With the advancement of living standards,the role of healthy diets in maintaining well-being has gained prominence.The concept of“medicinal fruits and vegetables”has attracted much research attention recently.Medici...With the advancement of living standards,the role of healthy diets in maintaining well-being has gained prominence.The concept of“medicinal fruits and vegetables”has attracted much research attention recently.Medicinal fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients and high in edible value,and are also necessary for people's daily diet.In order to better exert the effect of medicinal fruits and vegetables and prolong their shelf life,this paper reviews the effects of common thermal processing methods(boiling,steaming,microwaving,hot air drying,and pasteurization)on the bioactive compounds and pharmacological activities of medicinal fruits and vegetables.It is found that different heat treatment methods have their own advantages and disadvantages,and microwave drying has greater advantages in comparison.Through the summary of the thermal processing methods of medicinal fruits and vegetables,it is expected to provide a theoretical reference for its rational utilization in the field of fruits and vegetables and the improvement of thermal processing methods.展开更多

The tubers and roots of Aconitum(Ranunculaceae)are widely used as heart medicine or analgesic agents for the treatment of coronary heart disease,chronic heart failure,rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathic pain since an...The tubers and roots of Aconitum(Ranunculaceae)are widely used as heart medicine or analgesic agents for the treatment of coronary heart disease,chronic heart failure,rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathic pain since ancient times.As a type of natural products mainly extracted from Aconitum plants,Aconitum alkaloids have complex chemical structures and exert remarkable biological activity,which are mainly responsible for significant effects of Aconitum plants.The present review is to summarize the progress of the pharmacological,toxicological,and pharmacokinetic studies of Aconitum alkaloids,so as to provide evidence for better clinical application.Research data concerning pharmacological,toxicological and pharmacokinetic studies of Aconitum alkaloids were collected from different scientific databases(PubMed,CNKI,Google Scholar,Baidu Scholar,and Web of Science)using the phrase Aconitum alkaloids,as well as generic synonyms.Aconitum alkaloids are both bioactive compounds and toxic ingredients in Aconitum plants.They produce a wide range of pharmacological activities,including protecting the cardiovascular system,nervous system,and immune system and anti-cancer effects.Notably,Aconitum alkaloids also exert strong cardiac toxicity,neurotoxicity and liver toxicity,which are supported by clinical studies.Finally,pharmacokinetic studies indicated that cytochrome P450 proteins(CYPs)and efflux transporters(ETs)are closely related to the low bioavailability of Aconitum alkaloids and play an important role in their metabolism and detoxification in vivo.展开更多
In recent years,drug development and research have gradually shifted from chemical synthesis to biopharmaceutical and natural drugs.Natural medicines,such as traditional Chinese medicine,have been among the first stud...In recent years,drug development and research have gradually shifted from chemical synthesis to biopharmaceutical and natural drugs.Natural medicines,such as traditional Chinese medicine,have been among the first studied because of their long medicinal history,simplicity,and the relatively low cost of research.Among them,Xanthii Fructus(XF)is famous for the treatment of sinusitis.In this article,the achievements of research on XF from 1953 to 2020 are systematically reviewed,focusing on the aspects of chemical constituents,pharmacological effects,clinical applications,toxicity and side effects,and processing methods.To date,there have been significant advances in both the phytochemistry and pharmacology of XF.Some traditional uses have been validated and clarified in modern pharmacological studies.However,its mechanism of action in the treatment of allergic diseases has not been satisfactorily explained.Further in vitro and in vivo studies are required to rationally develop new drugs and to elucidate the therapeutic potential of XF.A comprehensive evaluation of XF and an understanding of network pharmacology are also needed.展开更多

文摘With the advancement of living standards,the role of healthy diets in maintaining well-being has gained prominence.The concept of“medicinal fruits and vegetables”has attracted much research attention recently.Medicinal fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients and high in edible value,and are also necessary for people's daily diet.In order to better exert the effect of medicinal fruits and vegetables and prolong their shelf life,this paper reviews the effects of common thermal processing methods(boiling,steaming,microwaving,hot air drying,and pasteurization)on the bioactive compounds and pharmacological activities of medicinal fruits and vegetables.It is found that different heat treatment methods have their own advantages and disadvantages,and microwave drying has greater advantages in comparison.Through the summary of the thermal processing methods of medicinal fruits and vegetables,it is expected to provide a theoretical reference for its rational utilization in the field of fruits and vegetables and the improvement of thermal processing methods.

文摘Croton crassifolius(CC)is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine rich in terpenoids,with among which diterpene species are the most.CC had biological activities in the treatment of cancer,inflammation,ulcerative colitis,osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s disease.This study reviews the chemical compositions and pharmacological activities of CC to provide reference for further research.

文摘Lonicera japonica,also known as honeysuckle,is an evergreen shrub in the family of Syzygium.By consulting Sciencedirect databases and Web of Science databases,79 related articles were found,of which 22 were related to chemical composition and pharmacological activity.These articles show that L.japonica has a wide range of pharmacological activities,including antiviral,anti-tumor,and antioxidant effects.These activities have important applications in the pharmaceutical,food,and fragrance industries.This review focuses on the chemical composition and pharmacological effects of L.japonicae,which is of great significance to the development of new drugs and therapeutic methods.

文摘The tubers and roots of Aconitum(Ranunculaceae)are widely used as heart medicine or analgesic agents for the treatment of coronary heart disease,chronic heart failure,rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathic pain since ancient times.As a type of natural products mainly extracted from Aconitum plants,Aconitum alkaloids have complex chemical structures and exert remarkable biological activity,which are mainly responsible for significant effects of Aconitum plants.The present review is to summarize the progress of the pharmacological,toxicological,and pharmacokinetic studies of Aconitum alkaloids,so as to provide evidence for better clinical application.Research data concerning pharmacological,toxicological and pharmacokinetic studies of Aconitum alkaloids were collected from different scientific databases(PubMed,CNKI,Google Scholar,Baidu Scholar,and Web of Science)using the phrase Aconitum alkaloids,as well as generic synonyms.Aconitum alkaloids are both bioactive compounds and toxic ingredients in Aconitum plants.They produce a wide range of pharmacological activities,including protecting the cardiovascular system,nervous system,and immune system and anti-cancer effects.Notably,Aconitum alkaloids also exert strong cardiac toxicity,neurotoxicity and liver toxicity,which are supported by clinical studies.Finally,pharmacokinetic studies indicated that cytochrome P450 proteins(CYPs)and efflux transporters(ETs)are closely related to the low bioavailability of Aconitum alkaloids and play an important role in their metabolism and detoxification in vivo.

文摘In recent years,drug development and research have gradually shifted from chemical synthesis to biopharmaceutical and natural drugs.Natural medicines,such as traditional Chinese medicine,have been among the first studied because of their long medicinal history,simplicity,and the relatively low cost of research.Among them,Xanthii Fructus(XF)is famous for the treatment of sinusitis.In this article,the achievements of research on XF from 1953 to 2020 are systematically reviewed,focusing on the aspects of chemical constituents,pharmacological effects,clinical applications,toxicity and side effects,and processing methods.To date,there have been significant advances in both the phytochemistry and pharmacology of XF.Some traditional uses have been validated and clarified in modern pharmacological studies.However,its mechanism of action in the treatment of allergic diseases has not been satisfactorily explained.Further in vitro and in vivo studies are required to rationally develop new drugs and to elucidate the therapeutic potential of XF.A comprehensive evaluation of XF and an understanding of network pharmacology are also needed.
文摘C-glycosylflavonoids are characterized by a bond between the anomeric carbon of a sugar moiety and the C-6 or C-8 position of a flavonoid A ring.These compounds are widespread in nature and have become the subject of increasing research interest due to their high biological potential.This review focuses on the biological effects of various C-glycosylflavonoids and their structure–activity relationships(SAR)as elucidated over the last 5 years.

文摘Plants of genus Cichorium are famous due to their therapeutic and medicinal properties.They are used as traditional medicine and edible food.To date,several scholars concentrated on compounds belonging to coumarins,flavonoids,sesquiterpenoids,triterpenoids,steroids,organic acids and other chemical constituents.Pharmacological effects such as photo-protective,hepatoprotective,anti-diabetic and lipid lowering,antioxidant,anti-inflammation,antifungal,antimalarial,increased bone mineral density,as well as vasorelaxant and antitumour activity were wildly reported.In this study,botanical resources,ethnopharmacological application,chemical constituents and bioactivities,as well as safety and toxicity of clinical applications of genus Cichorium were reviewed,which may provide a reliable basis for further development and utilization of Cichorium genetic resources.

文摘Ricinine(3-cyano-4-methoxy-N-methyl-2-pyridone)is an alkaloid present in leaves and seeds of castor plant i.e.Ricinus communis.It can cause vomiting,convulsions,hypotension,liver and kidney damage and several other complications in human.Ricinine presents mainly in young plant and it is the only cyano-substituted pyridine compounds occurred naturally.Ricinine also found in some other plants such as Piper nigrum,Discocleidion rufescens,Aparisthmium cordatum and Nicotiana tabacum.Accidental and intended Ricinus communis intoxications in humans and animals have been known for centuries.In the present review,we summarize the information regarding its medicinal uses,pharmacological activities,analytical techniques and intended and unintended poisoning cases in humans and animals.This review will be beneficial for the researcher in the field of herbal medicine and other allied sciences.
