatic switching case, the single-pair dominates the early pair creation, their upper limit value is equal to the integer, and these single-pairs will totally disentangle during the switching off. 展开更多

We present analytical solutions describing quantized vacuum field in a one-dimensional cavity with one of its two mirrors fixed and another vibrating in simple harmonic form. These solutions are accurate up to the second order of the oscillating magnitude and they are uniformly valid for all time. We obtain the simple analytical expression for the energy density of the field which explicitly manifests that for a cavity vibrating at its -th eigenfrequency, traveling wave packets emerge in the finite part of the field energy density, and their amplitudes grow while their widths shrink in time, representing a large concentration of energy. The finite part of the field energy density originating from the oscillations is shown to be proportional to the factor . 展开更多

We investigate the dynamics of parity-and time-reversal(PT) symmetric two-energy-level atoms in the presence of two optical and one radio-frequency fields. The strength and relative phase of fields can drive the system from the unbroken to the broken PT symmetric regions. Compared with the Hermitian model, Rabi-type oscillation is still observed, and the oscillation characteristics are also adjusted by the strength and relative phase in the region of the unbroken symmetry. At the exception point, the oscillation breaks down. To better understand the underlying properties we study the effective Bloch dynamics and find that the emergence of the PT components of the fixed points is the feature of the PT symmetry breaking and the projections in the x–y plane can be controlled with high flexibility compared with the standard two-level system with the PT symmetry. It helps to study the dynamic behavior of the complex PT symmetric model. 展开更多

Iron(Fe)-based alloys, which have been widely used as structural materials in nuclear reactors, can significantly change their microstructure properties and macroscopic properties under high flux neutron irradiation during operation, thus, the problems associated with the safe operation of nuclear reactors have been put forward naturally. In this work,a molecular dynamics simulation approach combined with electronic effects is developed for investigating the primary radiation damage process inα-Fe.Specifically,the influence of electronic effects on the collision cascade in Fe is systematically evaluated based on two commonly used interatomic potentials for Fe.The simulation results reveal that both electronic stopping(ES)and electron-phonon coupling(EPC)can contribute to the decrease of the number of defects in the thermal spike phase. The application of ES reduces the number of residual defects after the cascade evolution, whereas EPC has a reverse effect. The introduction of electronic effects promotes the formation of the dispersive subcascade:ES significantly changes the geometry of the damaged region in the thermal spike phase, whereas EPC mainly reduces the extent of the damaged region.Furthermore, the incorporation of electronic effects effectively mitigates discrepancies in simulation outcomes when using different interatomic potentials. 展开更多

This study was aimed to analyze the effect of procyanidin B2(PC)and tannin acid(TA)on the activities of cholesterol esterase(CEase)and the inhibitory mechanisms of enzymatic activity. The interaction mechanisms were investigated by enzymatic kinetics,multi-spectroscopy methods, thermodynamics analysis, molecular docking, and dynamic simulations.PC and TA could bind with CEase and inhibit the activity of enzyme in a mixed-competitive manner and non-competitive manner, which was verified by molecular docking simulations and dynamics simulations. Also,PC and TA showed the synergistic inhibition with orlistat.Fluorescence,UVvis and the thermodynamic analysis revealed that the complexes were formed from CEase and inhibitors by noncovalent interaction. As revealed by the circular dichroism results, both PC and TA decreased enzymatic activities by altering the conformations of CEase. The inhibition of PC and TA on CEase might be one mechanism for its cholesterol-lowering effect. 展开更多

Appropriate drying process with optimized controlling of drying parameters plays a vital role in the improvement of the quality and performance of propellant products. However, few research on solvent transport dynamics within NC-based propellants was reported, and its effect on the evolution of mechanical properties was not interpreted yet. This study is conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of hot-air drying for NC-based propellants and clarify the effect of temperature on solvent transport behavior and further the change of mechanical properties during drying. The drying kinetic curves show the drying time required is decreased but the steady solvent content is increased and the drying rate is obviously increased with the increase of hot-air temperatures, indicating hot-air temperatures have a significant effect on drying kinetics.A modified drying model was established, and results show it is more appropriate to describe solvent transport behavior within NC-based propellants. Moreover, two linear equations were established to exhibit the relationship between solvent content and its effect on the change of tensile properties, and the decrease of residual solvent content causes an obvious increase of tensile strength and tensile modulus of propellant products, indicating its mechanical properties can be partly improved by adjustment of residual solvent content. The outcomes can be used to clarify solvent transport mechanisms and optimize drying process parameters of double-based gun propellants. 展开更多

In order to investigate the effect of vehicle-bridge coupling on the dynamic characteristics of the bridge,a steel-concrete composite beam suspension bridge is taken as the research object, and a three-dimensional spatial model of the bridge and a biaxial vehicle model of the vehicle are established, and then a vehicle-bridge coupling vibration system is constructed on the basis of the Nemak-βmethod,and the impact coefficients of each part of the bridge are obtained under different bridge deck unevenness and vehicle speed. The simulation results show that the bridge deck unevenness has the greatest influence on the vibration response of the bridge, and the bridge impact coefficient increases along with the increase in the level of bridge deck unevenness, and the impact coefficient of the main longitudinal girder and the secondary longitudinal girder achieves the maximum value when the level 4 unevenness is 0.328 and 0.314,respectively;when the vehicle speed is increased, the vibration response of the bridge increases and then decreases, and the impact coefficient of the bridge in the middle of the bridge at a speed of 60 km/h achieves the maximum value of 0.192. 展开更多

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of monocrystalline copper (100) surface during nanomachining process were performed based on a new 3D simulation model. The material removal mechanism and system temperature distribution were discussed. The simulation results indicate that the system temperature distribution presents a roughly concentric shape, a steep temperature gradient is observed in diamond cutting tool, and the highest temperature is located in chip. Centrosymmetry parameter method was used to monitor defect structures. Dislocations and vacancies are the two principal types of defect structures. Residual defect structures impose a major change on the workpiece physical properties and machined surface quality. The defect structures in workpiece are temperature dependent. As the temperature increases, the dislocations are mainly mediated from the workpiece surface, while the others are dissociated into point defects. The relatively high cutting speed used in nanomachining results in less defect structures, beneficial to obtain highly machined surface quality. 展开更多

The landfall process of typhoon Haitang which affected East China seriously was simulated by using the MM5 model and the track, intensity, precipitation and structure of typhoon were successfully reproduced. Then through the sensitive test, the effects of terrain were analyzed Results show that the irregular track during the period of typhoon passing through Taiwan and later landfalling at Fujian was in relation to the occurring and developing of orthographic impressed depression. The amount of rainfall was enhanced more than one time and the strength of typhoon was weakened 4 to 5 hPa. It is found that the effect of terrain on the structure of typhoon is limited at low level and is backward in space compared with the one at high level. In addition, the phenomenon that the equivalent temperature in the typhoon's moving direction inclines to the west on the eye of landfall may be concerned with the terrain. 展开更多

Flatness control is the key and highly difficult technique of strip mills. The bottle-neck restricting the improvement of flatness control techniques is that the research on flatness theories and control mathematic models is not in accordance with the requirement of technique developments. To build a simple, rapid and accurate explicit formulation control model has become an urgent need for the development of flatness control technique. This paper puts forward the conception of dynamic effective matrix based on the effective matrix method for flatness control proposed by the authors under the consideration of the influence of the change of parameters in roiling processes on the effective matrix, and the concept is validated by industrial productions. Three methods of the effective matrix generation are induced: the calculation method based on the flatness prediction model; the calculation method based on the data excavation in rolling processes and the direct calculation method based on the network model. A fuzzy neural network effective matrix model is built based on the clusters, and then the network structure is optimized and the high-speed-calculation problem of the dynamic effective matrix is solved. The flatness control scheme for cold strip mills is proposed based on the dynamic effective matrix. On stand 5 of the 1 220 mm five-stand 4-high cold strip tandem mill, the industrial experiment with the control methods of tilting roll and bending roll is done by the control scheme of the static effective matrix and the dynamic effective matrix, respectively. The experiment result proves that the control effect of the dynamic effective matrix is much better than that of the static effective matrix. This paper proposes a new idea and method for the dynamic flatness control in the rolling processes of cold strip mills and develops the theory and model of the flatness control effective matrix method. 展开更多

Based on a series of cyclic triaxial tests, the effect of cyclic frequency on the undrained behaviors of undisturbed marine clay is investigated. For a given dynamic stress ratio, the accumulated pore water pressure and dynamic strain increase with the number of cycles. There exists a threshold value for both the accumulated pore water pressure and dynamic strain, below which the effect of cyclic frequency is very small, but above which the accumulated pore water pressure and dynamic strain increase intensely with the decrease of cyclic frequency for a given number of cycles. The dynamic strength increases with the increase of cyclic frequency, whereas the effect of cyclic frequency on it gradually diminishes to zero when the number of cycles is large enough, and the dynamic strengths at different frequencies tend to the same limiting minimum dynamic strength. The test results demonstrate that the reasons for the frequency effect on the undrained soil behaviors are both the creep effect induced by the loading rate and the decrease of sample effective confining pressure caused by the accumulated pore water pressure. 展开更多

This paper describes model tests of single piles subjected to vertical cyclic compressive loading for three kinds of topography: sloping ground, level ground, and inclined bedrock. Comprehensive dynamic responses involving cyclic effects and vibration behaviours are studied under various load combinations of dynamic amplitude, mean load, frequency and number of cycles. Test results show that permanent settlement can generally be predicted with a quadratic function or power function of cycles.Sloping ground topography produces more pronounced settlement than level ground under the same load condition. For vibration behaviour, displacement amplitude is weakly affected by the number of cycles, while load amplitude significantly influences dynamic responses. Test results also reveal that increasing load amplitude intensifies nonlinearity and topography effects. The strain distribution in a pile and soil stress at the pile tip are displayed to investigate the vibration mechanism accounting for sloping ground effects. Furthermore, the dynamic characteristics among three kinds of topography in the elastic stage are studied using a three-dimensional finite method. Numerical results are validated by comparing with experimental results for base inclination topography. An inclined soil profile boundary causes non-axisymmetric resultant deformation, though a small difference in vertical displacement is observed. 展开更多

Coupled effects of mechanical and electronic behavior in single walled carbon nanotubes are investigated by using quantum mechanics and quantum molecular dynamics. It is found that external applied electric fields can cause charge polarization and significant geometric deformation in metallic and semi-metallic carbon nanotubes. The electric induced axial tension ratio can be up to 10% in the armchair tube and 8.5% in the zigzag tube.Pure external applied load has little effect on charge distribution, but indeed influences the energy gap.Tensile load leads to a narrower energy gap and compressive load increases the gap. When the CNT is tensioned under an external electric field, the effect of mechanical load on the electronic structures of the CNT becomes significant, and the applied electric field may reduce the critical mechanical tension load remarkably.Size effects are also discussed. 展开更多

Tensile failure(spalling or slabbing)often occurs on the sidewall of deep tunnel, which is closely related to the coupled stress state of deep rock mass under high pre-static load and dynamic disturbance. To reveal the mechanism of rock tensile failure caused by this coupled stress mode, the Brazilian disc tests were carried on red sandstone under high pre-static load induced by dynamic disturbance.Based on the pure static tensile fracture load of red sandstone specimen, two static load levels(80%and 90%of the pure static tensile fracture load)were selected as the initial high pre-static loading state, and then the dynamic disturbance load was applied until the rock specimen was destroyed. The dynamic disturbance loading mode adopted a sinusoidal wave(sine-wave)load,and the loading wave amplitude was 20%and 10%of the pure static tensile fracture load, respectively. The dynamic disturbance frequencies were set to 1,10,20,30,40,and 50 Hz.The results show that the tensile failure strength and peak displacement of red sandstone specimens under coupled load actions are lower than those under pure static tensile load, and both parameters decrease significantly with the increase of dynamic disturbance frequency. With the increase of dynamic disturbance frequency, the decrease range of tensile strength of red sandstone increased from 3.3%to 9.4%when the pre-static load level is 80%.While when the pre-static load level is 90%,the decrease range will increase from 7.4%to 11.6%.This weakening effect of tensile strength shows that the deep surrounding rock is more likely to fail under the coupled load actions of pre-static load and dynamic disturbance. In this tensile failure mechanism of the deep surrounding rock, the stress environment of deep sidewall rock determines that the failure mode of rock is a tensile failure, the pre-static load level dominates the tensile failure strength of surrounding rock, and dynamic disturbance promotes the strength-weakening effect and affects the weakening range. 展开更多

In this paper, solute concentration and precipitate content in A2024 aluminum alloy are adjusted by solution treatment (ST) at different temperatures and tensile experiments on these treated specimens are carried out. It is found that the temperature of solution treatment (ST temperature) has a remarkable influence on the amplitude of the serrated flow and the propagation characteristics of shear bands. These results are due to the effects of solute atoms and precipitates on dynamic strain aging (DSA). When ST temperature is higher than 300 ℃, solute concentration is relatively high and solute cloud is a key factor of DSA. When ST temperature is lower than 300 ℃, precipitate content is relatively high and the mechanism of DSA is determined by precipitates. 展开更多
