Although some perceptions of the workers may seem absurd to others, these components are part of their reality. Worker behavior is an extremely important factor in workplace safety as many accidents are often caused by insecure actions, in which combinations of human behavior are the consequence of such perceptions. The aim of this study was to explore workers’ perceptions of safety practices in their habitual work environment, a building site in Mexico. Worker perceptions of safety practices were captured using an instrument in which the following dimensions were taken into consideration: Education and training, Work motivation, Family and social integration, Work place integration, Safety awareness integration, and Accidents. The conclusion was that the workers have received very little education and possess a limited culture of safety awareness, which has led them to perceive that their lack of precaution is the main cause of accidents.展开更多

The TGP is constructed in 3 stages . The p...In the construction of Three Gorges Project, the total amount of concrete is about 28 Mm\+3 , and the total amount of metal works and reinforcement is approximately 0.72 Mt . The TGP is constructed in 3 stages . The preparation period together with the first stage is 5 years , the second stage and third stage are both 6 years .In the second stage construction of 6 years (1998~2003) , there are 18.46 Mm\+3 of concrete to be placed and 0.192 Mt of metal works and embedded parts for mechanical and electric equipment to be installed . In 1999, a world record of annual concrete placement of 4.585 Mm\+3 was set . In 2000, it is planned to place 5.4 Mm\+3 of concrete and to install 38 000 t of metal works . Construction equipments and layout of construction site , concrete production and its temperature control, metal works, mechanical and electric equipments in the second stage construction are presented.展开更多

This paper analyzes and summarizes the results achieved and the main problems,and puts forth the corresponding recommendations. To meet the requirements of specifications,intelligent optimization of steel bar blanking can improve resource utilization and promote the intelligent development of sustainable construction.As one of the most importa...To meet the requirements of specifications,intelligent optimization of steel bar blanking can improve resource utilization and promote the intelligent development of sustainable construction.As one of the most important building materials in construction engineering,reinforcing bars(rebar)account for more than 30%of the cost in civil engineering.A significant amount of cutting waste is generated during the construction phase.Excessive cutting waste increases construction costs and generates a considerable amount of CO_(2)emission.This study aimed to develop an optimization algorithm for steel bar blanking that can be used in the intelligent optimization of steel bar engineering to realize sustainable construction.In the proposed algorithm,the integer linear programming algorithm was applied to solve the problem.It was combined with the statistical method,a greedy strategy was introduced,and a method for determining the dynamic critical threshold was developed to ensure the accuracy of large-scale data calculation.The proposed algorithm was verified through a case study;the results confirmed that the rebar loss rate of the proposed method was reduced by 9.124%compared with that of traditional distributed processing of steel bars,reducing CO_(2)emissions and saving construction costs.As the scale of a project increases,the calculation quality of the optimization algorithmfor steel bar blanking proposed also increases,while maintaining high calculation efficiency.When the results of this study are applied in practice,they can be used as a sustainable foundation for building informatization and intelligent development.展开更多
