Previous studies in this area have investigated the effects of instructional quality and academic demands separately and have been limited primarily to examining findings using student samples fromthe United States. With Japanese college students' perceptions of self-improvementin English language courses as the dependent variable, the present study directly tests the hypothesis that students who perceive instructional quality to be higher, andcourse demands to be greater, also estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. The analysis provides strong support for this hypothesis.Higher ratings of instruction and academic demands have already beenshown to increase levels of student learning(Greimel-Fuhrmann and Geyer 2003;Nois and Hudson 2006; Mc Fadden and Dart 1992). The present study is the first toprovide direct evidence of the relative importance of student evaluations ofinstructional quality and academic demands as predictors of student learning and thefirst ever to do so with a sample of Japanese college students enrolled in a required English as a foreign language course. Our hypothesis is that Japanese students whoperceive instructional quality to be higher, and course demands to be greater,estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. Thus we test Japanese students' attitudes toward instructional quality and course demands asindependent variables predicting their perceptions of self-improvement in English language courses. According to the national physical education and health course standards and the fundamental theories of the constructivisrn, the author adopts the modular-design development method to design two functional areas which are the displaying of the teaching design contents and the online information database (nine modules in total) on the basis of the P.E. teaching design flow. Objective:To understand the real experience of nursing students majoring in geriatric nursing in learning the course of geriatric nursing,so as to provide reference for the design of this course.Methods:The semi-struc...Objective:To understand the real experience of nursing students majoring in geriatric nursing in learning the course of geriatric nursing,so as to provide reference for the design of this course.Methods:The semi-structured int erview was used to interview 27 sophomore nursing students in the department of geriatric nursing in a a Chinese medicine college to understand their experience of learning the course of"Geriatric Nursing",and to apply a seven-step phenomenological analy sis method for data analysis.Results:Refined 8 themes:Lack of cognition of physiological aging;focus on social issues and daily life care;adopting a blended teaching style to stimulate nursing students'interest in learning;understanding the life of the elderly from a professional point of view after class;reverence for life and realisation of life values;little attention is paid to the career of the elderly in China;Geriatric Nursing program expands the scope of employment;and fostering nursing s tudents'willingness to engage with the elderly.Conclusion:The nursing students can understand and experience to the elderly and their lives through learning the course of Geriatric Nursing,but lack the motivation to learn actively.Teachers should guid e nursing students to pre-study before class,enrich the course content,expand their knowledge outside of class,and adopt blended teaching to cultivate their perception of the elderly.展开更多

Triangulation was used ...This study aims to explore the Sultan Qaboos University undergraduate students’ perceptions and attitudes towards using m-Health app and its impact on improving their sports and health habits. Triangulation was used by applying a questionnaire and focus groups interviews to answer the research questions. The survey sample was (20) male and female students from four science and humanities colleges. Both quantitative and qualitative findings unequivocally reveal the students’ positive perceptions and attitudes toward the use of the mobile health app. No statistically significant differences were found between the responses of either males or females, or the science and humanitarian colleges of the sample students. In light of these findings, the study set forth its conclusions and recommendations.展开更多

However, it has been reported an inadequate knowledge attitude and practice of proper use of face masks among school students. Therefore, the knowledge, attitude, and practice of school students should be improved. Different approaches are used to improve knowledge, attitude, and practice. However, e-posters are rare, and the effect of e-posters on improving the knowledge, attitude, and practice of school students on the proper use of face masks has not been studied. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the effect of an e-educational poster on knowledge, attitude, and practice of the proper use of face masks among school students. Method: This study was conducted as a pre-test and post-test design. The sample was 364 grade 11 students of the Gampaha educational division, Sri Lanka. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires distributed pre and post to the interventional e-education poster. Data analyses were conducted by using SPSS Software. Results: Results show no significant demographic difference (p = 0.446) between the pre and post-test groups. A significant increase was observed between the pre and post-test mean scores of knowledge (p ≤ 0.05), attitude (p ≤ 0.05), and practice (p ≤ 0.05) on the proper use of face masks. In pre-group knowledge (p = 0.155), attitude (p = 0.258) and practice (p = 0.211) shows no significant difference due to gender. Also post group knowledge (p = 0.079), attitude (p = 0.835) and practice (p = 0.435) shows no significant difference due to gender. Conclusions: The results suggest that e-educational posters may be useful to improve the knowledge, attitude, and practice on the proper use of face masks among school students. The improvement of knowledge, attitude, and practice on the proper use of face masks by e-educational posters among school students occurs irrespective of gender.展开更多
