Student Evaluations as Effective Indicators of Learning Outcomes:Evidence from Japanese University Students in English Language Courses

The term"student learning outcomes"refers to the knowledge, skills, and abilitiesthat students achieve during a course, and is typically assessed based on student evaluations conducted at the end of the semester. Previous studies in this area have investigated the effects of instructional quality and academic demands separately and have been limited primarily to examining findings using student samples fromthe United States. With Japanese college students' perceptions of self-improvementin English language courses as the dependent variable, the present study directly tests the hypothesis that students who perceive instructional quality to be higher, andcourse demands to be greater, also estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. The analysis provides strong support for this hypothesis.Higher ratings of instruction and academic demands have already beenshown to increase levels of student learning(Greimel-Fuhrmann and Geyer 2003;Nois and Hudson 2006; Mc Fadden and Dart 1992). The present study is the first toprovide direct evidence of the relative importance of student evaluations ofinstructional quality and academic demands as predictors of student learning and thefirst ever to do so with a sample of Japanese college students enrolled in a required English as a foreign language course. Our hypothesis is that Japanese students whoperceive instructional quality to be higher, and course demands to be greater,estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. Thus we test Japanese students' attitudes toward instructional quality and course demands asindependent variables predicting their perceptions of self-improvement in English language courses. The research focuses on Japanese students' improvement in English language skills because English education in Japan is an arena in which thedebate over limited English proficiency rages on, and because other research suggests reconsideration of English education in light of the demands of the rapidly expanding global era(Amaki 2008).

论C.P.E巴赫的三部歌曲集创作

C.P.E巴赫(Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach,1714~1788)上承巴洛克时代下启古典主义风格,无论在古钢琴奏鸣曲还是交响曲等体裁的创作上,都无疑是位举足轻重的人物。他作为柏林歌曲乐派的代表人物,一生创作了近300首德文歌曲,奠定了18世纪德文歌曲写作手法,并推动了19世纪艺术歌曲的发展。以其一生的三部大型歌曲集为叙述重点,论述其德文歌曲创作的几个阶段,分析其歌曲特点,进而阐释与探析18世纪德文歌曲的写作风格。

清肾颗粒对大鼠NRK-52E细胞转分化模型miR-23b和PINK1/Parkin通路的影响

目的 探讨TGF-β1诱导大鼠NRK-52E细胞转分化模型中miR-23b对PINK1/Parkin通路的靶向调节机制,并阐明清肾颗粒含药血清对NRK-52E细胞转分化的干预机理。方法 采用超高效液相色谱(UPLC)指纹图谱法对清肾颗粒进行全指纹图谱分析。构建TGF-β1诱导大鼠NRK-52E细胞转分化模型,转染siRNA后分为模拟物空载对照组、miR-23b-5p模拟物组、抑制剂空载对照组、miR-23b-5p抑制剂组,观察miR-23b-5p对PINK1表达量的影响。再将NRK-52E细胞分组为正常组、TGF-β1组、清肾颗粒组、miR-23b-mimic-NC组、miR-23b-mimic组、miR-23b-mimic+清肾颗粒组,Western blot法检测NRK-52E细胞中Pink1、Parkin、LC3Ⅱ、Beclin-1、P62、α-SMA蛋白表达,RT-qPCR法检测NRK-52E细胞中miR-23b-5p、Pink1、Parkin、Beclin-1、α-SMA mRNA的表达,双荧光素酶报告基因实验检测miR-23b-5p与PINK1的靶向关系。结果 UPLC指纹图谱法鉴定出清肾颗粒中11个活性成分。miR-23b-5p过表达后,PINK1 mRNA表达量也显著增加(P<0.05);而miR-23b-5p表达沉默后,PINK1 mRNA表达量也显著减少(P<0.05)。双荧光素酶报告显示,Rno-miR-23b-5p能显著下调Rno-PINK1-WT荧光素酶活性(P<0.05),但未能下调突变Rno-PINK1-mut荧光素酶活性(P>0.05)。清肾颗粒含药血清干预实验发现,TGF-β1组的miR-23b-5p、Pink1、Parkin、Beclin-1、LC3Ⅱ表达及LC3Ⅱ/Ⅰ比值均明显低于正常组,P62和α-SMA表达明显高于正常组(P<0.05)。清肾颗粒组和miR-23b-mimic组的miR-23b-5p、Pink1、Parkin、Beclin-1、LC3Ⅱ表达及LC3Ⅱ/Ⅰ比值均明显高于TGF-β1组,P62和α-SMA表达明显低于TGF-β1组(P<0.05)。miR-23b-mimic+清肾颗粒组的表现更优于miR-23b-mimic组(P<0.05)。结论 清肾颗粒能够上调NRK-52E细胞内miR-23b-5p表达,并通过增强PINK1/Parkin通路介导的线粒体自噬活性,抑制NRK-52E细胞转分化进程。

Research and Practice of the P.E. Information Teaching Design System

In this paper, the physical education information teaching design system is researched and developed based on VB6.0 optimization platform. According to the national physical education and health course standards and the fundamental theories of the constructivisrn, the author adopts the modular-design development method to design two functional areas which are the displaying of the teaching design contents and the online information database （nine modules in total） on the basis of the P.E. teaching design flow. Importantly, this system features the compatibility, scalability and practical applicability, and can effectively improve the ability of P.E. teachers to design their teaching, and hence provides a guarantee for the improvement of teaching quality and efficiency.

C.P.E.巴赫与贝多芬:歌曲《Bitten》“抄袭”的互文性解读

德国诗人盖勒特于1757年创作了诗集《宗教颂歌与利德》。C.P.E.巴赫根据全部诗集谱写了歌曲集(H.686),贝多芬也根据其中的6首诗谱写了歌曲集(OP.48)。20世纪80年代以来,西方学者对两位作曲家的作品进行大量的比较研究,其观点认为“两部作品存在极度相似性(尤其是歌曲《Bitten》),贝多芬或多或少地借鉴了前辈的作品”,这导致较多人对贝多芬“抄袭”巴赫作品观点的认同。文章在此问题上以“互文性”观点来解读两个文本存在着历时性的互文关系:贝多芬的“后文本”对“前文本”的借鉴、模仿抑或引用;“后文本”在此基础上做出较大的改变与拓展。从文化层面上阐述了贝多芬对C.P.E.巴赫作品的继承与发展。

Analysis on the Optimization of the P.E. Course Teaching Plan in Colleges and Universities

In the new period, the physical education in colleges and universities is of greater and greater significance for the enhancement of students＇ learning efficiency. In this paper, the current situation of the current physical education is analyzed, and also related suggestions on the optimization of the P.E. course teaching plan are proposed.

修正磁化模型的多组分铁磁性颗粒运动研究

铁磁性颗粒因具有铁磁性被广泛应用于化工环保、生化工程和能源等各个领域,磁场具有的穿透性质,对于采用铁磁性颗粒的系统,可通过改变磁场控制系统内颗粒的运动状态.文章基于传统的磁化模型,采用相对参考系转换方法,提出了适用范围更广的修正P-E磁化模型,可以计算铁磁性颗粒在任意方向磁场作用下所受磁化力.通过有限体积法(FVM)与离散单元法(DEM)耦合进行数值模拟,验证了修正P-E磁化模型的精确性,并模拟多组分颗粒在磁场中的运动,对比了铁磁性颗粒与惰性颗粒在不同配比及不同磁场条件下的运动特性,对颗粒分布、颗粒速度矢量和颗粒总能量变化3个方面进行分析.结果表明:在多组分颗粒系统中,铁磁性颗粒依旧保持成链特性,但成链速度与长度降低;随着铁磁性颗粒占比提高,铁磁性颗粒初始能量增大,聚链数量与成链长度将有所增加,约束惰性颗粒能力增强;此外,施加水平与竖直方向磁场时,多组分颗粒系统达到稳定速度最快,可以通过增大铁磁性颗粒占比有效提升稳定速度,使系统更快趋于稳定;而施加含有倾角的磁场时,随着铁磁性颗粒占比升高,铁磁性颗粒达到稳定状态需要的时间逐渐降低,较难通过改变铁磁性颗粒占比缩短稳定所需时间.

Real experience among undergraduate nursing students in learning the course of geriatric nursing : a qualitative study

Objective:To understand the real experience of nursing students majoring in geriatric nursing in learning the course of geriatric nursing,so as to provide reference for the design of this course.Methods:The semi-structured int erview was used to interview 27 sophomore nursing students in the department of geriatric nursing in a a Chinese medicine college to understand their experience of learning the course of"Geriatric Nursing",and to apply a seven-step phenomenological analy sis method for data analysis.Results:Refined 8 themes:Lack of cognition of physiological aging;focus on social issues and daily life care;adopting a blended teaching style to stimulate nursing students'interest in learning;understanding the life of the elderly from a professional point of view after class;reverence for life and realisation of life values;little attention is paid to the career of the elderly in China;Geriatric Nursing program expands the scope of employment;and fostering nursing s tudents'willingness to engage with the elderly.Conclusion:The nursing students can understand and experience to the elderly and their lives through learning the course of Geriatric Nursing,but lack the motivation to learn actively.Teachers should guid e nursing students to pre-study before class,enrich the course content,expand their knowledge outside of class,and adopt blended teaching to cultivate their perception of the elderly.

Impact of Using m-Health App on Improving Undergraduate Students’ Sports and Health Habits and Their Attitudes toward Its Use

This study aims to explore the Sultan Qaboos University undergraduate students’ perceptions and attitudes towards using m-Health app and its impact on improving their sports and health habits. Triangulation was used by applying a questionnaire and focus groups interviews to answer the research questions. The survey sample was (20) male and female students from four science and humanities colleges. Both quantitative and qualitative findings unequivocally reveal the students’ positive perceptions and attitudes toward the use of the mobile health app. No statistically significant differences were found between the responses of either males or females, or the science and humanitarian colleges of the sample students. In light of these findings, the study set forth its conclusions and recommendations.

Effect of an E-Educational Poster on Improving the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice on the Proper Use of Face Masks among School Students

Introduction: Two spread methods of Covid-19, namely airborne and respiratory droplets, can be prevented by proper use of face masks. However, it has been reported an inadequate knowledge attitude and practice of proper use of face masks among school students. Therefore, the knowledge, attitude, and practice of school students should be improved. Different approaches are used to improve knowledge, attitude, and practice. However, e-posters are rare, and the effect of e-posters on improving the knowledge, attitude, and practice of school students on the proper use of face masks has not been studied. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the effect of an e-educational poster on knowledge, attitude, and practice of the proper use of face masks among school students. Method: This study was conducted as a pre-test and post-test design. The sample was 364 grade 11 students of the Gampaha educational division, Sri Lanka. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires distributed pre and post to the interventional e-education poster. Data analyses were conducted by using SPSS Software. Results: Results show no significant demographic difference (p = 0.446) between the pre and post-test groups. A significant increase was observed between the pre and post-test mean scores of knowledge (p ≤ 0.05), attitude (p ≤ 0.05), and practice (p ≤ 0.05) on the proper use of face masks. In pre-group knowledge (p = 0.155), attitude (p = 0.258) and practice (p = 0.211) shows no significant difference due to gender. Also post group knowledge (p = 0.079), attitude (p = 0.835) and practice (p = 0.435) shows no significant difference due to gender. Conclusions: The results suggest that e-educational posters may be useful to improve the knowledge, attitude, and practice on the proper use of face masks among school students. The improvement of knowledge, attitude, and practice on the proper use of face masks by e-educational posters among school students occurs irrespective of gender.

S-FHMC710型煤泥重介质旋流器在吕家坨选煤厂的应用

吕家坨矿选煤厂为了解决粗煤泥分选效果差的问题,采用S-FHMC710型超级煤泥重介质旋流器分选粗煤泥,并通过工业性试验对超级煤泥重介质旋流器进行工艺性能进行检测。试验结果表明:大于0.5 mm粒级可能偏差0.050 kg/L,数量效率99.64%;0.50~0.25 mm粒级可能偏差0.060 kg/L,数量效率98.76%;0.25~0.10 mm粒级可能偏差0.087 kg/L,数量效率96.99%,有效分选下限达到0.10 mm。该超级煤泥重介质旋流器应用效果良好,对于提高精煤质量、产率和选煤厂经济效益具有显著的效果。
