To study the stress pattern of crane hook in its loaded condition, a solid model of crane hook is prepared with the help of CMM and CAD software. Real time pattern of stress concentration in 3D model of crane hook is obtained. The stress distribution pattern is verified for its correctness on an acrylic model of crane hook using Diffused light Polariscope set up. By predicting the stress concentration area, the shape of the crane is modified to increase its working life and reduce the failure rates.展开更多

The new approach to solve the electron optics problems in three dimensions is presented. It is based on the principal ray method suggested by G. Grinberg in 1948. That perspective approach was not realized before for full three-dimensional electron optic systems, probably because of the complexity of its mathematical apparatus. We describe the analytical technique of the BEM (boundary element method) for the field evaluation, and 3rd order aberration expansion for the trajectory analysis. The first version of such computer code "OPTICS-3" and some results of numerical simulations with this code were presented.展开更多

Instead of using a monolithic primary mirror, more and more large telescopes, which are currently being planned or in construction, have adopted a segmented primary mirror design. Therefore, how to sense and phase such a primary mirror is a key issue for the future of extremely large optical/infrared telescopes. The Dispersed Fringe Sensor (DFS), or Dispersed Hartmann Sensor (DHS), is a non-contact method using broadband point light sources and it can estimate the piston by the two-directional spectrum formed by the transmissive grating's dispersion and lenslet array. Thus it can implement the combination of co-focusing by Shack-Hartmann technology and phasing by dispersed fringe sensing technologies such as the template-mapping method and the Hartmann method. We introduce the successful design, construction and alignment of our dis- persed Hartmann sensor together with its design principles and simulations. We also conduct many successful real phasing tests and phasing corrections in the visible waveband using our existing indoor segmented mirror optics platform. Finally, some conclusions are reached based on the test and correction of experimental results.展开更多

We suggest a new version of similar approach for the BEM (Boundary Element Method) based on the alternating method by Schwartz. This approach substantially reduce the dimension of dense global matrix of algebraic system produced by BEM algorithm to solve a complex problem on as single CPU (Central Processor Unit) desktop computer. New algorithm is iterative one, but exponential convergence for the Schwatlz's algorithm creates the fast numerical procedures. We describe the results of numerical simulation for a multi electrode ion transport system. The algorithms were implemented in the computer code "POISSON-3".展开更多

The principle of the SPGD algorithm is described briefly and a metric suitable for point source imaging optimization is given. The feasibility and good performance of the SPGD algorithm is demonstrated by an experimental system featured with a 140-actuator deformable mirror and a Hartrnann-Shark wavefront sensor. Then the SPGD based AO is applied to a liquid crystal array (LCA) based coronagraph to improve the contrast. The LCA can modulate the incoming light to generate a pupil apodization mask of any pattern. A circular stepped pattern is used in our preliminary experiment and the image contrast shows improvement from 10^-3 to 10^-4.5 at an angular distance of 2A/D after being corrected by SPGD based AO.展开更多

The grown crystals have been subjected to different characterization analyses and the results were compared with pure copper mercury thiocyanate crystal (CMTC), which has been already reported. The single crystal X-ray diffraction shows that the addition of metallic impurity does not alter the basic structure of the parent crystal, but increases the cell volume markedly. The presence of functional groups has been identified using FT-IR analysis. Further the grown crystal is characterized by optical transmission analysis and thermal analysis. The thermal stability of the grown crystal is high, compared to pure CMTC crystal. The optical transparency of the grown crystal is studied by UV-Vis-NIR analysis. This study reveals that Co2+ mixed CMTC crystal has wider transparent waveband than pure CMTC crystal. The relative second harmonic generation efficiency of the Co2+ mixed CMTC crystal has been tested by Kurtz-Perry powder technique.展开更多
